A truly incredible job. What a job and all those Philips headed bolts which can so easily foul up. This is special.

I just watched both vids in awe of the skills of the restorer, my only regret is that I learned navigation and not engineering in the navy

Great job! Can't wait to hear the sound of that engine! I had 2 cubs in my youth and loved them (despite the constant breakdowns and big ends going!)

Brilliant restore video. However, at 12:37 you can see that the primary crankcase seal E3379, is the wrong way round. The seal spring should be facing the crank, to help prevent a chain case oil leak from the clutch side layshaft.

Cannot understand why you polished the outer cases but not the points cover or crankcase plugs, or the head casting for that matter. I also didn't see any lubricant applied to the bearing surfaces whilst rebuilding the engine? However there was a lot missed out so may have missed those bits? All in all a nice job, now we need to see and hear it running!!

This motor's weakness was the big-end bearing, it was a plain bearing instead of a roller, I ran three of them. I think there was a roller conversion...

Yes there was alpha cost £7.10s , i had a cub in 1966 drove it as fast as it would go all the time ,after two big end failures fitted the roller type .

Telling fault was that the engine sprocket needed a strip down to do it. A way they were telling you it would last that long before clapping out. As for a triumph frame characteristic of two long bent tubes going to the headstock was another way of saying it will not handle at all well, it needs the tank to give the frame ‘stiffness’ but it didn’t.

I loved my Tiger Cub! Way back in 1968. I don't recall any part of the engine was painted except the barrel. Did you replace all worn bearings and seals and have a rebore with the new piston ? I know parts availability is an issue these days and you can do only the best you can. You certainly did a thorough of cleaning. Very nice.

Question, Do you have to soak the clutch plates in oil before you put it together? The motor looks great by the way!

Saludos.

That is more like a corpse of a motorcycle. I gave you guys a lot of credit for restoring something that looks as bad as that. But let's face it you're not restoring as much as remanufacturing it. When they are in that far gone a shape that is.
