I graduated high school in '81. There's a road that goes by the back of the high school called, appropriately enough "The Back Drive." That was the only area of the school where you were allowed to smoke, although I guess teachers did in the teacher's lounge. Smoking is prohibited campuswide nowadays. Big surprise, huh? Not that I saw it happen, but there were some guys that smoked marijuana right in class. The episode so traumatized the teacher in whose class it was that she was reduced to tears.

Met Cub Koda the first time in the Spring of '94 at the Austin Record Convention. We chatted for a few minutes and he signed my YEAH album with the 'newspaper' included. He was back a year later and was walking my way during Friday Morning setup. As he got nearer he greets me with, "Hey, Blaine. How are you"? I couldn't believe it! A brief chat with him a year before and a year later he remembers my name! Got to visit with him more that weekend. He was a great guy.

OK, I have heard this song countless times for many decades but I had never seen them perform until just now and I was kinda shocked. I half expected handle bar mustaches and fringe suede jackets! What I did NOT expect was a “glam rock, proto-hair metal by way of Cheep Trick” visual vibe! I guess they were ahead of their time. I am even more shocked to discover that they were a three piece! Neat.
