A lot of interviewers are suck ups. This guy, you can see the respect.
Aaron Horrell glad you dug it!
You can see the impact it has when the interviewer gives as much love and respect to the artist interviewed as this guy right here, props to the studio for picking him.
Facts only one I've seen the rest don't take it as serious
I mean Kendrick is good friends with the guy interviewing him
Kendrick Lamar wasn't born to be the next 2pac. He's the 1st and only Kendrick Lamar. Let artists be artists. None can or will be duplicated.
AIRG01 right! They now compare the weeknd to Michael Jackson
oh hell fucking no. comparing weeknd to michael jackson is like comparing a porn star to michelle obama
Apples & Oranges I agree with you honestly
Yeah hard
Xxxtentacion was the closest thing to Tupac of the new generation
One of the most important artist of our time. Humility, integrity and genius. A very powerful combination.
Crow Kangi negius
Crow Kangi 100 % bro
Kendrick is one of the greatest artists to have ever lived
Absolutely
@@hippiecheezburger5457 🎯🎯🎯🚫🧢💯
I feel like Kendrick is smarter than college poetry professors
Hes very naturally intelligent, but he's not very formally educated.
+jivy96 you can't equate education to intelligence... Taking classes don't make you a poet. It makes you a little better at structuring your sentences n stuff, but it don't make you a poet. It make you well read n grammatically correct, but it don't make u a poet. Poets like Kendrick are forged thru hardship and emotional/mental isolation
Isaac Soto I was speaking about learning history and learning about art and ideas of those before you. Learning those things is priceless.
+jivy96 being naturally intelligent isn't really a thing, just got to use the little you know, expand on that with a little bullshit and people will buy it
+Hugo Santos yup no one in the world is stupid. ignorant but not stupid. and ignorance can be ridden if the person chooses to educate themself
He is going to be in the top five of all-time when all is said and done.
1 Big L
2 Nas
3 Andre 3000
4 2pac
5 Biggie
6 Jay z
7 Eazy E
8 Krs One
theredman10 I don't know if Snoop or Eazy are top ten material but i agree with the 5 list, except i would switch up PAC and Em
I like pac's story telling ability
theredman10 I'd only have Dre there if we include producers. As a guy who used ghostwriters as extensively as he did, even on The Chronic, he's not really top ten MC material.
zack4rap facepalm
2:42 kendrick is one of a few people on planet earth, who are actually thinking before they speak
FACTS
He said "we're so confined with HATE wanna point out people's flaws when they don't see the BIG picture"💯💯💯💯💯
Ikr its like he thinks 3 times before he says something
It felt so relatable seeing Kendrick do that, lowkey one of the first times I've seen someone else do that.
Like Tupac once said. "A letter to my unborn child".
True
Notorious well done brother
Notorious facts! 😭❤️
this was a song for our whole generation that wasnt born at that time yet.
Amazing interview. Kendrick really is the realest negus alive
Word
I see u all over on videos with Kendrick in them
Eva Morales Kendrick's my favorite rapper...obviously lol
Samurai Jack the reason why he be on all his videos is because Kendrick is his favorite rapper let that man breathe.
Samurai Jack you could tell the interviewer was actually a fan of his music and he showed respect
this is the closest we'll ever get to a Cole x Kendrick collab
ahahahahaha
Bruh lmfao
OH MY GOD I CHOCKED 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
MCFriedChicken1 hold this W
Yoo I'm glad I aint the only one that thought the Interviewer looked like Cole 😂😂😂
I respect a man who takes a moment before answering a question. A man who pauses to think while trying to express an idea. You respond. You don't react.
"I'm not saying I'm gonna change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world." -2PAC
SN: With that being said Kendrick is definitely one of those brains.... #givethanks
i'm your 420th like which is very cool
J.cole joey bada$$ big sean eminem too
Thanks for doing this MTV. Kendrick didn't make an album for the mainstream, but it's good to see the mainstream giving him coverage. Respect.
Ed Willis we love kendrick at MTV. Glad we could put this together.
