I just finished reading Aesthetica yesterday and I loved it! I was interested in seeing where her relationship with her mother, her friends, her agent/boyfriend would take her. The plastic surgery addiction and other addictions were fascinating for me to read. I wish I had done a buddy read with this book because there are so many interesting themes for discussion. And the ending....

Oh no! We loved the complicated mother vs. daughter vs. childhood friend dynamics and the way it shows how you can feel powerful one moment and realize it was all a cruel illusion of power the next! Completely agree with pretty much all of your thoughts on this book. I also thought it only had conversations we’re already having about these procedures and didn’t offer anything more. Fingers crossed we like more of aardvark’s picks in the future 🤞🏼 I think house of eve sounds so good!

Can’t believe you’re 35 weeks pregnant!!! So close!! I’m 20 weeks pregnant now. Still 4 and a bit months to go for me! I’d love to know what you’re absolute best experience has been throughout pregnancy?! Also.. sorry about the book!! Premise sounded so good too.. pity!

I can totally relate to your feelings on Aesthetica! I am looking forward to reading Upgrade by Blake Crouch because the idea reminds me of what I thought Aesthetica was, but slightly sci-fi.. just more up my alley. Considered genetic engineering sci-fi! Hopefully combines the best of both. 😊🤞

I finished “House of Eve” and gave it 5 stars. I absolutely loved it but you may want to look into the themes because it may not be the best book to read directly post partum.
