    While back I bought another fuel tank for my CB650, I have since left it on the shelf for the past year. I bought with the hope of doing something similar, changing the whole color scheme of the bike with a couple parts.
    I finally got my bike on the road, its a 82 CB650SC running off a Mikuni VM34, been a pain to work on but I'm glad to be joining the riders table, and leaving the "basket cases" club lol

    In the UK the XS1100 came with both the larger tank and the smaller "custom" tank for the US style which was also available over here. we may not have needed the extra capacity but we just like the extra mileage we get before having to refuel...

      I know, I was so embarrassed when I watched it back. I already own two red bikes.

    Thanks Andy, I look forward to joining you too... how's the weather? It hasn't been very funny here in Scotland the last few weeks, my poor Triumph has been covered in salt for long enough, fortunately I applied ACF 50 in October/November, I had to ride through some snow last week, I'd have been faster walking. A couple of weeks ago the temp got above zero, enough to wash the bike and it washed up lovely so the ACF50 does its job, it's supposed to be above zero all next week so can give her a clean then, looking forward to it as I hate seeing the old girl in the state she's in.
    You've a good base to work from because the rest of the bike is pretty much black, I used to be a self employed artist, painting local landscapes, in choosing a frame colour, you would go to the centre of the painting, whatever that colour was, was the frame colour. At the end of the day, because you've a lot of black, any colour will be smart.
    The Ace cafe boys in the 60's just rode stock colour bikes, in the case of the Nortons, silver or black, Triumphs, blue, black or silver but whatever you choose will be smart.
    Ask the audience?

      G'day James, the weather here is beautiful at the moment. You blokes are hard core riding and putting up with the conditions up there.
      What ever colour I choose has to contrast with gold and black, as the rims, shock canisters, lever perches etc are gold. Maybe paint the tins black with gold accents?????????

      I used to have a Bandit 1200 mk1 and was part of the forum, those guys would add a bit of colour and the bike would look great, then all of a sudden all the accessories were that colour, looks horrid to me. Your bike is gold where it needs to be so I wouldn't say there was a theme with your bike, other than it's a cafe racer, its well balanced... I've looking at it though for a wee while, I feel it needs a deep rich colour, or a darker colour, it wouldn't look right in the lighter shades.
      Anyway, I look forward to your decision.

    Well. My suggestion of color scheme would be your providence flag or Tasmania flag? Color scheme?? In 🔥 flames?? Bright big metal flake speckled black ?? Some skull 💀 in flames highlights on metal flake black. Or whatever you like. Thanks

    Why do you wanna keep the old set ? Wouldn't have been cheaper to fix the tank and repaint ?
    By the way, I live in the wrong state by the looks of it...our posties are nowhere near as pretty as yours

    • @ANDY5
      @ANDY5  6 років тому +1

      Hey there Joe, good to hear from you.. Why do I want to keep the old set? Because I like it. So why not just fix it? I will but I also like the idea of being able to change the look of the bike. That and the fact that I can prepare the new frock and then swap it over with no down time on the bike. I can take my time prepping the new set and I can take my time repairing the old and keep on riding in between. Cheers mate, Andy
