TIMES._* Here's some context, at the end of the fourth book, George and Harold tell Professor Poopypants that if he doesen't want people to laugh at his name, he should change it, so he realizes his mistake and adopts his fathers' name "Tippy Tinkletrousers" Fast forward a bit to the end of the eighth book, Tippy chases after George and Harold and time clones himself three times into "Mega Tippy" (The first one) "Tiny Tippy" (The Second one) and "Slightly Younger Tiny Tippy/Super Mega Tippy" (The third one) Firstly, the characters travel back to the Prehistoric era, Mega Tippy tries to eliminate Captain Underpants once and for all, with an Atomic Bomb. The other Tippys', Captain Underpants, and George and Harold escape to the Pre-Ice Age era, and Tiny Tippy accidentally kicks off the Ice Age, They all escape again, but Super Mega Tippy brings out his Atomic Bomb, and claims it has the ability to blow up a Supernova, Crackers and Sulu set off the time machine and bring him back to the beginning of time, meaning that Super Mega Tippy caused the universe to begin, by creating the Big Bang
My Ratings: Story - 8/10 - Definitely stays true to the goofy, natural style of the books. Even though I haven't read any of them, I am still familiar with them and was quite impressed. Animation - 10/10 - The studio that did the animation deserves a standing ovation, because I don't think it could've been any better. Characters - 7/10 - Agreed with the fact that these characters work on the "hanging out with" side, but not entirely as movie characters. Either way, they also stay true to the books, which I credit DreamWorks for. Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie - 8/10 (25/30) - This was undoubtedly one of the funniest films DreamWorks has ever brought out, and I can't help but applaud them for finally getting their act together after their previous two failures. I just wonder if this will find itself becoming a franchise after looking at its subtitle, though...

I would give it an 8/10. I LOVE the 4th wall humour and the animation depicts Pilkey’s drawings perfectly. Apart from a few plot holes and a bit too fast pace, it’s a solid, entertaining movie.

Yeah an 8/10 or 9/10 is pretty fitting for this movie. yeah, it's not perfect or the best, but dammit it was a blast to watch this. Also can I just say that I was stunned to hear Professor P's voice? I didn't see a preview of him, so it shocked me that he was in the movie-but his voice was EXACTLY like I imagined it to be when I read the books as a kid (yes I too grew up with Captain Underpants in my elementary school years)

As a fan of the books as a kid, I was really hyped for this movie when I heard it was in production. I remember my big sister getting tickets for me and my brothers and sisters and watching this in the cinemas in honor of me and my twin brother's 13th birthday and we both had a lot of fun watching it. The whoopee cushion scene... Oh stars. *The. Flipping. Whoopee. Cushion. Scene.* This may seem crazy but that scene had me and my twin laughing uncontrollably. And I don't even like fart jokes!
I enjoyed this movie way more than I probably should have. I laughed so much at this movie that my friend asked me if I was okay. Part of it was giving into the immature nature of the film, and the other part was my excitement to see these characters from my childhood on the screen. I really hope we get more Captain Underpants movies.
I was the same with the books. I loved the first 7, and then it got all strange and unenjoyable for me. The eighth book, Captain Underpants doesn't even get a line!
Seeing those books being presented gave me a large shot of nostalgia. I read all the books up to "Super Diaper Baby" and I loved the immature but creative humour that the books had. I used to love Flip-O-Rama, and it may have been a slight inspiration for my love of animation.
Man, I fricken love Captain Underpants. I remember being in a play for children where one of the characters was hypnotized into being captain underpants and an idiot while making him do math problems. Good times...

I'm surprised that Dreamworks hasn't made any plans to make a Captain Underpants sequel. According too an upcoming animated movies video I watched a 4th How to Train Your Dragon film(You haven't even finished the 3rd one and you said that would be the ending!) was planned for 2022. God I hope HTYD3 isn't a terrible film!
Ryan Ozog That's old news that was debunked years ago when they were still in the early stages of HTTYD 3. The creators breifly considered making the film a two-parter (which I think actually could have worked in this particular case), but ultimately decided against it.
I never grew up with the books, kids at my school (mostly thr boys) would read them and rave about them, but I wasn't really into it. The trailers and this review kind of made me wish I read the books. I love full on comedies and movies that are nonstop laughs, so I may watch this on my own time.
Gotta give the animation a 10/10. Gotta support when an animation stop trying to be realistic and invest in its own creative style with an not so big budget.
Fugitoid 123 I remember first time I watched Brave and thinking to myself how a let down the visuals were. The animation was great,no discussion on that, but the style was trying so hard to look realistic and to feel realistic that it never allowed the movie to be the magical fairy tale it was supposed to be. Even the colors were even more pale that many live action movies!
Great film! so much so I considered this to be one of the Best films based on a book. I'm already demanding for a sequel. (I wouldn't be crazy if the title would say first that means there's a 2nd)
One other reason I would watch this movie is because of the theme by "Weird Al" Yankovic! Glad that they used him because he was referenced in the first book.
I absolutely loved the movie, but the only 2 criticism I have with it is that, I didn't like the Turbo Toilet 2000 design and role (Kinda wished it was the Gerbo Jogger), and that they took away the depth of Professor Poopypants. It would be much more interesting if he was a good scientist and was pushed to insanity like he was in the book.
I like this review a lot because animat basically predicted the rise of skipping frames for animation. He said that other studios will use it more and boom Spiderverse, arcane, and dreamworks most recent films like the bad guys or puss in boots
You know, There where 5 more Captain Underpants Books And Professor Poopypants DIED in the 10th book, also The Turbo Toilet 2000 Came back to life in the 11th book, and FINALLY, Mr. Meaner makes a spray that brainwashes children to make them behave in The finale in Captain Underpants: The Sensational Saga Of Sir-Stinks-a-lot
If/when they make a sequel, hopefully they will add more personality to characters who need it, and that Wedgie Woman will be the villain because she will be very entertaining
I absolutely love love looove these books!! I'll be honest while the movie is great I found it kind of strange that there already having the Talking Toilets, Turbo Toilet 2000, and Prof Poopy Pants already introduced in the first film. Now I want to see an animated movie of Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot series, DogZilla, and Dumb Bunnies (don't know if you read those books too or not)
Read the books up to the 8th one growing up. Now I had to reread all of them (the mainstream series) since I felt something nostalgic about this series. Loved it as a kid.

