That poop emoji notebook would be great to keep in the bathroom for my "Captain's Log"!
haha!
Randy Allaway What the helm, man?!
HA!!! I get it. "Log"
Funny.
I really appreciate the videos you post about quick projects we can do to sell. Please keep this content coming. I am a new woodworker and I learn a lot from watching your channel.
I like how these turned out. So simple with the construction paper, but it really sets them apart.
I would want a 513 Ohio notebook. I am a Cincy transplant living in the 419. Great Project, hope to get to the show when i get back from Louisiana.
Great stuff Sir. Especially using the "scraps". I agree with Jimmy when I see walnut now I think Picciuto.
Thanks!
Genius idea using the waste/cut-outs for additional projects/products!
I like this. I always carry a Hillman Weathermax All-Weather Notepad in my back pocket. I have been entertaining the idea of making a leather cover for them to protect the spring and keep it from turning sideways in my pocket. If I can find the paper I may just try binding it without a spring which gets crushed.
This is so awesome. I live about 40mins away from Toledo and love this video and channel.
Very cool design David... I use one of these every day for work.
Dave, Thanks for bringing us along getting ready for this show really informational and inspirational. I have been taking the info and using it for my projects and shows I am getting ready for.
I know I am at least a year late, are amazing ideas! Glad to know your in Ohio too, I am in Columbus and try to get my shop together now. Keep the great videos coming!
Ha ha, it figures if the Drunken Woodworker escaped from the warehouse by the river where he was being held, Chuck would show up too. Great to have the both of you back!
Nice video, turned out nice, shows me i really need a laser cuter in my future. Possibilities are endless.
Congratulations James.
Another great video. Thanks for including pricing tips.
Would love to see an unboxing/project video of the GlowForge when you get it. Good luck at the show!
These are so cool. I love the shadow effect the plywood creates. Also really digging all of your laser videos, seems that new toy has really sparked some creativity.
Really nice project. I think I am going to make something like this for my partner for XMAS. Thanks!
I don't have a laser but this is still a great idea. I do make signs but never thought about making notebook covers. Love the idea.
I do craft shows as well, you're advice is always right on. I have two coming up in December and am getting applications together now for the spring. I only do juried shows but this spring I will be taking a huge jump into the larger shows, I have been told that I am holding myself back by not going after the larger shows, hopefully the risk is worth the reward as a booth space runs right over 1k for a 10x10.. Thanks for making videos, you're awesome.
Thank you!! Good luck with those big ones! I have not done a 1k show yet!
This is a really cool idea! I wish I had the tools to do these myself!
Brilliant idea, well presented.
Well done! If only I had a laser cutter. Either way, it's good to know that you can sell woodworking projects at this low price point and still make money. I'd love to visit one of your booths...one of these days. Keep it up!
I did not know local libraries have this stuff! Googled. Mine does not but it does have a maker space. And I found one not too far from me with a laser cutter
Love watching the cnc laser videos.
Awesome project. I've been itching to get a laser cutter. Can't afford an epilogue yet and thinking about trying out one of the cheap eBay 40w laser cutters. Thanks for this vid!
I liked the burmarks on the fronts, i think it also gave a little touch of highlight.
Good luck this Saturday!!
I'm having a craft fair on Saturday too!!👍🏻
CONGRATS JAMES
Such a great craft project. Love it! makes me want a laser cutter SO BAD!
Maybe run the paper through the printer before the laser next time to add some details like your website and UA-cam channel?
Great idea!
Hey David, not sure if anyone else has suggested this, rather than going through the trouble of shooting the notepad cover with rulers, try scanning it. It's already 1:1 and if it's off a little bit you can scale it in illustrator.
Thanks, Keep Making
Kris
Thanks! I don't have a scanner anymore.
Sorry David! Found it very handy when making custom tool holders for my saws, scanned the handle and carved away.
Very smart and cool stuff you did there!
Great video david! On a side note, I listen to you podcast and love it but I miss the epic HOW ARE YOU DOING! . Bring it back dave!
Awesome. I have made something like this. I used my scroll saw to make them.
Pretty cool, fellow buckeye!! the little Ohio pads are awesome!
Very nice project David, I'll try to make one. It's nice see you drinking beer too. :)
and nice great lakes bottle there!
Absolutely love this project!
Good work David!
I'm looking forward to hearing about your craft show! I subscribed to your second channel to make sure I don't miss it. Please have video or a picture of your booth! I would love to see it!
Such an awesome video! Those came out looking great.
Videos like this cost me money! I want a laser cutter now! Thanks :D
Very nice Dave!
