      I feel you, friend. It's an important part of our personal growth trying to avoid getting immersed in the collective emotions of our societies in times of change. One way or another we are influenced by our own times and our own societies, and that makes it difficult to see past anything else. The perceived reality is often constructed by the space we grow up in.

    • @ArithHärger
      @ArithHärger  3 роки тому +9

      Thank you, I'm glad you think that. Indeed I have been trying to construct a body language on purpose so that those who are deaf or have any hearing problems might better accompany what I say by reading my lips, watching the body language and the subtitles as well. Lately UA-cam made a sad change on the subtitles and went from bad to worse, so I'm trying to develop a little bit more on the body language for anyone who might have difficulty in accompany what is being said. I know a bit of sign language, but not nearly enough, and each country has its own sign language so that complicates things because it's impossible for one single person to do all the gestures in different languages. So yeah, I try to create a body language that accompanies the content hehe.

    Thank you for this video. I was raised in the Southern Baptist church in the USA, but I left religion a long time ago. I always felt I was some kind of a rogue because I could not relate to Wicca either. Following someone else's prescribed way of doing things and in one certain way just never felt right. I had to observe, listen, and feel things for myself and create my own way. I found this is what actually works for me rather than following a prescribed "recipe" or formula that someone else created. Thank you! I always learn something valuable from your videos and usually feel validated in the way I think or feel.

    Arith do you think that religion, as a political power base was a concept used in Messopotamia thosands of years before the common era and adopted by the Hebrews then developed there percolating into Chritianity?

    • @ArithHärger
      @ArithHärger  3 роки тому +8

      Religion has always been a political tool, because from the moment the human being is able to perceive that he has any control over another by focusing on the vulnerability of another, the human being will use it for its own benefit. Vulnerability is often present in the form of fear of the unknown, or fear of what we don't understand, and if someone shows understanding, that someone offers some security, reassurance, which is why "knowledge" held by the ruling power was kept a secret to control the masses and create the illusion that the ruling power has the key to salvation and all the answers to everything. Yes, we see this in Sumer, Persia, all over the Hellenic world, Romans, etc. In Europe we see this a lore more noticible in the archaeological record from the neolithic onwards, especially (of course) during the process of sedentarization and the first vestiges of settlements. We start to see human beings progressively dividing their settlements into specific areas and the Elite on the top, clearly within the settlement but at the same time detached, on a high place controlling everything. We see the merging of spirituality with politics and the military power; the elite controls it all and the rest of the population obeys. Sadly, not much has changed, even though there's been countless figures trying to make a separation from religion and state. Religion is still being used as politics in many many ways, even in the most subtle ways and sometimes unknowingly because it's just deeply rooted in our modern societies the fear of the unknown and trying to act "in the right way" in order to survive this world and the next.

      @@ArithHärger I suppose that is how temples came into being as a tool to focus the power?

    • @ArithHärger
      @ArithHärger  3 роки тому +4

      @@colinp2238 Yes, the centralization of power. It follows the same "architecture" and "urban" planning of earlier primitive settlements. Centralizing the power on a specific "sacred" area and usually a high building on high relief, to be seen from afar in all directions. Until quite recently in Europe, as recent as the 18th century, monarchs were thought to rule because they had been ordained by god. So it takes a long long time for things to change, and as history shown us countless times, the elite only changes when forced to.

    Hi Arith,
    I think that there’s a misunderstanding about what it’s really Asatru.
    As you already know Asatru means Believing in Æsir.
    In Asatru there’s no dogma, no priests hierarchy, etc as many monotheistic religions have.
    Asatru is free of dogma, etc.
    Asatru is the same way as Forn Seidr.
    Asatru isn’t odinism with their false beliefs and their famous false 9 virtues. As you know the 9 fake virtues was invented by a certain McNallen and he invented odinism often linked with neo-nazis and white supremacy.
    Asatru is absolutely nothing to do with odinism and/or a new pagan way nor with new age movements.
    Asatru is a way of Forn Siðr who included all of Norse faith system including animistic of course, there’s no Asatru without animistic way as there is no Forn Siðr without animistic way, as you already know.
    NOTE : I think that it is important to mention here, some Asatru followers used these fake 9 virtues, but the large majority of Asatru followers don’t.
    If we really believe and want to be an Asatru (Forn Siðr) believer/follower we have to respect the freedom of each other, but we have to understand crystal clear dogmas, priests hierarchy, 9 fake virtues, etc have nothing to do with Asatru or a form of Forn Siðr if you prefer.
    Be well Arith and thank you for your very interesting videos and for sharing your valuable knowledge.
