When tens of thousands of people try to sing an instrumental, you have something special.
How many times have you heard a crowd singing an INSTRUMENTAL?
Welcome to the rush family, 40 year of great music and some of the greatest lyrics of all time written by drummer Neil peart who sadly passed away January 2020 from brain cancer.
YYZ is the airport code for Toronto's Pearson international. The opening is repeating Morse code for YYZ. Great reaction.
Just to add, it is YY ZED. Only Americans pronounce it Zee.
They keep up this pace for 3 hours, these guys are consummate players
Yes, those are washing machines. Geddy stopped using his own amps years ago so the stage was unbalanced with Alex's amps on the other side. During the show stage hands come and get shirts out and throw them to the crowd.
The dryers are operated with Canadian quarters only, and periodically throughout the show, you may have noticed technicians, roadies, celebrities, or fabulous babes coming out to add more quarters to keep the dryers running.
Also, according to Rush's official website, the band just likes that "Clean clean sound. That dry, yet warm sound."
Rush fans don't need no stinkin' lyrics! We sing the instruments! Although I'm from Brazil, I saw this tour in Virginia at the time, unfortunately. Crowd felt dead compared to this (no crowd like a South American crowd).
Yes, this footage is from an outdoor venue --I have this DVD (yeah, I'm old), it is epic. The band was amazed at the crazy singing of instrumentals in Latin American stadiums (I think until that time they used to play only smaller arenas, by choice). That was a lot of drums and Neil Peart used to hit all of them. There was a thing that he hit that would spin the whole drumset around so he could use the parts behind him.
It blows my mind every time when I see rock fans older than me that don’t know Rush.
But it’s fun to see their exposure to it
Fun reaction
Nice reaction. Welcome to the wonderful world of Rush!!!
This is a Song about coming home To Toronto. Call sign YYZ
More Rush! Check Working Man Live in Cleveland
This was their first time in Brazil. Some 60,000+ fans, no opening act just 3hrs of Rush greatness at a soccer stadium.
You have so much to learn young ones.
Right? I’m 23 and I’m like “How can anyone not know this shit?” Lmao
@@ZoeyPaigeLunaPhD Idk if you realize how much music there is out there, everyone grows up different
@@Johnytomm you’re right, you don’t 😎
Welcome to Rush. Three master musicians from Canada 🇨🇦
Check out Working Man live in Cleveland
Where's my thing/Here it is live in Dallas
One Little Victory live in Rio
Cheers
Rush was something special. No gimmicks just pure talent. Neil Peart (RIP) is considered to be one of the best drummers in history. Geddy Lee is also considered one of the best bassists in history. This is one of those bands that comes along in decades where it is a perfect storm of talent and musicianship. Very similar to bands like Jinjer today.
3 Canadian lads flexing their muscles
Rush the greatest 3 piece rock band in history, no contest.
Please watch Deep Purple Child in Time live 1970…epic recording
Pretty sure you've heard at least a few of their songs, even if you don't know the titles. I mean they have the most consecutive gold and platinum albums of any band except for The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
I was there. Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro, 2002. Amazing night. Almost 3 hours of concert.
HIGH from CANADA,, love the RUSH!!!
one of the best showcases of Getty Lee's Bass skills.
Iconic performance!! Hype song 🙂. The bands name is RUSH!!
You's both couldn't have looked less interested. And when you said I've heard this before.. uh uh, you'd know YYZ as soon as it started. There seems to be a lot of channels seeing what other channels are reacting to and jumping on those certain bandwagons to get the subscribers up when they know there are loyal/cult fans that will likely view a certain band's (Rush) type of video. Try and look a bit more genuine the next time, and people may buy into it 👍
Rush is 🇨🇦🔥. You also might enjoy Limelight or Spirit of Radio.
RIP Neil "Professor" Peart
Check out Where’s my Thing (Here it is). It’s another awesome live instrumental from Rush
I like the one from Dallas.
This is like me and my wife. Me: Yeah great!, My wife: Where are the lyrics? Yeah, it was quite ok. 🤣🤣🤣
We Brazilians are undoubtedly the biggest audiences in the world
I was there.( At Maracanã, the biggest Arena of "só ver" as you say, for more than 200.000 people! No , this day was "Only" 80.000 people ...)I do NOT understand where was the Americans when the WHOLE World was Rush fans ...
You should consider reacting to Rush performing "Spirit Of Radio" live in Toronto in 2003 in front of 500,000 fans on a sunny August afternoon! It is an AMAZING live performance and I can almost guarantee you've heard the song before.
