Couple quick things.. Always remove fill plug first!! 2 benefits.. 1 you won't be screwed if it strips after all fluid is drained.. 2 helps the fluid drain much faster... Lastly.. After filling differential.. Take truck for short ride turning left & right several times.. This will fill side internal baffles/wheel ends... Recheck level...it will not be full anymore((very very bad)) Top off one last time & go trucking... Internal baffles are often overlooked in differential servicing!!
My see a leak from the front yoke by the drive shaft area, could that be too much oil or the seal is bad, i tried checking the oil level on that middle plug and oil was coming out but i hurried and closed it back so i wouldn't lose the oil i had, should i check from that top male plug to see it its good with oil?
Good video keep you the good work. I have a question for you, I have 2018 Freightliner DD15 and D12 transmission do I need to change the transmission fluid?
HelIo, heard its not good to do transmission oil changes too frequent, 2018 its too new for it, but ask you mechanic for better advice , thanks for watching sir 🙏
I had a D12 transmission on my last truck and I read the book very carefully. You have to change the fluid and filter every 100,000 miles if you want to keep the truck for a long time. It’s not expensive it just takes a lot of patience letting it drain out. If you don’t plan on keeping the truck then change it at the first 100,000 then every 200,000 after.
Yes. Really, any viscosity is fine, you're trading protection for fuel economy. Thinner is for fuel economy, thicker is for protection. If you look at the viscosity numbers at operating temperature are not as different as you might think. My trucks are summer only severe service, so I use thicker.
Freightliner Cascadia should use 75w90 synthetic gear oil, but you can also ask the guy at the dealer parts once you give him the last six of your VIN.
Just because you do your own work doesn't mean you also can't read up on the procedure from a Service Manual. Also ask questions of knowledgeable people.

Amazon, but really all you need is the 5/8” female square socket. For the other plug, you can just use a 1/2” drive ratchet or socket extension bar, which most people already have in their tool set.
why you did not drain the oil from the axle hub, you can not remove the oil from the axle hub from the bottom drain plug on the rear end, the way you did it you should have just filled it from the fill plug because you did not remove any oil from the hub
I just drained and filled both rear differentials on concrete truck that I drive at work. We filled it until it started leaking out the hole in which we were filling.
@@wiredforstereo we didn’t use measurements. we use a simple hand pump on the 5 gallon gear oil pail. The instruction is (after you’ve drained it) to take out the top plug, which is actually somewhere near the middle ; then you keep pumping it until you noticed that it flows out of the hole once it starts overflowing that’s when you know you’ve put enough in. Asking for specific measurements is a little redundant due to the fact that differentials vary in size based on the truck. Just trying to give you the facts. No ego involved.

thank you for video
I little confuse. We can refill oil at the hub or ar differential hole? Is Hub oil and differential are same oil? 🤨
Any owner considering doing this. I changed my diff and trans fluid my last PM as well as the engine oil and truck is pulling so much harder.

Where can I buy that oil pump for the 5gal bucket?

Yes 75w90 is synthetic version of 80w90. You would be amazed in the difference between 75w90syn and 80w90 in -20’c temps
80 140 the best
how often should we change differential oil or how many miles?
You can look up recommendations. 250k for severe service, 500k for road. Or maybe 750, I don't remember.
What sae oíl you put in the differentials?
75w-90 synthetic is standard.
What kind of oil you use in this video?
75w90 synthetic gear oil

As far i know, its recommended to change around 250k miles , thanks for watching sir 🙏
