- Today we are doing some much needed maintenance and upgrades on my wifes daily driver, her 1996 Toyota 4Runner. I discovered her wheel bearings where TOAST when replacing the tie rods!

I envy your ability to “Just get in to it” and work on the trucks whenever/however you want
Good call! And best of luck healing, man. Take care and no need to say sooorry
You would be surprised how easy it is to install bearings by freezing the bearing and heating up the spindle. I just did my rear axle bearings and I put my bearings in my freezer and used a heat gun to heat up my axle housing. I was able to push the bearings in by hand.
Tried this but didn't have any success 😕 had to use my press
Rear works great this way! I've done it lots. These fronts not so much
The rear is always a loose fit in the housing on a 3rd gen, and no amount of heat or freezing will help the retainers, ABS reluctor, or bearing slip on the rear axle shaft, just brut force. To bad you didn’t show how to press the bearing, inner and outer seal and snap ring. I’ll be doing this job at home soon, expensive OEM parts
Thanks for sharing ... everytime I see your vids .. I change my mind about selling 2000 3rd gen... 300k km and no issues...keep up the cool videos 😎
Thank you. You're an inspiration and a genuinely cool dude. Such a positive attitude takes remarkable strength. Take good care of yourself! I hope your thumb heals well.
Hope your thumb gets well soon!
Good catch! That wheel could’ve turned out poorly on the highway! Hope your thumb turns out better soon
Man... you gotta take it easy on that thumb Bro. Good video, thanks for sharing.
good job guys . Thumb's looking better than i expected it would be.
Yep that bearing was toast alrite, glad you caught it before it fell off , could have been ugly
Is that the New Frankenstein model thumb? 😂😂
Dude that thumb get well soon. Happy wife happy life. You would have been in the doghouse if that wheel would have exited.
HES SUCH A GOOD BOY
Great vid. Thanks for filming and sharing!
One time I had play similar to this but it was just my upper control arm bolt was slightly loose.
A Fenix appearance!
Excellent repair job video Bro! Stay safe and take it easy with that thumb.
❤❤❤
Wheel spacers are probably why the bearing went bad.
Nah. They are just probably original.
@@DirtGarage Mine made it to almost 400k and still had no play when I replaced them! 😂 Probably got lucky though.
@@DirtGarage How many miles are on this 4Runner?
@@michaelrueckert8507 500,000+ km. But the spindles I used from parts 4runner had just over 200,000km
@@DirtGarage Not a bad lifespan at all.
👊👍
