Very interesting point of view: stop networking because of the network. But make fun, search for people you feel OK and become true friends. This network of friends will give you clients. True friends, true clients
60 years old, out of work for a long time, freelancing seems the only choice.Realistic video, yet not very encouraging for someone just starting out and without any other income or savings. But thanks for the advise.
I'm in the same situation..same age, laid off almost two years ago and no jobs out there pay what I was getting. Seems that, no matter how many interviews I got, everyone was younger than me and I never had a call back.
Hopefully you found something by now. But there are options. Uber or Lyft. Grubhub and Doordash. Also you may need to work at Walmart or someplace you don't want to just to make some consistent income while finding freelance work on your free time.
Loving this advice too, thank you.
