Not being a fan of reds, When I decided to add a Pelikan to my collection I went for a M800 black/blue. Loved it so much I picked up the 2019 M805 Blue Dunes edition. Both are with fine nibs. I asked the UK vendor when he fine tuned the BD to select a slightly broader fine nib and he did an excellent job. Pelikan pens are beautiful writers but be careful not to get one that writes like a fire house unless that is what you want. The 800 and 1000 series have brass filling mechanisms and offer a slightly heavier feel which I appreciate.
@@MysteryArts Here is a quote from penchalet at the end of the pens description, "The Pelikan Souveran is also available as a ballpoint, and Pelikan also created a matching ink, Pelikan Edelstein Mandarin fountain pen ink."
Beautiful pen Mystery! I’m very much enjoying mine also with a F nib... have it inked with Mont Blanc Corn Poppy Red which is my all-time favorite red.
Hi, i just love the way you present all that info, love Pelikan and did bought the red tortoise as well ..and since i'm a french 🇨🇦 i pretty say "tortoise" like you you point out 😅!! Adore your ink swatch little cahier! One channel i am glad to have stumble upon💚
gorgeous pen. the m600/m605 size is my favorite Pelikan size. I wasn't drawn to the red version, mostly because it seems so warm, but it's much prettier "in person" than in the marketing photos. nice addition to your collection!
I finally received my PelikanM600 Tortioseshell Red this week and I am in love with it. By far Pelikan is my favorite brand and pens. I still have more to explore but Pelikans will always have a place in my collection. Also I received mine with the bigger lift box but I did receive my previous Pelikan M400 in that smaller box. 🤔 Not sure why the different boxes.
Congrats, thats a beauty for sure 🙂 I had one bad Pelikan experience years ago and let it put me off, however I have to urge to buy again and give them another go. 👍🏻
I absolutely love that pen! That’s the one I’ve been sighing over, so gorgeous. My little baby M200 came in that exact box, maybe they changed their presentation? Thank you so much for showing us that beautiful pen and happy writing!
Yeah, I guess I kind of have a gap there. Because the Iconic Blue has the same type of nib as an m200, I have sort of discounted the m200. I don't have a m101n either. If a special edition comes up that I really like, I might try to add those too.
Mine from Endless Pens came this same way. Not sure why. I got my M400 from them too and it came the same way too. That was a great discount wasn’t it? I love it!
Have you checked out Cult Pens? They typically have the best prices on Pelikans. I'm loving my tortoise m600. It's been inked up since I received it. I purchased mine from Cult Pens and have had it at least a month now. Waiting on my m300 from The Nibsmith. After I receive that, I think my flock is complete other than maybe a special edition. I feel that the 1000 would be too large for my tiny hands. I'll have a 300, 400, three 600's and an 800. The gold nib from the 400's will fit 200's. The 600 is a different nib, larger than the 400. Enjoy your new peep! It is stunning and a joy to use. Take care!
Nice. I think I'm gonna order one of these pens. I loved your swatches pad. What pad are you using for that? I've never seen anything like that before.
It's made by Mnemosyne. You can find a variety of sizes at JetPens here: www.jetpens.com/Maruman-Mnemosyne-Notebooks/ct/765?sa=popularity&so=0&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsqmEBhDiARIsANV8H3bIwKr9p2YaedQHnU10ItETYv1isI0pCqXSwZoK9jVHoZb0DRJYJ5gaAlnEEALw_wcB
@@CamsCampbell oh, I see. I normally put a link to the setup for that, but I didn’t this time. It is a Taroko Shop Tomoe river notebook that I got on Etsy. It is a beautiful pen, so congratulations on your purchase. One thing concerns me about the pen, though: it does not have an ink window and the stripes are not transparent as in other Pelikans, which makes it impossible to check how much ink is left. Isn't that a disadvantage?
There is not an ink window, but I've been able to see how much ink I have left by putting the pen up to a bright light (you could use a small flashlight or bright lamp). Just don't hurt your eyes!
It’s mostly because the ones I have either never dry or they feather horribly. I did talk about this more in my latest video update of my Watership Down fountain pen project here: ua-cam.com/video/hvZlp_2v_cE/v-deo.html

Does the blue dune also have brass filling mechanism ? I also interested in blue dune !
I filled mine with Monteverde Fire Opal. I love your channel!
Just placed an order for an M600 Red/Tortoise with a fine nib. Love the color. Pelikan is also my fave brand, I also like Sailor pens.
Two great brands for sure. I hope you enjoy your m600 Red Tortoise!
@@MysteryArts Thank you. Great video, BTW.
Pelikan release a special ink for this pen, it's the Pelikan Edelstein Mandarin
Mandarin is an older ink isn't it? It might go well, but I'm not sure it was a special release for this pen--unless they've re-released it?