He made it for very one what you mean
Ed Willis they don't care really about the artist just the fact that he's still famous and making music.
Manuel De Anda yup just caring bout ratings like any other tv channel
+antony farfan I agree with most of them but I'd take out Jay Z, Andre, and Tec, and I'd put in Aesop Rock, MF DOOM (All caps when you spell the man's name :) ) and Kanye.
In 15 years some new rapper is gonna credit kendrick with inspiring him
I promise to give him and cole credit bro.
I'm already giving them credit #BrokenWings is a working process
+lesley campbell Cole is good but no one can touch Kendrick rn
+Jake Hazen well you gotta think about it bro the way kendrick touch you with his music cole might touch a person the same way, and drake might touch another person the way k dot and cole touch us So we all have a favorite
+Evan Babin We might not hve 15 years. We might not even have 1 year.
Props to the interviewer. Obviously a guy who loves artists and music and feels deeply. Really excellent work as both a journalist and a person. Made all these segments that much more watchable. Respect.
BRUH Kendrick was one of those kids that watch Tupac shoot videos a decade ago...look at him now, he's the new Tupac. So one of those kids in the crowd with evolve into the Kendrick/Tupac line of succession...if you think about it, this shit is never going to die. Kendrick and Tupac will live on far longer than any others out right now. I believe it
Aj Gyampoh A decade? Try TWO decades man… it doesn't feel that long, but it is!
***** you're right brother, time has sprinted by!
Reach one teach one
Only similarity is they from compton lol they rap style is completely different kendrick wishes he was pac thats y he pushes pac on people so hard.
Aj Gyampoh i was thinking literally the same thing when he said this. give it 20 more years and a kid from that crowd will be back to save hip hop again. lol
Just watched all 4 parts of this interview. Straight up, I did not get the hype on Kendrick after GKMC, and I didnt like his voice, flow, any of that. Only really heard him on collab songs. After TPAB was getting incredible reviews, again I didnt understand why. I listened to it, and it won me over. Im a huge funk/soul fan, so the beats true me in right away. But since then, his style, stories, etc won me over. Now Im listening to all of his albums, realizing I've been sleeping on a dude who has such an idea, message, and delivery in his music. So much more to it than just music. A true artist.
👏👏
You found the poet, the genius inside him just like me i was listening to King Kunta moving ma head to the vibe dont thinking then i started listening deeper and damn he sure is the best one right now from my POV
Man Kendrick is the shit r8 now
+Rico Roman Same here, I knew he was nice from radio hits like poetic justice and collard greens. BUT... I started to see the greatness through his energy in live performances (SNL-I love myself and Grammys 2014). Now, Im religiously listening to "TPAB" and its nothing short of amazing, Mortal Man and Alright are my favs!
He's definitely an artist that demands a lot of consideration and contemplation on the listener's part, which some who aren't used to that either in their hip hop taste or in general might be turned off by, but it really pays off. Whenever I hear someone shitting on today's music I use him as a reason to be hopeful about it.
Kendrick Lamar saved my life
How
Me and you both my man
💯💯
Same
Kendrick made you think about it, but he is not your savior.
I remember you was conflicted...
I have no words to describe what Pimp a Butterfly is, but one thing I'm pretty sure is that, I'm one lucky motherfucker to live in the same time that Kendrick is begining this new era, the greatest artist I've seen so far until I was born.
I've been saying this too, man. We are all so lucky to be able to witness this. Kendrick is something else
+Paulo Henrique Right, but you even know King Los?
Paulo Henrique BORN IN THE RIGHT GENERATION!!!
fun fact: Kendricks birthday is one day after Pacs birthday
Sage of Light & Darkness. I AM That I AM shiiiit
Sage of Light & Darkness. I AM That I AM and so is my mom’s birthday. and hers is the same year as Pac 💯❤️
When shit hits the fan,is u still a fan?
Gemini gang
If Pac was alive, kendrick would definately be on an album with him through their links through DRE, would be absolutely insane
+YBG come on, see how dr dre is still rocking it with likes of eminem( who is 40vi think) so why couldnt 2pac do it. if he was alive and did a record with lama, it could really be quite something.
