I've never really experienced a period where my striker isnt scoring however the most infuriating thing is when you beat better teams then the next game get slapped up by the teams in the relegation zone
It has nothing to do with complacency but more to do with the actual tactic. When you play bigger teams like liverpool and Real Madrid, they are more than likely the favourites to beat you. So, what do they do? They attack you, leaving space more than likely in wide areas where full backs play. Now, when you play a Team and you are deemed the favourite against them, they will sit back to try and wait for an opening. You guys go attacking mentality, attacking full backs and wingers, what are you leaving? Space. They expose that space and hit you on the counter hence why you could be losing to teams that you are better than.
Joelinton needs a partner up top, like he did at Hoffenheim. Newcastle being so defensive doesn't help either. You can play 5-4-1 and just lump the ball to him and expect him to do something with no support
So my striker can't score... So my goalkeeper can't save at his near post... So my BWM instructed to play short passes channels his inner Paul Scholes... So the AI needs two highlights for two goals and I need between 4-8 for same... So the person that scored in the 92nd minute against me from 33 yrds has 8 long shots... So after losing my 76 game unbeaten run I then can't win in any of my next 5 games... For the love of the game

The other day FM literally made me cry. I was in the 2031/32 season playing with my way too OP Bayern Munich team. My striker, our supertalent, Joshua Zirkzee, who is the best player in the whole damn world, scored 30 goals after 20 games. When we went into winter break I was sure he'd finally break Gerd Müllers 60 year old Bundesliga Goal Record. He continued to conquer the Club World Cup, scoring like 15 goals in four games, or how much you play. After we came back from winter break for some reason he wasn't the same anymore. He didn't hit a freaking barn door from 5 metres away. In the end he scored 4 or 5 goals in the remaining 14 games. I tried everything, talking to him, letting him run CAM, since Mbappe (who's my CAM) made every goal when Zirkzee didn't hit, literally everything but nothing helped. Obviously it's still sick having a 1:1 game/goal ratio but c'mon...the Bombers Record has to fall! 😂
I audibly said what multiple times when you hovered over the position and it told you where he prefers to play in multiple-striker formations. That seems so useful!

OK, this would be really long, so bear with me. The background of my playstyle is necessary for the conclusion at the end ... Any suggestions and feedback would be sincerely appreciated ... Restarted playing FM when FM20 came out free. Indeed, my SCs mostly cannot score constantly, even now after 20+ seasons. First save was Arsenal, and was actually sacked at 9th place in the 1st season, because the FM game had changed so much the last time I'd played (like, FM06, where the play ratings still has no decimal during/after a match). Played 4-3-1-2, and flopped badly. That Adabayo fellow just cannot score, and i heard that he's great ... Second save was AC Milan, and didnt know the club was in bad shape financially. 2nd season's transfer budget was 3-4 mil only, how the mighty Milan has fallen ... Anyway, because of my first save's experience, resorted to 4-4-1-1 just to patch up holes in midfield. Interestingly, got 2nd in the 1st season, and never gotten below 2nd place throughout. Actually won the Champions League before the Serie A title. That's how strong the ZEBRAs was. For 10+ seasons, my 3* SCs (who admittedly are heavily rotated every other match) would had had a good season if one can score 15 goals in a (30-40 matches) season. Including penalties. Granted, I am a thrifty manager (like a certain Wenger), so i tend not to spend big. Never truly target a player, and mostly got 5*-s on the cheap when they hand in transfer requests elsewhere. Was trying out a free 5* AMC who has great stats for SCs, and put him as a Complete Forward in bright orange. He ended up becoming my 1st 20-goals/season "SC" ... And, i dont play FM like Zealand. Leave many things at the hands of the AI (at least after a proper setup i guess like getting the best staff, etc), and just concentrate on getting good players on the cheap, and then loaning them up till they became 4-5*s. Anyway, the free 5* AMC became 33yo, and I sold him