I am a king, no matter what you call me, got me teary eyed
Kendrick looks like he wandered the earth searching for life's meaning and found it unlike everyone else lol
brickbreak555 accurate
brickbreak555 He's a pisces moon.
+Picasso Gold He's actually a Gemini.
Bernell Scott yes he's a gemini. But what the person was referring to is that his moon sign is in pisces.
Hes still wandering but surely is further in his Quest than most people
Kendrick is one of very few people that its hard not to respect
Respek*
+goodrapmusic respeck**
eminem is also one of those
.
+goodrapmusic .
Crazy that J. Cole is interviewing Kendrick on his album.
Lol They won't make an album but they'll make an interview, that's messed up!
Shari D stfu
Shari D Why? It's simple.....it's meant to be a joke. I'm sure the original commenter sees this dude isn't J. Cole and sees his actual name in the description.I guess you didn't catch it. Just a joke ma'am
J. Cole just went platinum bitch show him some respect
sean24833 Chill out I'm a J. Cole fan also I'm just saying the dude looks like him lol.
He's got flow even when he's just talking. His voice is a blessing.
ya
he IS a blessing

😂😂😂😂😂😂 crying
Kanye called Kendrick a visionary. He wasn't wrong.
Where did he say that?
Erick Farias In the video 'Kanye West Talks "Yeezus 2," "Watch The Throne 2," Kendrick Lamar's "Control Verse" & More' at 10min 45sec and also tweeted "KENDRICK IS AN INSPIRATION.THANK YOU FOR THE VIBRATIONS AND THE SPIRIT YOUR MEANING, MESSAGE EXECUTION ARE GIFTS TO THE WORLD"
wait, kanye said someone besides himself is a visionary? WHOAH
+bsheehy94 If you get Kanye to give someone besides himself props, you're special.
+King Kirin he ain't drop the album but the shoes went platinum
Even if you dont like Lamar's music, this man has such a good soul.
Yeah that's why Lucy wants it!
right
right
too bad he sold it
Wumbo Gaming he hasn't sold it that's what he wants you to believe
Kendrick is pure. You can see in his eyes that he's a true person. He doesn't make music for money, he makes music because this is the way he found to express himself and his toughts. I'm really proud of him. Success didn't change him. Well done Kendrick.
Lucyhippy95 Big yes 💯
Art of music is far more important.
idk he kinda sold out a little bit with ‘damn.’ it just wasn’t near the caliber of his previous releases and sounded like he was trying too hard to appease the masses
Caleb Kuster give the man a break it’s still super amazing and lowkey might be the best because it has all the best elements in one album as far as not just concept but also production and lyrics and everything that shot can be played backwards kendricks crazy
@@urlocaldegenerate6188 DAMN will be appreciated in time. Even though he did a lot of commerical hits on there, it's still different than any other rap album ever released. It still has the Kendrick touch.
His eyes speak of genuineness and greatness. I've never seen a man with such charisma before.
+Innocent Plus he is so young but he seems older. His experiences has shaped in a way that is extraordinary. He isn't the stereotype and isn't trying to be something.
OMG for real!! I really don't care much about him or his music but sometimes I get his interviews as suggestions and Everytime I decide to watch them I can't help but feel weird.like the feeling you get when you fall in love.
literally.
their is a softness to his face.
his stare is deep and a little guarded.his voice draws you in. his mind seems to be restless behind his eyes.
charisma I suppose yes.
I would totally fall hard for him if I were in his entourage
Mudenge Mukundwa dude me too 😥
Innocent he is sexy as hell...
I ask you look at david Bowie. Another man who had amazing charm and charisma
When my friend first showed me Kendrick I didn't really listen and kinda thought he was just another generic Rapper. Oh boy was I wrong.
obitoSix Same
Me too man glad I didn't stop listening to him
obitoSix Heard m.a.a.d city in the vines and thought it was dope, and ever since I'm a big fan
I was never a fan of rap because I really like deeper lyrics, but I kept getting recommendations to listen to Kendrick Lamar and i listened to a song or two and wasn't a fan. So I tried again and didn't like it. The other night i was laying in bed and said "alright I'm gonna try again" To Pimp A Butterfly is an incredible and genius album.
Jack Ward I listen to all kinds of music but I also love rap since I believe it's the perfect musical form for deep lyrical content. And then I see people abuse it to say the same irrelevant shit over and over again. It's one of the things that make me really sad about the rap biz.
