its my dreamland in china I live in Shenzhen from 8 years ago and everyday I visit the market even I don't have any purchasing orders .its a electronics heaven man
I grew up in Shenzhen and I used to search for parts for my projects during my high school years. Now that I'm in US, and the costs for parts and shipping is really expensive and it requires days of shipping. I missed the good old days! That electronics market is really the heaven for the makers. If you have exciting projects to work on it is definitely recommended to stay in Shenzhen for a couple of months while building your gadgets. Plus, it would be an interesting experience to live in another culture.
I’ve never been there but it seems like all of my favorite components are made there. It seems like a magical place for those of us who love inventing new things. I’d love to go to Shenzhen someday.
You know your a geek when it strikes you mind that you just what to have a vacation there ... like screw sun and fanzy boat cruises, I what to go to Shenzhen!
Thank you for your kind words. In Shanghai there is an area near the intersection of Beijing Dong Lu and Fujian Lu which has floors of electronics. I often go there. Its well worth the visit. That area, along Beijing Lu, you will find lots of shops that sell both electronics and metal work related tools. Its very much a fun area for geeks! Finding Arduino/Raspberry pi modules though has traditionally been scarce there but things could have changed. Good luck with your visit.

I wonder how they are doing with the Corona virus ...
Its a great question. I presume the ban on gatherings, including in the workforce, means the markets are closed or operating on reduced staff?!
