One thing I appreciate about the set it and forget it style of filming is the way you get more candid footage, shots with only half a head or half a body, animals coming in and going out of the frame. To me, the walk by stuff feels very natural and interesting -but, of course, it always makes me want more :)
Wow - this was excellent! Thanks guys for all the work you put into this and for sharing your hard earned knowledge and experience. Blown away with the quality of the audio on the GP. The Moose vocalizations, for example, were amazing and really added another angle to the scene. Also loved the Dipper sequences.
I have a camera trap question😊 I have my hero 8 set up with the firmware and I’m playing with the app. Seems to be working but the back display stays on. Is that normal. I think I have it switched off in the app settings.
There should be an auto off setting in the preferences that should control that. I can’t remember what we used but the screens would shut off. Here’s a full list of explanation. Check the options section: gopro.github.io/labs/control/settings/

Yeah we're always trying to get natural looking footage and the animal always knows we're there when we are doing long lens stuff, even further away.