Feefo gonna have this interview bumpin in the whip
Lmao comment of the day.
lmaooo
DEAD
JUST DIED HAHAHAHA
No Slave Name He said he liked the album, but didn't fuck with a few of the early songs.
He seems like a really cool person to be friends with
He could give advice and I guarantee he'd be fun to be around
I am completely Alps understanding of the fact that he truly himself may not be that within
mtv actually doing things with music. dope.
bitch
Did you know the M in mtv stands for MUSIC
@@lunchableskid4907 they stopped doing things with music eventually
I don't really listen to modern rappers but it something about Kendrick that drawn me to him and his music. He's ego free , seems friendly and is a individual. He can stand alone in his music. It's just something you know? I know he's a celebrity but he doesn't flash it. He still act like a normal human being. It's just something about him that I love
+King Kirin Backseat Freestyle was a play on his 16 yr old mindset.
And King Kunta was written from the perspective of the caterpillar, talented but using his influence for selfish motives, not to better his community. This is where most MCs stop. They get fame, and continue to brag about fame, all the while being pimped by the industry. He's a King, yes, but still enslaved like Kunta.
better example would have been: look out for detox, THat Part (Black Hippy) or Control
There are countless other rappers who are like that too if you just look beyond the radio
@@deandrecrawford5184 great thing about kendrick is that he has managed to do that in the mainstream
Kendrick voice might beat Morgan Freeman's
Smooth af, no homo
Kendricks voice smooth it calms me down
Haha true
I still remember the times when he was hated for his annoying voice. Or complaining about the wrong use of vocal effects on gkmc.
It blows Morgan Freeman’s out of the water... it’s very calming; and easy to listen to, but it’s also very flexible, and can be literally anything when it needs to
Kendrick Lamar is not overrated, he is certainly not a sell out nor did he get on his knees to get to where he is. Kendrick i a one in a trillion, he managed to get through the industry without selling out and without falling into temptation of greed, lust, and selfishness. I highly respect Kendrick Lamar because his verses are his actual thoughts and his state of mind. I respect him because he is a man of the Lord. He even made me realize that I need more faith and I feel incredible. Religion or not Kendrick Lamar knows right and wrong and he fights for whats right and he fights for what he believes in. He is a descendant of Tupac. Tupac died speaking the truth and that is why i highly respect Tupac. The same is being done with Kendrick. He even directly asked us, the fans, if something tragic happens, will we still believe in him? Kendrick is on another level than the average rapper that talks about money hoes and drugs. Kendrick speaks the truth and managed to pull it out amazingly. Kendrick is a disciple and he is spreading positivity to the streets, and that is the very reason why he is the number one MC of this era.
Yeah. Kendrick is a rapper thats actually good in this generation of rap, hip/hop music
+Swampy Wilkinson lol

Street's Disciple MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY! !!
Street's Disciple collaborating with Taylor Swift on that bullshit ass girl fight song was his biggest sell out move but hey it was a number one hit and it won a Grammy... other than that the boy has stayed on the straight and narrow

Definitely best album of 2015 the funk the Jazz definitely brought it back to the essence of black music i mean before hip hop niggas don't like it cause they don't know they're history this is definitly what you call grown folks music
The music choice made the record even more powerful because he used black music. Everyone complains that white people stole black music, but he took it back on this one. Also, he pulled from Legends; Dave Chapelle/Martin Lawrence, Wesley Snipes, Michael Jackson, James Brown, Fela Kuti, & Tupac Shakur. A1!
ADAJ3 I agree
Emotionality wise, Carrie and Lowell is better. Skill wise, too, but they're both def contenders.
T&Y all day (imo)!!! but boy has this year been something else. I swear if people say hip hop is dead one more time...
Harnoor Singh it's not that there dead it's they just have nigga Ears lol
I'm so attracted to him.. Everything about him is just honest and beautiful

