- The perfect holiday souvenirs for any sewing room...FABRIC and PATTERNS. In my sewing room today I show what I bought in Florida and there is quite a bit. I loved being able to see and feel fabric in person, something I don't often get to do where I live.

Carole, I really love your "BORING' green fabric! It's NOT boring at all. If I see it again at the Sewing Studio I will be picking it up! I also love your light green pastel jersey knit from Joann's. Great for a cardigan. You came home with some wonderful fabric. You MUST make Simplicity S1499 with the beautiful floral quilted fabric. If I find a nice quilted fabric, I'd like to make View A. Thanks Grace! That fabric just looked a bit 'safe' against all the others but I'm sure it will make a very useful ..something (not sure what yet!). I have just whipped up a cardigan from that green fabric and it is the softest thing I have, it's wonderful. I have just ordered a pattern for the quilted jacket but thanks for the recommendation, I hadn't seen that pattern but I must admit I need sleeves over here 🤣. I stare at the pink linen from Hobby Lobby every time I go into the store. I keep telling myself I have to pick out a pattern first, and then I’ll buy it. It’s just so beautiful and feels lovely.

There is something about linen in different colours isn't there? I made a lovely pair of bright pink linen trousers last year but sadly wasn't brave enough to wear them often 😂. I am hoping shorts will be better. Go on buy some too!! Have a great week and thanks for watching 🧵😊

You cannot beat just seeing the fabrics and feeling the quality can you but it has the downside of making you spend more! So glad you enjoyed your trip and got to see friends. Beautiful fabric. I have a lot of the same patterns you purchased. Butterick 6418 is a great top pattern. I have made 2 and loved them. New Look 6216 is also a favorite of mine. Love the pants, I have made 4 pair and have another one cut out. The top is nice also nice but I have only made it once. I have 3 copies of that pattern because I know I will wear them out and it is cheaper to purchase the pattern than trace one out.

YES!! Beyond the Pink Door has moved from Ireland to DORSET! How awesome is that? It is 25 mins from the Holiday home and 50 mins from us and it is on THE WAY 👏🏼. I cannot wait for her to open. Now you really need to book your tickets to England 🥰😂. PS I would be bankrupt if I got a job at BTPD and no time to sew 😂. Have a good week and hope you have your sewing room back now 😘💗😘

Thanks Ann. We all had a fabulous time and the boys were brilliant. They didn't fuss at all with all the endless walking around the parks and the late nights and to be honest, my Son's 8 month old baby was the real star, jet lag never affected her and so was so content! Now to get sewing! 🧵😊
Some great patterns and lovely fabrics Carole. I have made McCalls 8067 several times (the collarless version ) and find it a really useful summer blouse. I have also made both the tunic and dress version of Butterick 6494, the princess seams give it a lovely shape, which I prefer.

I grew up and lived in Orlando most of my life (I just shared this with Tiffany / Hoosier Handmade but I can't remember if I mentioned this to you before - if I'm repeating . . . sorry!) I bought the fabric for my wedding dress at the Sewing Studio 35 years ago. My boys still live in Orlando. And at some point or another my entire family worked at Disney World, myself included. My mom was actually a character - usually Pinocchio. I worked in the construction offices of Disney's Boardwalk. My dad and grandad worked in the Drapery Department. My grandmother and aunt worked in a couple of the shops. 🙂Loved all your purchases! I just picked up New Look 6216 over the weekend because my Hobby Lobby is clearancing out there NL patterns and they were 99 cents. I also picked up another pattern I've seen you make but I can't think of which one it is at the moment. Anyway - looking forward to all your makes!
The minute I read your comment this morning I had to send it over to my daughter! She is a complete Disney fanatic, lives and breathes it. How awesome that your mum was a character but are you telling me now that they aren't real?! 🤔😂. I have heard that it is always a secret who the 'main guy' is (Mickey), is that true? My husband did a Disney course once on training and customer service in Disneyworld years ago and to this day, he doesn't stop going on about it and all the secrets he learnt 😴. How awesome that your entire family worked there. Anyway!! Back to sewing.... I think you will like NL 6216, its a nice simple make and the trousers are good too. I just want to give you encouragement for Butterick 6327. I have had great success with it and it is one of my favorite patterns! I have used it to make 4 pairs of work pants out of a couple different bottom weight twills, one lightweight suiting fabric, and one stretch suiting fabric. I plan to make a pair in denim sometime - not sure if mine will qualify as proper “jeans” as I do not plan to put on rivets or designs on the back pockets but they will look close enough for me. With the things you have made before I do not see you having any problem with this pattern 🙂

Wow! Carole you hit the jackpot with those fabrics and patterns. I really love that raspberry print, it looks great against your skin. You look great in those bright colors, it really brings out the color of your eyes and hair. Looking younger is just a bonus. I don’t have any fabric stores close to me except for Walmart, not a fabric store, they are no selling much fabric and patterns these days. I’m interested to see what you make with those beautiful fabrics. Tell your hubby I said he would look younger also if he would wear that raspberry fabric! Lol I can hear it now. Sad to hear you don't have any physical fabric stores near you, it is so much nicer to see fabrics in person. I am so impatient I never want to get the samples posted they offer. It is funny but when Chris wears red he does look younger! He looks all dull and grey when he wears blue etc, perhaps he needs more brightness in his life too 😂. Looks like you had a lot of fun shopping for supplies! Lots of really beautiful things, but that pre-quilted fabric is stunning. I was looking for pre-quilted fabric this week and no luck (Australia). I actually found it would be easier and likely cheaper to order a QS/KS comforter from a discount department store. A bit said to go cutting up a comforter but it is what it is.