+YBG your right, he or she would be BETTER 👌
But what if he was still here....when he talks to Pac in that interview I kinda felt like it was a real conversation.
KingBucksGaming Jay Z
If pac was alive, Kendrick will be working at Mac Donald’s
Kendrick Lamar, by far, realest NEGUS alive
If you guys are wondering why kendrick has a little stutter problem it's because when he was a little kid he saw his uncle get shot and he had a stutter problem after that.
Yeah haha he's gotten better to not stutter that much.
Is it possible to have a stutter problem from that or is it an excuse?
It's traumatizing bro
Jake From State Farm really? who said that
Dom776 He never said it in an interview but I'll try an find a link to it bro
The guy interviewing Kendrick has so much love & respect for him. Watching these four interviews made me love Kendrick Lamar even more & respect him 100x more as an artist. I caught wind of the energy, Kendrick's energy as well throughout all four. I saw something even when he smiled in his eyes. He looks like he's been in deep thought & emotionally drained.
Best Kendrick interview I have ever seen!
i love how the interviewer ends it "the same care that you put into recording it, we gonna put the care into listening, rewinding, breaking it down"
Legit, I get chills every time this man opens up about things. You have no choice, but to believe that what he is telling you is true. The deepness in his eyes doesn't lie one bit. This interview was great man. I enjoy this album, and I haven't been able to go a day without listening to the whole thing, or at least a handful of songs from it. Appreciate the fact he did what he wanted with this album, and tried to do something with it that is much bigger than him. Bigger than any of us really. All praises due to the most high. Keep it up Kendrick. The world is listening more than you can even fathom.
I would love to meet Kendrick, even if it's for two minutes he is such an interesting guy
same
Mortal man is def one of the most urgent songs of all time. The message is so deep
Thank you and Rest In Peace to Mother Shakur for allowing Kendrick to use Pac's vocals
I haven't seen an interviewer so sharp in a very long time. Other interviewers ask the most annoying questions... "So you from Compton right?" "Oh it's real rough out there huh?" "Is it true your parents are from Chicago?" 😐 but this brother right here... Got to give respect where it is due. 👌🏽💪🏽💯
Mortal Man is my favorite track on the album. I also appreciate how humble & real this guy is. He is definitely not letting the fame change him & is trying to convey a real message.
Blows my mind that K-DOT is actually saying he takes responsibility for guiding the youth. Keep thinking about this Pac quote at 1:06
I Will Spark The Brain That Will Change The World - Tupac: ua-cam.com/video/uijBebYpoto/v-deo.html
This man is different. Protect him at all cost
This interviewer shits on the Breakfast Club
This made me wanna go back and listen to the album. This is a very important album not just for the black community but for LIFE. I hope Kendrick makes a movie out of this or something.
He admits that hes follows 2pac steps even he says that he had a vision with 2pac i love 2pac and i dont think theres never be another like him but kendrick is one of the realest rappers today so im not saying kendrick is the next 2pac but hes the only one the speak the truth and messages through his music like 2pac did so i see 2pac roots growing in the concrete...
I think he is simply keeping 2pac's legacy alive through preaching messages in the effort to inspire
I love the interviewer!
He actually listens to what Kendrick says and keeps building on that, but not too long. Better than some ''I ask you a question, you answer, next one''- interviewers.
Love how he takes his time to think then reply. Enough people don't do that these days and find themselves saying things they don't mean. Also enough people also don't give you the time to think about your response. It's almost like a sign of weakness that you can't come up with something to say in less than 2 seconds.
"How many leaders you said you needed and left them for dead?" That line struck me.
The interview I've been looking for. I didn't know I was looking for it but I just kept watching kendrick lamar interviews until I came across this one. All the others were just preludes to this. This whole Interview made me take a step back and truly look at kendrick lamar for who he is. This man is doing God's work, even if he doesn't truly see the magnitude of it. Keep going.
kenneth madden glad you enjoyed it... It felt like a special one.