off for profit. A German/Turkey 5* SC became available, and splashed a 87 or 90-something mil on him. Actually my 1st 5* SC ... And he scores and scores and scores most of the time (more on this later). As a Complete Forward in a 4-4-1-1 formation. The thing is, he has only 13 Finishing (Individual training didnt improve this for 8 seasons, ha). I like to train SCs to Move-into-Channels (Off-the-Ball-ing to open up spaces, I imagined) and Cut in from both Wings (again, I imagined as useful), and somehow many of my players can Dribble, so Run w/Ball Often too. But because of his Finishing, he is one of the few SCs who I DON'T configure his Finishing Player Trails. Interestingly, he loves to Blast the Ball for reasons unknown, even penalties. I repeat, he DOES NOT have this trail, but 50% of his goals are BLASTED IN. This 5* newgen SC made me realize a few things (about FM20 SC scoring at least) ... 1. A 5* SC, IS a 5* SC. The stars definitely still matter, and is how I buy players. I dont look at (some of) the stats like Determination, and I knew nothing about Player hidden Characteristics like how good a Model Citizen is (because I had forgotten about all these after so many years), and I get by just fine. Just from continuously buying better and better players through scout recommendations. For the record, the mentioned 5* SC is just a Professional. Also, most of my team are 3.5*/4* players. (I do have 20+ of such 3.5*/4*/4.5*/5* players though ...) 2. When a SC scores in a match, if you don't sub him out and let him play for 90 minutes, somehow he can score again in the next match, even if just a penalty. And next match, and next match ... until he gets too tired like
I am very happy for this video. Maybe you remember me from stream (sfryugoparty) and man. Thank you. I have great stats and ability on my strikers but you know the deal. Thanks for the video mate
Imagine a world where Joshua Zirkzee is the best striker in the premier league at age 22 and yet is 2 for 32 penalties over his 4 seasons. All his penalty attributes are above 15, he's nearly always confident. He just steps up, and then trips over the ball. It does my head in. But I'm stubborn and stick with him.
Just the video I need when my Haaland dropped to 3 Stars after his major injury and struggle to score regularly. UPDATE: So after using all the advice from this video. Haaland was back to 4 Stars by scoring 20 Goals & 3 Assists in 16(7) Apps with 7.53 AV R (Overall Club). Then he left the club to Liverpool for 45 Mil Euro. :BIG SAD FACE: His Stats for my Mainz team is insane as below: 2021/22 - 2026/27 (Overal Club) 147 Apps 123 Goal or Assist = 0.83 Goal involvement per Game at 26 😦 (Apps excludes Coming-of-the-Bench) I hope he will turn out like this IRL.
I just broke a player's no score streak (24 games) by giving him a penalty when we were 2-0 up in a cup game ( he doesn't normally take them). He then scored the only goal in the next league game. Time will tell if he keeps it up but I think it's a good way of breaking the drought.
Love it when my assistant told me to rest Maxi Gomez, so I interacted with the player and he got upset because he felt he doesn't need rest for the next match, I apologized then put him on my next match , only for him to score a hat trick.
Thanks Zealand. I've had this issue recently with Lautharo Martinez when I decided to play him alongside Greenwood. Will check it out. Appreciate you videos.
I had watched 2 minutes of this video, and then stopped because the match i was going to play finally loaded. In this match my striker scored 3 goal, even though he had 2 goal in this season. I didn't expect that your video would have such big impact on my scriker😂😂😂
Can't score, buy Mason Greenwood, shout "demand more", get a goal. Kind of joking but four matches in a row he scored within a minute or two (game time) of me demanding more.
excellent video, your content makes sure that everyone develops his understanding in FM keep up the good work !one question, did you change your font style ? the font is different on the attributes site and scouting page.
Love your videos, I feel like the opening sequence was a (sadly) accurate portrayal of my skill level. This is why I will never play a forward-based position. ** Notice I didn't say never play. Because I like to inflict my poor skills on others :D ** But you should do a video on the thing that I still, after all these years, do not understand in the game. Match Plans. How? Why?