"Spirit of radio" live "Red barchetta" live or "limelight" live.
All great songs, I think they those songs in Rio as well.... 🤘🏼
And he sings on those songs.... 😎
Lol @ chels admitting halfway through you've both heard it! ;)
And the drum kit rotates and unlike some other drummers, the Professor definitely utilizes the full kit. Depending on which night, there were 40k to 60k people in attendance. This entire concert is the S***, but if you want another great song from this concert to react to, I'd suggest One Little Victory. What makes this song particularly great in this particular video is that this was the first tour in over 5 years for the band. The drummer, Neil, had lost his daughter in a car accident, and within a year, he also lost his wife to breast cancer. The band was basically done. After a few years, they say down and decided to try something again and it was no easy task for any of them. You can imagine what it must feel like to put away your instrument for 3 years and then go back. That song is about their journey back to it. Of courae, lyrics are compliments of the Professor himself, as he wrote almost all lyrics for Rush minus the first album of course.
"That's a lot of drums." :-)
"Are those washing machines?" I'm dying here. :-)
Y'all need to check out their song "Working Man Time Machine Tour live in Cleveland".
I'll make a suggestion for a reaction video so you can see The Professor (RIP Neil) doing what he does best, Neil's drum solo in Frankfurt
There are very few Rush non- 'hype songs'. All of them are high intensity. Simply amazing band.
it's Rush, they almost only have are Hype songs there is a tiny handful that fall outside that umbrella but only a tiny handful
RIP neil peart
Consummate showmen.
Back when the wii was around, I bought all the instruments for Rockband and bought all the RUSH songs including this one. I only could play the drums while my son and his friends played guitar. keyboards and vocals. No way could I even come close to Neal "The Professor" Peart (RIP), just enjoyed jamming to their songs! I remember a video showing RUSH trying to play Tom Sawyer on a game system and had a hard time and their comments were real funny ua-cam.com/video/78KWIRpjKwU/v-deo.html . Been a RUSH fan since 1980 and been to quite a many concerts. Please keep checking out their stuff, Neal wrote some pretty deep lyrics to their songs and they could really slay the instruments.
When's zabali ebalo coming guys. You won't be disappointed at all. ❤️❤️🔥🔥
Don’t even know if this is an instrumental, nice prep!
Rush a few instrumentals that are highly loved by their fans. YYZ and La Villa Strangiato are the two most popular. LVS has one Alex's best lead guitars ever.
Three most important things 1. Drums totally surround him, 2. Washing machines(actually they’re dryers) and 3. The crowd sings along to an instrumental. Sorry babe that forfeits your 8 and adjusts automatically to a 10. Lol🤘🖖✌️🥁🎸🎹🎤
Just.
Three.
Guys.
Check out Rush Working Man - Live in Cleveland
Open air concert ,rained all day before concert. No sound check !!!!
Good to see you're doing well since getting Tommy Carcetti elected Mayor of Baltimore in The Wire. 👍

Dryers
What first time Rush?????
I've been a Rush fan 35+ years-Love this jam, but I'm totally distracted by the supremely hot woman listening here. Good God ya'all !
Brasil: É FODA!!! (in portuguese and in inglish!!!);
The band wasnt sure if they would draw interest if they went to South America their initial thoughts of it.
Well....
You have a long journey with Rush. The guitarist Alex Lifeson, bassist Geddy Lee both top 5 in the world then Percussionist Neil Peart " the Professor " is the greatest percussionist is the greatest of all time. Do the research.
Sad you guys dont know Rush...
Rush in Rio is the best Rush concert in history. Rush fans hate Rio because the majority are soft core and prefer weaker songs like Xanadu.
You might know this one?
8/10?
How can you poor deprived people NOT know RUSH 😮😮😮😮 ??? RUSH is the best ever and this killer instrumental piece is not even their best instrumental. The venue was a soccer stadium and on that night they played to 40,000 people. 🎶🎸🥁🎸🎶🔥🙂
As much as I am a Rush fan, I would like to see Band Maid have the same following.

Looks like the girl has a hard time processing the genius of this song. I think it’s a generational thing, being deprived from music that is actually playing on instruments in a logical sequence. No offense.
This an awesome song live , your reaction to it is not so good !
minus 1000 points for mentioning that shitfest of a film.......
Hey, I didn't say that movie was for everyone.😆
