Metallica asked 53 artists to do a song from their Black album. They put these covers on their Blackless album (30 year anniversary of The Black Album) for charity. Alessia Cara (Canadian pop singer) teamed up with The Warning to do *Enter Sandman.* Metallica told all the artists they could do anything they want with their song. *WITH ONE STIPULATION. THEY COULDN'T CHANGE THE LYRICS.* *Fun Fact:* The Warning did play *THE RIFF* throughout the song. They played it at half time. They played the riff at regular tempo at the end.
They were asked by Metallica to do their take on Enter Sandman, they were told they can do whatever they want but don't change the lyrics. The crazy thing is they were given just over a week to do it and they had to collaborate with a pop singer over zoom due to the pandemic. No pressure, just re-imagine a classic song and do it with someone you have never even met. They never cease to amaze!
The girls have now done at least 5 versions of this song. In Oct. they did 3 high production shows where they had a string section from a symphony on stage backing them on stage on this and a couple other songs.
saw the live this year! took my 12 Y/O daughter to her first rock show and they delivered! These ladies are the real deal. I can't wait for their new album that is in the works!
DPA/TW and Alessia Cara certainly understood the assignment! Alessia Cara is a Grammy winning Canadian Pop and R&B singer... they had 10 days to rip this rendition of *Enter Sandman* from the ether and make it a darker, more eerie, and a more haunting lullaby than the original metal version... this was done because they, and many other artists from numerous genres, were invited by Metallica to take one of the songs from the original "Black" album, keep the lyrics and change it up how ever you like... play it backwards, upside down, whatever... this was all for the 30th anniversary of the "Black" album... all the submissions from 50someodd artists were put on the 2021 "The Metallica Blacklist" album... the proceeds from the album sales are split 50/50 with half going to Metallica's "All Within My Hands Foundation" and the other half being donated to a charity of the participating artists' choice. in the OMV, Dany and Alessia share the lead vocals until they are in the three doorways when Dany takes over and Alessia does more of the background oooohs and aaaahs... the version they play in concert has Dany doing the vocals with a backing track of Alessia's ohhhs and ahhhs... of course Ale and Pau join in with their angelic harmonies in both... this is a fantastic reimagining of the iconic original... this 60+ year old rocker loves both versions of *Enter Sandman* but this one by TW and Alessia gets more airtime these days 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA
Redid the song with Alessia Cara, Canadian pop star, at the invitation of Metallica for the Metallica Blacklist album. Metallica invited 53 artists to do covers of the songs from the Black album at its 30th anniversary.
Pretty sure it’s the opening track for the blacklist album. Awesome honor and way for this band to really come full circle being that the first viral song of theirs was enter sandman as kids. Love this group
I don't know how many reactions I've seen from that version, but I don't remember anyone saying where's the solo. This version doesn't need a solo. A good song doesn't need a solo, a good solo needs a good song.
I don’t think I’ve ever really seen a solo from The Warning. It might be a conscious (or unconscious) choice on the part of the sisters to keep the balance between them, and avoid the kind of drama and jealousy that often tears bands (and even especially family bands) apart. They each have their roles and they play them, but notably while Dany is mostly the lead vocalist, either Pau or even Ale has stepped in when she was feeling off or needed to rest her voice.
@@gerstelb They don't have such long solos in their own songs. Short ones from Danny are sometimes included. Danny once said that she prefers riffs to solos. Pau once said that solos wouldn't be a problem if they weren't too long. Nod of the head from Ale. But the songs are written in such a way that a solo usually doesn't fit into the structure of the song. It would just be an extension of the song. But maybe the whole thing will change after the collaboration with Band Maid.
I kept myself away from music for almost 20 years because most of it had gone to 💩 then I came across these three sisters and from Mexico no less (me being Mexican) dove into the rabbit hole and I was done. So happy to listen to quality lyrics and music and can't get enough. Yes I've discovered other decent bands I also like but my favorite of all time is The Warning. Keep in mind that I lived in the States for 25 years and went to many festivals and concerts throughout the 90s and after experiencing The Warning live I have to say they are by far a better band than most I witnessed live!
These young ladies are true rock stars. They made this their own. Now there's nothing wrong with doing a straight cover, or adding a little bit to it. Def Leppard's cover if "No Matter What", Aerosmith and Godsmack's "Come Together" and Guns and Roses " Live and Let Die" are all great covers. Now this, Jimi Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower" and Disturbed's "Sound of Silence" and "Land of Confusion" are taken to the next level.
Their original cover in 2014 has Ale doing the prayer section, and in the official version of this cover Pau does the prayer. Each one is worth a watch just for the prayer's alone imo.
So obviously NOT a straight cover of Enter Sandman. If you want to see what song that was a live performance of…check out the official music video. Great reaction. Keep it up. They are a fucking awesome band. The best is yet to come.
Well, Lars told them to do something different and not just a straight cover, so they literally turned it upside down and backwards. Starting with "take my hand' and ending with the iconic riff instead of the other way around. Dany single picking notes in the first verse, power chords in the 2nd.. building.. and the super soft dynamics of the lullaby... and the harmonies!!! I grew up with Metallica and have seen them live several times and I absolutely love this version. It's pure genius.
Among other things, to make this iconic piece their own, they placed the classic riff in the most appropriate place. They always prove to be geniuses. Greetings from México!! 🇲🇽 🤘😁✌️
By saving the main riff for the closing section they plateau the whole song, a crescendo to an epic finale. This is what I love about TW that sets them apart from other bands, they blow your socks off with their melodic concepts.
I'm glad you got to this one. It's a serious challenge to the original for which is better. I only have one thing I would change here. The last "take my hand" should've been "grain of sand". Either way, this goes down in the cover world as top tier, Johnny Cash "Hurt", and Pearl Jam "Crazy Mary" level stuff. I'd rather hear the cover.
The Warning's arrangement of this classic is mesmerizing. Waiting for the outtro to finally pay homage to the main riff is brillant...anticipation never felt so good.
Pau, (Paulina Villarreal), is nominated for Rock Drummer of the Year’” Please spread the word and vote”. At Drumeo Awards 2023 voting ends 25th 11:59 pm.😎👍
They put together a perfect reimagined version for Metallica with Alessia Cara and the live version is really great. 🔥 The harmonies are a highlight for me and then the iconic riff saved til the end is genius IMO. Thank you for reacting to TW really enjoy going through this show with you. 🤘⚡🔥
The assignment from Metallica was re-create this song with your vision....BOY, did they ever!!!! Full on rock and roll Sisters and simply best version of this song since the original...they own this song now. Cheers.
This one is TW true tribute to "Enter Sandman" not a cover. They did a cover version of this song and it is the one that put The Warning on the YT map. They did it when they were kids, Dany 14, Pau 12 and Ale 9. They've also done another great cover of a Metallica song: "Atlas Rise" (I love TWs version - where Dany and Ale find a way to incorporate 2 guitars and a bass with only 1 guitar and a bass) 2 versions: 1 In the cave and the other at Whisky a GoGo. Take you pick!
This is one of the few songs of theirs that you'll want to check out the studio version. This is a collaboration with Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara.
I like the way it starts rather sedate, then builds and builds until the final breakdown using the original Metallica riff - Brilliant take on the original!
😊 The omv was a trip to view Por moi, when first released 1st view, what the head scratcher 2nd view, I kinda like that 3rd view, this is kinda fun 12th view, this kicks major butt Weird how The Warning gets better better and better to me even til this day 😊
Digging your vids. They've played a couple of new songs as well. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you check out The Warning - Hell You Called a Dream (Live) | Teatro Diana (Error Tour 2023), from Erick Alderete's channel. It's stuck... stuck right in my brain. And, that is fine by me.
There were 50 musicians asked to contribute to The Black Album only one band had the balls to re arrange Metallica's Anthem and they were 3 young ladies. You just have to love The Warning and not because they deserve it, they demand it.
I too had one complaint I saved for the end. I feel your mouthing of the lyrics was distracting and wholly unimpressive, as was your mugging for the camera when you should have been reacting to the video performance. Your enthusiasm did not seem natural but rather as an unnecessary affectation. Otherwise, I enjoyed and upvoted your reaction.
Metallica said to play the song backwards or upside down. Most artists are afraid to do so, but The Warning is fearless.
A work of genius. These sisters are world class composers, not just musicians. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Right! They're Magicians!🤣
Totally epic remake of an iconic song🤘🔥
Nice of Metalica to write a song for The Warning. 😀

