I totally get what you mean by it being a gift. I never had cancer but I was seriously ill earlier this year and diagnosed with an auto-immune disease. It does put things in perspective, when you are bound to a hospital bed having tubes stuck in your body not knowing when you can leave you realize how much freedom you have with a normally functioning body. As long as you have your health you almost have nothing else to worry about. I'd rather be homeless and alone than being bedridden in terrible pain and shitting your pants with bloody diarrhea 30+ times a day.

now I am concerned with cancer coming back more aggressive since the chemo did so much damage, and in the process of repair, which cells are going to rebuild? the cancer cells might come in and try to do that job.

in a few years once you truly recover, I will believe this worked very well. though nice for the positive thoughts as you can get them along the way. don't want to take anything away from your recovery.
