    1) things will always take longer than you expect, even you expect them to take longer
    2) 90/90 rule. The first 90% makes up 90% of the completion, the last 10% also makes up 90% of the completion
    3) can’t control time, but you can control how you spend your time.
    4) first step is always the hardest
    5) might be hard, easier if you’re mentally prepared.
    6) you can anything, but limit it and not everything is beneficial/good.

I've been a programmer for over a decade.
Every single project I've witnessed or participated in, took longer than we all had hoped. Every. Single. Project. Took too long.
In the murky field of software development, fresh horrors await.
If you've put a colon character : instead of a semi-colon ; in your code. Game Over. The computer has zero sympathy. You can not beg the Terminator. Judgment Day is inevitable, there is no other choice than to work only on the important things, that are within your control, and brace for impact.
There's an entire cottage industry built around this phenomena. I refer to it as the "Agile Industrial Complex" which is a runaway from a healthier approach described in the original 'Agile Manifesto'
The original signers of the Agile Manifesto, have lost control of this cottage industry. One of the signatories, Robert C. Martin says
"The only way to go fast, is to go well."
I'll admit, easier said than done. If an organization doesn't eventually achieve test-driven-development (TDD). They will eventually grind to a halt, no amount of new employees or new funding will keep the codebase from collapsing under its own weight.

It was hilarious what a complete mess was created when I (incompetently) added one extra bracket to the code (creating that algorithm with Java is a complete bracket jungle btw). The compiler would return with like 200 errors.
But after I removed the extra bracket - it worked flawlessly.

All I can say, from personal experience, is ... any home plumbing work (yes even a faucet washer) inevitably takes a full day to complete. You have a box of washers from previous projects that inexplicable does not happen to have the EXACT washer you need, A trip (or two or three) to get the correct washer will be needed. But, then, after replacing the leaking faucet washer (and you pat yourself on the back) you find that the shut-off you needed to turn off to fix the original leak now leaks ... and from theres, no saying when you'll be truly finished.