Honest? Yea
When a rapper start lookin homeless you know they about to drop some fire
Well Kendrick looks homeless in 2019 so maybe he drops fire next year

Funny since he plays a homeless dude in Power

I'm not a huge fan of rap and hip-hop because I am more into deeper lyrics and it's hard to find that in modern music, but my friend introduced me to Kendrick earlier this year, and I was so mad at myself for not giving Kendrick a chance. I am so happy that I discovered him, he is a genius, and one of the greatest artist of this generation. I am now a huge fan, and I was blessed to see him live twice this year. If you are a Kendrick fan and have not seen him live, I highly recommend you do so, he is one of the greatest performers I have ever seen.
you should try Joey Bada$$ then
+Demtra Bush definitely
+Alex Rodriguez you should try Eminem. Em's lyrics are deep but he can also be scary or funny.
+Alex Rodriguez you should listen to Mick Jenkins then, you wont be dissapointed
+Alex Rodriguez Never be closed minded. A mind full of conclusions has no room for expansion. .
As wonderful as DAMN is, as well as Good Kid, Section80, To Pimp A Butterfly is likely to remain his masterpiece, and arguable Hip Hop's Masterpiece. Blessings and Prayers to him and everyone else in this comment section.
Heart ep +
True Section.80, good kid m.a.a.d city and to pimp a butterfly are golden
I feel like he can top it
I love his voice
Marisol Avelar lol right who doesn't
i agree.. he speaks truly calmy and warm :)
I wonder who Kendrick has ghostwritten for. I knew he wrote Dre's verses on Compton and The Recipe, but I wonder who else he has written for under the table.
Kanye
+Kenny Porter really? which song?
+1210Nique All Day
JD N1NJA It's not ghostwritting if you've been given a writer's credit.
+B-Mint1994 i know for a fact he worked with drake on that aliyah album he was gonna make.
When I first heard the title of the album, "To Pimp A Butterfly," I immediately thought about "To Kill A Mocking Bird." Either way, it's such a great concept--the frailty of a caterpillar vs the beautiful uncertainty of a butterfly: his music is a reflection of the social condition. Any artist that spends time creating a relationship with his album allows us to enter it with the same energy. It's not about making a hit song, it's about making body of work.
I mentioned that in my album review video, and it feels great to see Kendrick express exactly what he wanted to convey on his album.
"using my celebrity for good and not being pimped by the industry" wow i love kendrick
"Taking that negativity and being proud of it and making it to your own, cause then I am a king, no matter what you call me."
Truth 💯 #KingKendrick
If I'm generous at heart I don't need recognition. The way I'm rewarded, well, that's God's decision.
You can tell that Kendrick is a genuinely nice person, just by looking at his face. I mean that in a good way.
that‘s called halo-effect, isn‘t it?
You ain't gotta lie to kick it my nigga. You ain't gotta lie...you ain't gotta lie...you ain't gotta lie to kick it my nigga...you ain't gotta try so hard
My fav song on the album, it's a whole masterpiece
That song made me think hard about my life lol.
He's trying to say you don't have to try to be cool to have like popularity correct?
2Pac (feat. Richie Rich) - Lie 2 Kick It
Andre E he saying you don't have to lie or pretend to be something your not to chill with the homies
I love that, though he's a christian artist, Kendrick has the humility not to act as though he's without sin and doesn't put on a "holier than thou" facade, and that he makes music about the world and the people in it, rather than just more safe devotional songs marketed towards an audience pressured into feeling like bad christians for liking anything but a particular type of music, and that grows more fickle day by day. Kendrick's music is what good christian music should be, an analysis of the world an artist sees coloured by their belief in and relationship with God, rather than just another bland praise song. Rolling Stone called him the most influential rapper of our generation, and I'm not about to disagree with that.
Is he really just that? A "christian" making what "good christian music should be"?
Maybe he is on a spiritual path, doing work within and searching for knowledge.
Anyone else think that Kendrick should make a movie like eminem did with 8 Mile? That would be sooo sick
A good kid maad city short film is coming out soon, gonna be sick af
are u serious? how exiting !
@Whiterman
Blake Horne facts
Best part is they already have GKMC and TPAB which are essentially movies without the visuals haha
Kendrick: *disses rappers with ghostwriters*
Kendrick: "I'm not gonna say no names"
Drake: *sighs*
Can't believe this was five years ago, one of the greatest musical experiences I've had was listening to TPAB for the first time, the feeling was otherworldly.
Kendrick is very dope and relatable... Hope he stays humble & continues to put out great music man 👌

