You are facing challenges that most westerners have never even thought of and will never face themselves. Sadly, family values in the west are shot. You're doing the best you can. Honoring your late wife by keeping her family in the twin's life is important and is what's best for the twins. Ignore the criticism and don't feel obligated to explain how you're doing things. When all is said and done, it's your life and the twins are your kids. I think you're doing great! Thanks for sharing your life with us.

I remember the awfully hard times with only ONE non sleeping baby at 5 months let alone two. You are certainly not a coward. What a creep to say something so nasty. The cultural differences are huge too. You are doing well and you need to believe it. X
It's good that you have the family helping you out with the kids. My family (in the US) helped me out in raising my 4 kids by myself. I couldn't have done it without them. If people are calling you a coward they have absolutely no idea how difficult it is to raise children alone. Eff' those winkers
Who in their right mind would want to live in an isolated village with twins. You, the twins and the Thai family have all got the best of both worlds. I dont know any man that could look after twins fulltime. You do a great job. I think your amazing and courageous.

Yeah not fully sure how I feel long term. But in the longterm they'll be with me full time anyway and shouldn't be an issue I'd expect if the videos were even still going then

In the village you could live with the family for free. The girls will also be closer to their Thai family at all times, so you can more easily go off with your beautiful gf. Perhaps you could reconsider staying alone in the city?
No matter what you do, you're doing a great job. I'm 44, never had children and connot imagine ever becoming a father. Let alone fathering twins.

THEY ARE TOO YOUNG TO BE TOLD YOU HAVE TO HANG OUR WITH AUSSIE GRANDMA TO CATCH UP WITH YOU. THEY ARE OLDER BABIES DEPENDANT ON WHAT LIFE/ROUTINES HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED - AND DEPEND ON IT. YOUR MOTHER IS STILL GOING BACK TO OZ. SO ON ONE DAY PICK UP TWINS IN THE MORNING, STAY OVERNIGHT AND THE NEXT DAY TILL LATE NOON, THEN TAKING THEM BACK - DOING THIS TWICE A WEEK . LET MUM VISIT THE THAI FAMILY'S PLACE TO SEE THEM THE REST OF THE TIME.
I have been wanting to say this for ages. I am a retired social worker who has experience with early developmental needs and can recognise a great working situation and the harm disrupting it too much can do. Your mother is an adult and ought top be the one making accomodations, not the babies!!

It’s not easy to be a father period. Having twins is double the work. Doing it without a wife 4X harder. Glad to see you are progressing nicely and raising your children. Are you doing everything perfect? Probably not but no parent is perfect. Most important thing is your children are healthy and you doing your best to give them a happy life. Hopefully you can find someone who can serve as a surrogate nana for babies. Wages are not very high in Thailand and will help open up your time to earn income while getting help with your babies. My great respect to you. If I was in your shoes I would be scared raising those babies alone.

Brigitte L Jones. You understood the Thai family correctly. Your moving out turns out to have been a good decision. The shared care of the twins is perfect for you, the twins, Thai family and your relationship with the girl friend(for establishing a new relationship). While you'd manage sole care of the twins, it wouldn't be easy or pleasant. Actually a stupid thing when the Thai family want to and able to share the load. The greatest beneficiaries of this set up is the twins, by having a less stressed Dad part time, & him getting to know the girlfriend in this happier context, a non anxious Thai family having them enough & the twins even getting individual time with everyone. The situation is ideal for the twins as they have been made used to this set up from very early on.
I think you did everything right and you could not have stayed in the village or the house for your mental health. You need interaction with people and other interests and I can also imagine it holds a lot of sadness for the loss of your wife and also the loss of the life you envisioned together. I am thankful you have a lovely lady in your life and you are good for each other. I also think the girls have the best of both worlds, the family, the house and the village with their Moms upbringing and then you and your girlfriend and Mom and Dad and family in Australia. They will have a great upbringing between you all.
No Rick,no mistake made on your part,l lived in kaengkhro chaiyaphum full time for 3.5 years I decided to move to Chonburi for an short period.Main reasons for this are availability of western food and people who have some proficiency in english,both of which are very scarce in every part of isarn.Whilst chaiyaphum city has little tourist infrastructure it is supported by good availability of Thai western food as well as well stocked supermarkets.Whilst village life is great,long term it can be very debilitating....cheers mate
Yes Kaeng Khro isn't bad Rob but still much smaller than Chiayaphum City. Beautiful drive along the mountains to Kaeng Khro though

You are doing fantastic mate. You are doing the best by you and the girls. Raising kids is done by a village of people. Sometimes westerners dont get that. . It seems it’s better for your mental health to live in a bigger city. You do you.
Mentally it is significantly better. But still love getting down to that peaceful village too

Thai culture is a reall biggie, something a lot of Europeans dont understand. It is to be respected fully and not played with.

Ricky, you are doing nothing wrong! In fact I would say you are doing everything right so far.
It's so easy for keyboard experts to negatively comment or even criticise from their armchair perspective, but they are not in your unique situation.
Your girls brains are developing at speed, it will be difficult for you to keep up with their progression. You will just start to understand their crying patterns and then it will all change again. There is no one size fits all solution to this, you will adapt as they change over time.
I give you a 10 out of 10 for your decision making to date considering what you have had to deal with.
Your girls are learning how to gain responses, you are learning how to respond to their crying, a pattern develops. It's normal.
Keep up the good work, enjoy e ery moment.

Just a thought...why dont you talk with the landlord and write a longterm lease without a date. Just you both might have 3 month notice if you wanna move or the owner need it back. Less stress that way and you can feally make it your home ! I think the Thai family saw how you were strugfling after your wides passing and just consern you living alone with the twins was gonna be too much for you. They seem like very nice caring ppl. It takes time to get baxk on the feet... dont stress it. Do what makes you heal and feel good for now !

Besides these cheeky twins will have new developmental stages that at first will make your head spin, until you take a deep breathe and calm yourself in accepting that's typical toddler behaviour and deal with it like you did with Daisy. You have natural good parenting style.✨

You don't want to cross a Thai family. Blood is thicker than water. Co- parenting as Ricky is doing is the decision he has made for the well being of everybody so who are we to tell him what to do.
@@maxineb9598 It's not crossing the family the kids are his he is the parent. If he decides he wants them to live with him that is his right. In doing that he isn't saying the Thai family can't see the kids.
It takes time your giving yourself that time that's good to hear and it helps taking one at a time If you don't have a lot of experience with babies your getting it now and your teaching them English and the Thai family Thai I think it's wonderful you work with the your Thai family they love the girls too! 40 minutes is not too far to not be able to see the children regularly. I also think it's important to get away from the house you lived in with your deceased wife. The distance will do you a lot of good! I am very glad that you have met someone. You meet someone when you meet someone

You made the right decision mate. Chaiyaphum is a beautiful small city. There’s everything you need there…including giant Water Monitors 😂 Take the 24 months if you can secure a good fixed rent price. Then put the a/c unit in so you don’t have to worry about the next hot season. Looking forward to seeing your Mom return.

Do what’s best for you and your kids in your current situation. You’re young and on your own, none of your own family or friends around and you can’t communicate that well with Eid’s family yet. You need more life and adventure than what the village could offer to you. Things will get better as the twins get bigger and you learning to adapt. People love to judge, but nobody is in the exact same situation.