"I'll make a album that'll put a smile on Malcom/Make Martin Luther tell God im the future for heavens talent" - Kendrick
When your album has a multi-part breakdown, you just gotta know its something serious. Kendrick is by no means the second coming of Pac but we are experiencing a legend. This dude has my up most respect!
I'm wondering if anyone else thought of it like this. To me Section 80 played like a book, Good Kid Maad City played like a movie and then To Pimp A Butterfly plays out like poetry. Since to me I can't honestly listen to just one specific song from either album I always bang out from the start till the end without skipping a track. That's just how good Kendricks music is
What was DAMN like to you. To me it was a puzzle
@@shaanraval5374 you DAmn Right
4:21 Kendrick speaks truth.
true
Just finished this series of interview videos and for some reason I found tears in my eyes at the end. Kendricks struggle was pouring out so heavily despite his composure.. soul searching stuff. I'm so grateful for Kendrick
This was so deep I could see Adele rolling in it...
2pac and kendrick interview on mortal man is insane true talent a new legend is born king kendrick! keeping the best rapper ever legacy alive 2PAC!!
I was born a little while after pacs death and I started listening to him early on in my childhood, I loved him and I feel the same way about K dot. He is defiantly following in his footsteps I think. Some of the best.
This interviewer need more props this is great!
Kendrick was the kid that loved listening tupac and wished he could be him now he is in the same position as he once was. the voice of a generation ,A leader, A real negus
I love how he takes the time in between questions to come up with a real deep answer
He thinks about what he says before he says it. None of it is gut instinct, but each phrase is carefully designed before he says it. Genius.
This was such a beautiful interview. So much emotion
Watched this after listening TPAB for the first time. And never been more hyped for a new record than for Kendrick's. Only 4 days left! This man deserves all the praise from the critics, his peers and his fans. Lots of love from Germany!!!
Did you like the album? What do you think about it?
@@Yunche17 I think TPAB is less accessible for a conventional hip hop listener, but I like it a lot as I'm a sucker for jazzy sounds. But all of K.Dot's albums are great and unique.
@@ajindie9989 nice.
I love how he puts so much thought into each answer you can tell it's genuine
Inspiring

GOT THE MOST CHILLS OF MY LIFE
I love Kendrick Lamar's voice
That dap at the end was true beauty. Nothing but love from both sides man.
Crazy thing is that these four pieces made me feel like I was the one having a conversation with Kendrick. Shout out to the interviewer, definitely questions we wanted to hear being asked.
So emotionally honest, really love him for that
I've been listening to "To Pimp A Butterfly" for about a year now and it still hasn't lost it's powerfulness. I'm still learning shit, and picking up new stuff from it. And this "Untitled Unmastered" EP he just put out, I think it adds to that "To Pimp A Butterfly" experience. It helps you understand the headspace he was in while working on the album.
This was a wonderful interview. And I appreciate this interviewer he asked a lot of good questions the questions a lot of us had and to be able to get this from Kendrick was pretty amazing.
I love how he pauses after each question is answered and really thinks about how he can answer and include all the intricate details that he wants to bring across. An amazing and engaging interview. Kendrick Lamar is just ahead of the pack and really shows the passion that he puts into his music. An incredible soul and forever one of the greats
What starks me is he’s humility and integrity. Such a great man.
One thing I've noticed and love about Kendrick is how you can really tell that he thinks about what he wants to say before he says it. In a world where everyone speaks so quickly just so they can get their word in, I have a lot of respect for a man who does the opposite.
Classic interview shout out to you kDot love brother 🫡💯🤎👊
2020 and am still pimping this interview
Just like those kids, I believe that his music saved my life amongst other things, and I'm not old enough to remember pac alive, but I'm sure as hell that I'm happy to grow up with kendricks music. K.
ThisIsNotMyID shut up Joe!
It's just a true blessing living in the same time has Kendrick, he has the gift to reach everything!! 👑👑
Bruh..im Speechless. This Entire interview was Amazing..Alot ov Wisdom N Relatable Topics..God Bless yuh kendrick !