2 Pimp A Caterpillar = 2Pac ???
My mind is blown...
Don't Worry yup
Thats madd profound right?
maybe Kendrick was talking about Drake? he knew before all of us
I feel it in my soul that he directed that line to drake.
Dont know if Drake has a ghost writer or not. But her does have a video from Noggin when he was on Nickelodeon, and its a cribs type video and he shows his house and his rap books. You can find it on youtube. That was at least 6 years ago though if not longer
jivy96 ya I saw that video but even if he did write all those raps doesn't mean they were good but personally I think Drake writes most of his own bars
+Jefferson Alade oh noooooo i swore i wouldn't tell
I love kendrick Lamar
Has a very strong "John Lennon" spirit, speaking honestly without force, aware of his celebrity but uses it as an avenue to celebrate truth.
Very nice!
This is such truth
I agree but I think John Lennon’s ego was a lot larger than Kendricks
@@neelmoudgil4962 facts. shittier person too

Kendrick Lamar is one of the few rappers/lyricists of today that actually could have survived back in the 80s and 90s which were the golden age of REAL HIP HOP.....His style, lyrics, lyrically ability, flow, delivery are all on point....
He's so aloof. He puts heart into his words. Kendrick is a genuine soul.
hella refreshing to see an interviewer who actually listens/is so genuine. Beautiful.