Really great idea and I love the Ohio pride. I'm a 614 guy, myself.
Makes me want a laser so bad. Good luck at your craft show bro.
you have cooler library's than we do over here in the UK. No laser cutters here. Will have a look if I can rent one though.
Look for a maker space in your area!
Such nice projects!
Gratz to James!
You always have the best attitude and comments! Thanks Willem for all your support!
Did you use a different-than-usual technique for the sped up footage? There was an almost stop-motion look to it, in an artistically pleasant way.
Great Video Super Dave! Gave me some Fantastic Ideas! Have A Super Week!..... Gus
Try medium tack transfer tape. Makes the cleanup much faster if you want to use tape.
+Jay Selway I'll look for some. Thanks!
Great idea!
great project.
cool! im going to call the library in the morning! i hope they have 1 that would be sweet!!!! there gonna get pissed when i bring my sander up there lol
personally I'd add some clear resin to hold the orphaned pieces better and keep them from being caught or ripped out by whatever other objects they might rub against when transported in bags.
finally brought the beer back. YES!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent. Being a nerd, this is right up my alley! Thanks, David. Keep up the great work! How would this work with leather instead of wood?
If you could bring the machine that would be a nice upsell to customize notebooks on the spot. Also might draw people in to see your wares, just keep yelling "hot laser action" to reel them in!
Great idea David! looking forward to seeing you again, Dec 3rd
Yes! Good times ahead! It'll be fun to hang out again!
Make Something I feel like I know you better this time. Might not be as awkward. Looking forward to some baseball talk.
great idea
Love the Ohio one!! Put them on your site
chuck is back!!!
brilliant once again
lasers are cool
teenager: "I got this cool poop emoji notebook at a stupid crap fair"....Nice work!
Great stuff! I feel like construction paper is a little flimsy, though. Maybe a layer of contact paper to beef it up?
These are hella cool!
Dangit Chuck....
could you do a step-by-step in the inkscape process
Really cool!
Good to see Chuck still kicking around. I thought y'all had a falling out.
We're working out our issues.
thank you!!! love you're channal. keep up the great work
Which cutting machine is that, it is incredible!
Thanks for all the cool videos. Can you provide info on the laser cutter you used. The link you provided in the description is broken. Thanks.
Greetings, Clever Bugger. Well Done. Thanks..... pax
yes
Good stuff. Thanks for the heads up about the laser cutter at the Toledo Library. I didn't know they had one but will be taking advantage of it in the near future. Where is the craft show happening? I'd like to check it out.
+Eric Burres it's happening this Saturday on Adams St. it's put on by Handmade Toledo and called Makers Mart
Were you at Makers Mart? bummed i missed it.
Question how big of a piece of plywood can you fit in there at one time? length x width? Also how did these sale at your booth?
Hello new to the laser scene- what settings do you use for the paper? Great videos
Is that a paper cutter, you are using to cut with?
This is looks so cool! And love the font and shape of OH in 419!
Quick question: how does the walnut pieces looks so matte? I like the way they are w/o the lacquer and all.
You could use a wood burning tool and burn a graphic in too
Can you put a new link for the laser engraver? The link provided doesnt work
Did the laser engraver have to assembled or did it come pre assembled?
The poo notebook is my favorite.
How rude... it's the Ohio map ;p
lol... bastard ;P
Would love the file for the larger notebook cover. I did not see it on your site. Thanks!
That's because you'd need to use the exact same notebook paper I'm using so it would fit. Unfortunately I'm unable to find these notebooks for sale anywhere online.
I was just asking because I was able to find a handful of these at my local Michaels store. I would gladly pay for your plan :)
Send me an email and I'll mail you the PDF!
What kind of laser cutter do you use?
What a great idea. Looking to do this once the Glowforge arrives (next month? fingers crossed).
Did you see the last 20 seconds?
Oh yes, thanks much David!!
I love this video!!! Im going make some for my next craft show. I dont have laser printer. For the scroll saw, I have to used photoshop, can I do the exact same thing that you did in Illustrater for the template? For the paper, what do you suggest, no laser printer? X-acto knife or hole punch? Thanks!
What brand/model Laser cutter are you using? Do you recommend it?
its been long enough, you get this now.................. GO CUBS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
dude.
Make Something I'm sorry, I'm a Chicagoan what can I say?
could this be cut with a cnc machine?
What did you use for the back? 🤓👍🏼
What laser machine did you use.
is it the 14" version?
How much is that laser cutter?
Bellissimi!
what is the name of this wood sheet??
again you bring great inspiration! cheers!
Thank you!