Amen to everything Kendrick is about!! Mad respect for Kendrick! To the guy interviewing, amazing work man!!! Loved everything about this interview im in the underground music scene in Chicago but way different genre i can relate. Much love Kendrick God bless.
BEST INTERVIEW EVER DONE WITH KENDRICK..FINALLY SOMEONE ASKING REAL QUESTIONS AND NOT DUMBSHIT LIKE WHEN HIS NEXT ALBUM GONNA DROP AND BULLSHIT GOSSIP! SALUTE !
Great interview, tbh i felt like the album was a lot deeper than what was explained in the interview though, but that might just be how i interpreted it, and that's Art.
Ben Behibro it really is. We had limited time and only scratched the surface. the album is so great
I love 2Pac and Kendrick Lamar Salute to the both of them. #LEGENDARY
I love the way he takes his pauses to think about his next words. Everything he says truly means something and he chooses his words carefully. Kendrick is going to be one of the greatest when it's all said and done.
kendrick is todays 2pac
No. Kendrick is Kendrick.
this music thing is a cycle
***** Ye 2pac wud put his pants on one leg at a time too...music repeats itself...aint none new under the sun...blakcer the berry, lie to kick it, hood politics, momma mortal man all sound like 2pac tracks to me...lsiten to 2pacalypse now kendrick is definetly addin his own twist to this but gotta give it to the original
Larry Bandž i feel u but cant deny pac influence him a whole lot on this album cant deny that
True , he's inspired almost everyone .
Great interview!
He's so humble. I love this guy. He's the one of the best of all time!
The interview at the end of immortal man gave me chills real dope album
Damn this gives me chills
This album is timeless, probably his deepest album ever!
Through this 4 Part Interview my eyes have yet again being opened .Thank You Kendrick
This album is on replay for me. I love the vibe and everything this albums come with. Thank goodness for kendrick.
Never really happened before with music but I got kinda emotional when I heard that Michael Jackson line from Mortal Man
People always tryna be the next pac or the next whoever, what you need to do is be the next you.
Preach classic interview fasho 🙏🤎kdot speak brother 🙏
Watched all 4, I just want to cry when I listen to the music & interviews. I see him evolving and it gets better. Thankful to have a few artist in the industry who can balance things out with knowledge. I'm glad I had a chance to meet him. My first concert was kendricks in 2012, now he's so big I probably will never be that close again lol. I'm so happy & praying for him. 🙏🏽💯
Kendrick Lamar is going to be the greatest of all time when it's all said and done. Never have I been so proud of this generation of hip-hop . Much love for this guy...
I love the way he always reflect before saying something.
when will kanye
I love Kendrick Lamar so much he's so humble and down to earth
So real and humble. Love to pick Kendrick's brain
My question to kendrick is, what's his relationship with god?
Listen to Sing About Me, I'm Dying Of Thirst. It's a true story.
me to man me too....
He talks about it about that he loves god but he doesn't understand his plan since he 'put' him in the ghetto and he grew up poor with people dying daily
do you remember where he talked about it? I wanna see it tbh
Not really, but it was mentioned in the interview. You just gotta listen closely
This fucking guy ! Kendrick you the man. Also, props to Rob Markman. That is the smoothest interview in the history.
Now look! 8-9 years later & he did it! He’s now up there with the greats he projected & grew
The thing that stood out to me the most was how incredibly thoughtful Kendrick is with everything he said. He takes time to think and everything he says is deliberate, he is just another level mentally and spiritually. Also I have never seen an interview by this guy but I thought he was fantastic, you can tell he is a truly passionate hip hop head. A quality that I value really highly is people that listen to understand, not to reply. I was blown away to find that both of them did so throughout. That was really fun to watch thanks for keepin it real!
Best rapper out there today!
This dude is literally a genius. He is one of the greatest of all time man, even if it's too soon to say it
YOU R Such a BLESSING!!!Aluta Continua!🌞🌙⭐️🌊🌍😓
So much more to this guy than meets the eye, his so real....so down to earth,
Keep the fatih, Give the love