Kendricks smile...just heart melting! Puts me in a good mood!😄😄
realest interview ever, feels like a genuine conversation and not just prying questions. Interesting questions asked and interesting answers provided back
I didn't know people were ok with ghost writers. i'm not at all. I remember being told diddy admitted to having a ghost writer, and I lost all lyrical respect for him and never took him seriously as an MC again. Hip-Hop is all about individuality and what you bring to a verse with your voice and POV. Using a ghost writer completely cuts that out and makes your lyrics insincere to me. I need to hear a unique voice and a unique perspective
Nico Ceja that is why hip-hop is unique from all genres, and why I love it. To a true fan the pen is the most important instrument.
Dh
Relevant then, relevant now.
to pimp a butterfly is one of my favorite albums ever made and i mostly listen to rock and "grunge" a lot but i love to write, especially poetry and i started listening to kendrick because of the way he tells stories in his music and i love him so damn much for using his talent to make music that is real and impacting. he's amazing.
❤️❤️❤️
He has such a beautiful timbre to his voice.
yes! good word!
Yooo he just shouted out DEHH. They be blowing up and shit atm! Really proud of those guys
I think the very fact that Kendrick is getting an interview to talk about his inspirations and meanings within his music is a testament to the fact that this dude is on another level. I don't see quality interviews with this type of dialogue for regular 'rappers.'
I'm so glad to see this dude get this type of credit. Kendrick has taken rap and hip hop to a place that hasn't been reached before. At least not to the masses. I'm into this culture, but I have to admit I didn't think it would be a rap album that blessed so many peeps with some serious, serious intellectual and spiritual thoughts and direction.
Watched all 4 parts so many times and still love it. One of my favourite Kendrick interviews.
Kendrick is such a genuine, positive, generous, and strong soul. I have so much respect for him, always. Wish him the best with all he does.
Kendrick is so humble.... makes you want to cry :')
I hear he's the next Tupac.
Could anyone live to such a legacy?
I honestly think Kendrick can
Tom The Fish Kendrick's got the edge on 2pac for me because the instrumentals are on another level
these two have amazing chemistry, great interview
I like to see that Kendrick doesn't rush and really contemplates the questions and gives quality well thought out answers. Good interview.
Deadendhiphop about to be big...
Dead end hip hop bout to hit 100k suscribers coz of this!!!
I’ve watched so many of his interviews,,,this one in particular,,,and his mind/understanding/concept/spirit. Motivates me on so many levels❤2024 and I still come back for a down to earth yet spiritual level
my love of Kendrick just keeps right on growing
My favorite part of the whole album is when he says "I remember you was conflicted"
Kendrick is so smart and a great role model
2Pac inspiring Kendrick is almost prophetic. 2Pac knew his purpose when he said that he wanted to spark a mind greater than his. And here we are... Well played to both of 'em.
This is a great interview. I love how the interviewer really vibes with Kendrick.
Kendrick Lamar Stay Real!! You are AMAZING!! you don't rap about shit like the most of them other rappers do,you rap about real life!!
Damn let kendrick elaborate you can't be stopping him mid sentence while he's dropping gems
Kendrick has put out 2 Classics!
Probably will be another one before 2020
So with that being said:
KENDRICK LAMAR, BEST RAPPER OF THE DECADE!!
Love Markman's interviews. You can tell he really listens and dissects songs/albums and goes in depth with it.
i wonder how dr. dre feels about the ghost-writing line? I don't think Dre has ever written a verse in his life
Kendrick wrote his verse for "The Recipe" ironically.
Don't think dre cares, everybody knows, everybody. They can't take away his ability to put together albums though lol
Thing is about Dre, he never claimed to be the best rapper. He's always said his talent is in his producing and beat making. Originally I don't think he even wanted to rap (I could be wrong on that but I've heard it somewhere) so I would imagine he doesn't mind as he never hid the fact he doesn't write
I think that's why kendrick mentioned it for the new ones not the ones who are already established
I wouldn't say he never wrote a verse in his life, I'm sure he's laid down a couple of his own at least. But for the most part he didn't.
We need more interviewers like this. This guy knows what he's talking about. props to him
Everyone: Kendrick, what are you up to today?
Kendrick: It gets a little deeper.
Kendrick Is One Of Musics best, He reminds me of Tupac, John Lennon, Bob Marley, Kurt Cobain, John Frusciante, Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury.
So Charismatic.
Thank You for The Music Kendrick.
Had me crying knowing he was fighting not to stutter
Here is KC with his new video "GRIND MODE". ua-cam.com/video/UKSjWnoz-lA/v-deo.html
Rob Makman, I really like your energy, I feel that you was the best one to interview Kendrick Lamar. I feel like you and him as a great connection (I think is due to the knowledge you have in the music/ rap industry). And I think it's way better to have a conversation with someone who feels that the person with who he is having a convesation with understand him. Hands up 🙌
Keep doing what you're doing. Be bless !
Kendrick is one of the few hiphop "artists" in the game that command respect. he on his own level whether u fuk wit it or not
DEHH made it bruh!!!!
i have to say, this is probably the most real and in-depth interview and kendrick's answers are deep. i'm glad he has the gift of music in him
This is so crazy! Congrats DEHH! Y'all got the eye of one of the biggest rappers in the world and you deserve it. Much success!
Kendrick Lamar will go down as a legend.
And I could use a Writer just to balance out my flows but I'll never share my thoughts this is all a nigga knows..
Kendrick shitted on Drake. Its all about Growth & his musics STILL the same.
Lol that shit funny ass fuck.
I literally have tears in my eyes. For a long time I felt this world was lost in the dark, no superman to come and save us, no superman to show us the light. Then Kendrick came, and now I feel true hope, we found truth, we found the light, we found Superman.
In 50 years time we'll look back at this interview the same way we look back at the interviews the Beatles did after Sgt Pepper. Kendrick is a genius and TPAB is a masterpiece.
I love this guy
Kendrick Lamar is the very essence of an old soul. His lyrical content is just amazing. He is to dope for words cant sum him up in the one sentence. l love me some him.
Caught Kendrick last night for the 2nd time - humbled that I've been able to witness the greatest lyricist of our generation. Innocent just said it best, genuineness, greatness and charisma. Actually sent shivers down my spine halfway through the performance when I realised that I was in the presence of raw, unadulterated GREATNESS!
