Another interesting and enlightening video, I learn something new with each one you produce. I'm really looking forward to the next one, especially as it covers brazing, something I want to get into. 👍
I'm sure that you know this by now, but there may be some that don't, so I'm sharing it here. If you buy a C2X now, the front axle comes upgraded with their aluminum truss/upper link mount/ panhard mount, all one piece. It's part number is Z-S2018. It strengthens the axle body, as well as all of the pieces that tie into it. Solid upgrade for the money.
I did some cross referencing of part compatibility awhile back and found that this c2x axle is the same innards as the stock scx10 axle, as well as any parts by SSD will fit this axle since they're virtually the same axle but rebranded. helps save cost on certain parts since RC4WD loves to charge premium for everything
Throttle, whether 'feathered or pounded', eihter way, throttle is good, like that, a nice bit of throttle on the old crawler, so thanks for reminding - furthermore: nice update, C2X = cool rig, and how about a paint job upgrade 💪 piano black and shimmering gold JPS style, with driver and navigator figures, Burt Reynolds look, any input from fellow subscribers, yes please: thanks for filming!
Thank you so much for this series, Im following along the best my budget can allow. So it looks like you don't need the aluminum c-hubs to mount the new knuckles, thats really good info, I can't wait to see whats next!
i would totally like to see a side by side video of standard gearing vs overdrive. i havent gone overdrive front in my scx10.2, so getting an actual visual of the difference might help persuade me to do it sooner than later.
I didn’t like the straight cut gears from RC4WD so I went with axial HD bevel cut over drive gears in the front of my C2x and the 43t underdrive gears in the rear axle drives much better
Happy.....what? Won't be no "bashing" with this trail truck son. At least I wouldn't with mine. Some tastfull detail work inside and some better wheels and tires. Just my opinion and thoughts my own C2X...
You should try some Snowballs. They are poly style pivot balls(similar to 1:1) that keep the suspension snug, more predicatable, and more planted. They also dont wear on the rod ends like plastic and metal pivot balls, as well as allow a smidge of dampening on impacts and rough driving. I havent rebuilt my suspension in over 2 years.
I really like this truck, I have added this to a long list of trucks i want to get hehe. Looking forward to seeing the running video with the upgrades!!
I would seriously look at building a truss that intergrades the pan hard mount. That plastic tab on top of the axle is very prone to breakage, and will end the day in a hurry.
Always entertaining. Thank you. Really coming along nicely. Just curious why you'd overdrive the front(2.70)over underdriving the rear(3.30)? The stock 3.0 gearing , right? Adding 2.70s to the front could cause torque-twist. Your other mods are spot-on.
I’m not so worried about torque twist. Out curiosity, if you’re running the rear axle at a lower than stock underdrive, how would that not create exactly the same problem? I’m not an engineer, so really asking!
@@scalebuildersguild I'm not an engineer either. Just a long time hobbiest...but I know alot engineers. Hahaha Just my understanding is you'd want the torque going to the ground multiplied closest to the ground and not from the beginning which would be at transmission. This is why one sees a geared-down portals having little to no torque-twist(TRX4 and VP Portals as an example) where-as steep gearing at the transmission and freeway gears at the axle like an Ascender(2.70s I believe) has really bad torque-twist. We both know some of this can be somewhat dialed out through suspension tuning....but i'm talking everything being equal. Seen these things on the trail too. Just another thought...the rear is easier to disassemble and reassemble. That's a win-win. Hahaha
I was on the fence with this truck. However the more I watch what you are doing with it. the more I kinda want it! Awesome upgrade videos. Are you taking it to scale nationals?
I’d say changing out the diff covers I always found the stocks want to get hung up ..... Other than that think this is gonna be a good comp rig excited to see a test run
Hi, I bought the C2X too, it's my first crawler. What did you use to quickly remove the bodywork? I hate having to unscrew the 4 screws every time .. Thanks
Love the channel! Can you or have you done any Vaterra ascender upgrades/build? I have one of the first kits and it’s still stock!🤦♂️🤷🏻♂️☺️🤣🤣🤣👍🏻 Keep it up!!🤘🏻
Anybody know which beef patties those are? Just ordered my c2x and I'm trying to get all my parts together. Dont have the truck in front of me to check it.
yes, run it as a comparison in the spring. It would be good to see how the changes improved it. Is there a aftermarket metal axle housing available? Is swaping to a gcm LRT2 with the 11% overdrive too much overdrive for this rig with the overdrive gears? Or is it about CG since you lowered the motor height when you clocked it?
RC4WD makes a metal axle housing, but I don't have any interest in swapping the axle at this point. It's about CG, and OD now. Getting roughly the same OD.
Hello, I bought this truck about 3 weeks ago and bought the overdrive and metal knuckles, thank you for this video that showed me how to do it. how can I add weight in the front? I bought wheels that weight about 108 g each, but can we add other kind of weight ?
@@scalebuildersguild Thanks, by the way, the metal pan hard that I ordered at the same time I bought this truck and following your recommendations, is back ordered and has just broken after about three weeks, for now I will try to glue the two pieces until the B/O is lifted.
Love the videos. I have a question. I am getting into the hobby again and it is a crawler for me. I want to build a scale crawler with a forward mount motor. I am needing advice on as to which frame rails to go with. I did see that you recommended a scale transmission in a different video, I can not remember the brand, and I will be going with that. I also would like 20% overdrive. Do you personally have an online store I can buy from?
C2X uses a flat rail chassis, so other bumpers will not necessarily mount right up. You can always mount different axles, but again, geometry and mounting locations vary.
@@scalebuildersguild thank you for replying. I've been told by others that the low hanging pumpkins are an issue getting hung up on stuff, thats why I asked about axle swaps. As far as bumpers I could always design and print a mount. I was thinking of a scx10.3 but the c2x looks like it'd be better for me and to showcase my scale work I 3d print for my etsy shop. C2X is too beautiful to pass up.
@@scalebuildersguild I emailed rc4wd and their response was "This would work, you may have to use some different length links in some areas." Upon checking they are the same width, with the panhard and rear bracket I think it will work. But I'm still hesitant to buy as I am not yet 100% sure what other items to purchases or what modifications to do. I'm a little tight on budget and this is too risky for me at this point.
VS4-10 Pro all day, everyday. Yes, it's substantially more expensive and doesn't come RTR, but it's worth every penny. It's what I'll be using for C2 this year.
Hey man. Im thinking about getting this rig. Im not new to the crawler scene but i am new to comps. I found a close ish hobby shop that does comps and im getting into it. I have 9 rigs, mostly enduro and scx10ii lol. But i dont have anything really comp like. They are all upgraded with great parts but not really comp style. My question is, could i just put ar44s on this? A lot more options for the axles plus i have two new kits laying around at home.
You could, for sure, but I wouldn't recommend this platform for a true comp. I had to modify it substantially to get it even close to competitive. I did a few more videos on it. Watch those, then decide.
@@scalebuildersguild I watched the whole series. I'm really just trying to talk myself into buying an rc4wd but I just don't see a performance aspect from any of their vehicles to be honest lol. I see weights attached to the rear axle. That's not comp legal. I also noticed your knuckles had holes to mount illegal weights as well. I'm pretty sick of all these comps with lazy rule following. You are not good when you win a comp that allows illegal mods. You are not promoting sport wellness by allowing illegal mods.