Hey Zeeland, actually thought you were really annoying first time I saw your vids. But have to say that you’re really funny, great production and above all excellent tips! Keep up the great work dude 👍😎🍺
In my Monaco save I have a massive issue with Ben yedder all the attributes are all bang on but he’s scored 3 times in 20 games for me and two of them wear penos so defo take some of these trait tips into account nice one ze 🙏👌
I would ad one part to the tactics. Personal player instructions to shoot less often. Especially good for wingers and fullbacks and Central midfielders without good long shots.
I have this problem where my strikers start the season so hot there scoring like 2 goals or more a game but during the back end of the season they go like 10 games without scoring
It's common. The whole team has a tendency to under perform late in the season. Your players are probably tired and need some rest. Man managing and team meetings can help as well.
I''ve done all of this. yet my Josh Sargent with 16 finishing 16 composure 15 technique CONSTANTLY KICKS IT STRAIGHT AT THE KEEPer. I literally play a 2 striker system and still no goals, I will have matches where I hit the post 7 times its ridiculous I can't wait for FIFA and its jump in feature I am so fed up of watching my striker hit the keeper
It's funny hearing everyone talking about strikers not scoring, since my striker is exactly the opposite, all my scoring comes from him, every season he has more goals than appearances.
Another great video, amusing and informative. The beard is coming along great too. Could you do a video on what a good player is for each league level. I am a non league team and find it hard to judge what is a good player. Is 12 finishing okay, good, or excellent for a non league player? That would be great. Same for each position too, forwards midfielder and defenders? Thanks
man i took incharge of Real Madrid in FM19 when they just sold Cristiano and brought back Mariano, i signed Yussuf Yurary Poulsen because he is tall, quick, young and would bring a different element to my team but he just cant score. i spammed crosses which he won but never scored, never. it was literally the only thing i bought him for.
And also moves in channels and some good pyhsic combined with first time shot makes it even more effective when you understand all attributes and reaction and combination with each makes it much easier to understand how to shape players and even tactics
Haaland scored 13 goals in 37 matches in the first season for me in Barca, 30 in 40 the next. Then left for City for 120m. But I wanted him. Paid 160m to re sign him the following season. Now he's at 70 goals in 45 matches. Absloutely insane.

(I do have 20+ of such 3.5*/4*/4.5*/5* players though ...)
Sta vodis burazeru i kako ide 😁
Imagine a world where Joshua Zirkzee is the best striker in the premier league at age 22 and yet is 2 for 32 penalties over his 4 seasons. All his penalty attributes are above 15, he's nearly always confident. He just steps up, and then trips over the ball. It does my head in. But I'm stubborn and stick with him.
Penalties are broken, Ronaldo missed 6 in a row for me.
@@revenone1077 yea I've gathered, weird thing is though, Matt Ritchie, who by all means has very average stats, is deadly from the spot. Who knows
:BIG SAD FACE:
His Stats for my Mainz team is insane as below:
2021/22 - 2026/27 (Overal Club) 147 Apps 123 Goal or Assist = 0.83 Goal involvement per Game at 26 😦 (Apps excludes Coming-of-the-Bench)
I hope he will turn out like this IRL.
Ouch
I just broke a player's no score streak (24 games) by giving him a penalty when we were 2-0 up in a cup game ( he doesn't normally take them). He then scored the only goal in the next league game. Time will tell if he keeps it up but I think it's a good way of breaking the drought.
Impressive calfs Zealand 😅👍
damn man, you're the GOAT. best FM content on youtube
Love it when my assistant told me to rest Maxi Gomez, so I interacted with the player and he got upset because he felt he doesn't need rest for the next match, I apologized then put him on my next match , only for him to score a hat trick.