Yeah, and they're all BANGERS. I love to contrast the live arrangement with the video they did with remote-Alessia. Same but somehow DIFFERENT.
Composed and recorded in ONE week to meet the Metallica Blacklist Album deadline!
Masterpiece!
Crazy that they did this cover in like 10 days! It's soooo good! 👌👌
saw the live this year! took my 12 Y/O daughter to her first rock show and they delivered! These ladies are the real deal. I can't wait for their new album that is in the works!
Best Dad Ever!!!!!
Dad of the Year!!!
And The Warning are excellent role models for young girls, classy and immensely talented.

Superb, immaculate, extraordinary, magnificent, and epic cover of an iconic classic rock hit.
I've said it before, but using the iconic riff as an outro is very smart and badass
As a suggestion, put video links in the description so viewers can easily see the originals.
When I seen the OMV, it blew my mind, what creative minds...so good!
They rule bro …just amazing musicians..
love your appreciation for music. The Warning Army will kindly fill you in. Welcome, Peace, Thank You!!!
Dany's playing the Explorer gifted her by Lzzy Hale.
Always fun when a reactor goes into this song (or better this performance) blind not realizing The Warning did a complete tear-down and rebuild of it.
Amazing take on a timeless classic. Version 2.0. 😮

Absolutely amazing. And they did this, start to finish, in 8 days. Mind-blowing.
Awesome Rock Show Every time! I haven’t seen them live but hope and pray I can soon!
You should get Ellie to react with you to the next The Warning song!
So satisfying when they bring in the riff!. 🤯🎉
I LOVE THIS BAND!!
✌️🎼💖
Dropped the hammer at the end.
It’s so good , a great updated version of a classic , masterfully composed and performed

That familiar riff hitting at the end is like the main theme coming up in an anime series finale 🤘

Si great that Metálica wrote a song specially for The Warning 😉
I'm seeing them in Los Angeles in October! (I hope my injured foot heals by then!)
Do see them live if you can. I've seen them twice, and they deliver.
You should watch their original cover of Enter Sandman, its pretty much the video that went viral and got them discovered.
Great review for a really great group ....!!
