  • Making a V-neck is just decreasing stitches from the middle. In this video I explain step by step how to make a V neck.
    This is the final video of a short video series "Decreasing stitches". I suggest you watch part 1 & 2 as well if you are a complete beginner.
    Part 1: • Learn How to Decrease ...
    Part 2: • How to Decrease Stitch...
    There are many ways to decrease stitches, so also many ways to make a V-neck. But for beginners, I believe this is the best choice!
    Enjoy knitting,
    Pelo :)

    this works without a third needle on circular needles! just pull your left needle out a little and half of the stitches will be "held" on the cable, which means you won't have to transfer stitches back later too.

    This helps a lot, my pattern just says, 'decrease into v-neck, keeping the pattern of the arm side the same', which as a beginner, wasn't very useful. I think I may use a large safety pin to eliminate the need for the 3rd needle.

    • @planetpelo
      @planetpelo  11 місяців тому

      Safety pin sounds like a good idea! Please let me know how it goes 👍🏻

    This is such a nice tutorial for a simple V neck. I think instead of K2TOG on the left sided of V neck, so the stitch leans to the left, use SSK.

    • @planetpelo

    Thank you for this excellent, clear demonstration for making a V-neck. I am stuck trying to understand how to make a ROUND neck shaping on the front of a raglan pullover (bottom up, pieces) ... on which I will add a neckband later. My pattern (vintage, 70's, old) is very confusing, but your instructions are very clear.
    Do you offer a video showing us how to shape a round neck opening ? Many thanks!

    I do not own 3 needles of the same size, can I use a lifeline instead of a 3rd needle? Can I transfer the stitches on a lifeline, knit the first side then transfer the stitches on the lifeline and go on?

    • @planetpelo
      @planetpelo  8 місяців тому

      To be honest, I haven't tried using lifelines, or I haven't seen anyone do that for V necks. But, it sounds like it could work. Please let me know if you try it. Good luck. 🥰

    I was wondering why you skip the first stitch is it really necessary

    • @planetpelo
      @planetpelo  7 місяців тому

      No, definitely not necessary. I do it because I am used to it, I think the edge looks better that way. You can also knit the first stitch 💐