Hi Carole! I'm sure you've heard that you just missed out on the New Look pattern clearance at Hobby Lobby. My Hobby Lobby didn't have a lot of patterns to get rid of but I found a few that I just had to try out. For .99 each I figured you couldn't go wrong. (That's like maybe, what, 75p each?) Anyway, you found a lot of nice patterns and the fabric...wow! You did good, Girl!! LOLOLOL...Your new fabric and pattern supply will keep you going for a while anyway. Happy Sewing!!

Well, supposedly, the JoAnn's we all visited with you will not be one to close down because it's considered something like a main on-line order type of store in our area as well. I sure hope it doesn't! Can't wait to see what you've made already. Instead of spending time in my sewing room today, I was outside on the pool deck taking care of the plants out there -- weeding, fertilizing, watering, etc. It was in the 80's today! Whew!! And I have not felt like doing that type of work for several weeks until today. YEAH! (for me...) Have a great week!

I started watching Mimi G about 6 years ago when she was just a content creator and watched her grow her career. I don't follow her anymore as her style isn't mine but I do remember a brilliant series she did with her hubby (Norris?) where they chose the same fabric and made up different things, it was great! 😊🧵

Hi there, a few people have suggested patterns for the quilted fabric and I think the one that will win will be the one with a printed pattern 😂. I do like Love Notions patterns though, wish they weren't just PDF. The quilted fabric came from JoAnns, I just couldn't resist that! Have a super week 🧵😊
Carole, it's pretty funny that you enjoy Joanns and Hobby Lobby so much in the States. They are the only 2 stores for sewing in my area of upstate NY and I am so over them. I buy (almost) all of my fabrics from the UK and occasionally France now. But you got the advantage of the exchange rate being in favor of the sterling pound over the US dollar. Lucky girl! Just as an FYI, Minerva Fabrics in the UK recently added quilted fabrics to their range and they are gorgeous! You should take a look at their introductory video and of the patterns they recommend. ua-cam.com/video/Ad6hTNmjh6o/v-deo.html . I also liked the pale green, with darker green lines, fabric and it brought to mind a cute summer top but with shirring for the middle of the back panel. Anyway, thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for the link and heads up on the Minerva fabric. I order from them a lot as the post can be quite fast if you pay for it! I always fail with fabric though as I find it hard to buy exactly what I want online...hence my excitement when I come to the USA! Sometimes I just want to touch the fabric and see the colours in real life. I will take a look at the link though as I am really interested to see what they suggest. I have actually been to some wonderful French fabric shops on holiday and actually a marvellous one I found in Spain. We are just really lacking in my part of the UK sadly. Carole, you will have to just travel into London to visit all of the amazing fabric shops and to Birmingham where Guthrie and Ghani are located. Seems like that would be easier than waiting to come to the US. Anyway, thank you for all of your lovely content.

Hi Stephanie, thanks for watching. I did indeed take my crochet on the plane, two hooks, sewing needles and some baby scissors ( the rounded end ones) all with no trouble at all. I have to say I didn't SAY I had them, they were just in a bag that went through security. I have done it many times in Spain, Canada, Austria, USA and obviously the UK airports. The airport people you asked probably didn't know what they were 😂, I know that knitting needles aren't allowed so they may have gotten confused. Have a great week 🧵😊

It's too bad you that you did not stay in the USA longer, as New Look patterns went on clearance for 99 cents each at Hobby Lobby.
I KNOW!! I couldn't believe literally the day after we left the New Look clearance started 😂. I did get some for cheaper than I would do here anyway, so I didn't lose out all together. Hope New Look doesn't discontinue like Kwik Sew did. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
What is pop knit?
Pop is a fabric brand geared to children that is sold at JoAnn stores. I love their thick knit because that one does have a good recovery.
Thanks for your comment. Now someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I understand POP knit to be a brand of cotton jersey that JoAnns stock. In my opinion and several others it isn't the best quality. Mainly suitable for children's clothes and nightwear however, the prints are very cute and quite varied. What a terrific fabric haul. I bet the prices were pretty good too. I really miss our C&H fabric shop which closed a couple of years ago. There is now nothing in our area to replace it. I’m sorry but patchwork shops don’t fill the gap. I’m sure you’ll have a lovely time making them up. It’s so long since I got the chance to do fabric shopping in the USA. I really miss it, your video filled the gap vicariously.
@@trishsh5007yes I miss c and h also as it closed down and we lost our fabric land. It’s so nice to see and touch fabric in real life, I’ve made several mistakes shopping on line.