I watched this video and my striker went from 5 goals to 17 goals, then he wanted to leave and now he’s gone
Where did you find the Xerdan Shaqiri calf workout DVD’s?
Thanks Zealand. I've had this issue recently with Lautharo Martinez when I decided to play him alongside Greenwood. Will check it out. Appreciate you videos.
Great video man! PPMs and tactics in general can always use more clarity & explanation..
Mate your class. FM genius plus really funny! And also from the wrong side of the Atlantic 😂
John Brooks is, indeed, top teir
Now every time I see a player with the round the keeper trait, I'm going to hear the Garygasm in my head. Oooooooooohhhhhhhhh
My striker, shot on target in 1 season almost 119 times. The goal just 15.
Another awesome video. I need this so much for a couple of forwards 😁
excellent video, your content makes sure that everyone develops his understanding in FM keep up the good work !one question, did you change your font style ? the font is different on the attributes site and scouting page.
Rounding the keeper is the most redundant trait in FM. In the last 250 hours of FM20, I cant think of a one on one that I have had at all.
When i couldn't score even after 5 games our manager put me into centre midfield, not gonna lie it actually feels really stress free in CM .
Love your videos, I feel like the opening sequence was a (sadly) accurate portrayal of my skill level. This is why I will never play a forward-based position. ** Notice I didn't say never play. Because I like to inflict my poor skills on others :D **
But you should do a video on the thing that I still, after all these years, do not understand in the game.
Match Plans.
How? Why?
Hey Zeeland, actually thought you were really annoying first time I saw your vids. But have to say that you’re really funny, great production and above all excellent tips! Keep up the great work dude 👍😎🍺
I confess, I am in the same boat
LOL Love this video. Great advice I was wondering what to do about my goal shy strikers
Wow , you make Stuart Barlow ( Google it ) look good . So glad I found this channel . So helpful .
In my Monaco save I have a massive issue with Ben yedder all the attributes are all bang on but he’s scored 3 times in 20 games for me and two of them wear penos so defo take some of these trait tips into account nice one ze 🙏👌
Man I love that whiteboard😍
I'm about 8 months too late to this one but hey, thanks for the tips!
Also, Vitaliy "Chris Stewart" Semenyuk looks like a damn beast.
Nice intro dude , i think maybe 5 max agility
Idk how you have dislikes on your vids. They are awesome man😂😂
Great video as allways! Any tips for other positions, CAM for example?
anyone else get prime Kevin Davies vibes from the first 30 seconds
14 compusure is not great? it is good enough for lower leagues
10:06 49 apps 46 goals
valued at 1.5m
whenever my players are 1 on 1 with the keeper they just shoot it straight at the keeper and it has cost me so much
Exactly that's what it happens to me :(
It's funny hearing everyone talking about strikers not scoring, since my striker is exactly the opposite, all my scoring comes from him, every season he has more goals than appearances.
Thanks
Instructions are unclear. My 78 million value wonderkid is averaging 6.2 every match.
Another very useful video thank you
Im pretty sure decision is most important one after finishing when it comes to places shots
man i took incharge of Real Madrid in FM19 when they just sold Cristiano and brought back Mariano, i signed Yussuf Yurary Poulsen because he is tall, quick, young and would bring a different element to my team but he just cant score. i spammed crosses which he won but never scored, never. it was literally the only thing i bought him for.
And for the tries first timeshots other than finishing and technique, anticipation, teamwork, composure is very important as i know
And also moves in channels and some good pyhsic combined with first time shot makes it even more effective when you understand all attributes and reaction and combination with each makes it much easier to understand how to shape players and even tactics
Zealand you are a great actor bro!
Haaland scored 13 goals in 37 matches in the first season for me in Barca, 30 in 40 the next. Then left for City for 120m.
But I wanted him. Paid 160m to re sign him the following season. Now he's at 70 goals in 45 matches. Absloutely insane.
Leaving for city. That won’t happen
Levin looks like a quarantined Werner