Yeah an 8/10 or 9/10 is pretty fitting for this movie. yeah, it's not perfect or the best, but dammit it was a blast to watch this.
Also can I just say that I was stunned to hear Professor P's voice? I didn't see a preview of him, so it shocked me that he was in the movie-but his voice was EXACTLY like I imagined it to be when I read the books as a kid (yes I too grew up with Captain Underpants in my elementary school years)
Both Poopypants and Captain Underpants sound like they were lifted straight out of my head. :D

Why did you stop reading the Captain Underpants books?
Some books were released years apart - book 8 came out 3 years after book 7, then it took 6 years for book 9 to come out.
The reason for the long gap between books was due to Pilkey taking time off to help care for his ill father, who passed in 2008.

As a fan of the books as a kid, I was really hyped for this movie when I heard it was in production. I remember my big sister getting tickets for me and my brothers and sisters and watching this in the cinemas in honor of me and my twin brother's 13th birthday and we both had a lot of fun watching it. The whoopee cushion scene... Oh stars. *The. Flipping. Whoopee. Cushion. Scene.* This may seem crazy but that scene had me and my twin laughing uncontrollably. And I don't even like fart jokes!

I enjoyed this movie way more than I probably should have. I laughed so much at this movie that my friend asked me if I was okay. Part of it was giving into the immature nature of the film, and the other part was my excitement to see these characters from my childhood on the screen. I really hope we get more Captain Underpants movies.

Seeing those books being presented gave me a large shot of nostalgia.
I read all the books up to "Super Diaper Baby" and I loved the immature but creative humour that the books had. I used to love Flip-O-Rama, and it may have been a slight inspiration for my love of animation.
Man, I fricken love Captain Underpants. I remember being in a play for children where one of the characters was hypnotized into being captain underpants and an idiot while making him do math problems. Good times...

I'm surprised that Dreamworks hasn't made any plans to make a Captain Underpants sequel. According too an upcoming animated movies video I watched a 4th How to Train Your Dragon film(You haven't even finished the 3rd one and you said that would be the ending!) was planned for 2022.
God I hope HTYD3 isn't a terrible film!
Ryan Ozog That's old news that was debunked years ago when they were still in the early stages of HTTYD 3. The creators breifly considered making the film a two-parter (which I think actually could have worked in this particular case), but ultimately decided against it.
Finally
I never grew up with the books, kids at my school (mostly thr boys) would read them and rave about them, but I wasn't really into it. The trailers and this review kind of made me wish I read the books. I love full on comedies and movies that are nonstop laughs, so I may watch this on my own time.

Gotta give the animation a 10/10. Gotta support when an animation stop trying to be realistic and invest in its own creative style with an not so big budget.
Fugitoid 123 I remember first time I watched Brave and thinking to myself how a let down the visuals were. The animation was great,no discussion on that, but the style was trying so hard to look realistic and to feel realistic that it never allowed the movie to be the magical fairy tale it was supposed to be. Even the colors were even more pale that many live action movies!
If only they could make George and Harold sound like actual 4th graders...

Great film! so much so I considered this to be one of the Best films based on a book. I'm already demanding for a sequel. (I wouldn't be crazy if the title would say first that means there's a 2nd)
One other reason I would watch this movie is because of the theme by "Weird Al" Yankovic! Glad that they used him because he was referenced in the first book.

I absolutely loved the movie, but the only 2 criticism I have with it is that, I didn't like the Turbo Toilet 2000 design and role (Kinda wished it was the Gerbo Jogger), and that they took away the depth of Professor Poopypants. It would be much more interesting if he was a good scientist and was pushed to insanity like he was in the book.

I'll be honest while the movie is great I found it kind of strange that there already having the Talking Toilets, Turbo Toilet 2000, and Prof Poopy Pants already introduced in the first film.
Now I want to see an animated movie of Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot series, DogZilla, and Dumb Bunnies (don't know if you read those books too or not)
Read the books up to the 8th one growing up. Now I had to reread all of them (the mainstream series) since I felt something nostalgic about this series. Loved it as a kid.
