The problem with that Nissan GTR has always been the weight. It's always so heavy & bulky for the power it generated. That's why it's always beaten by other cars in terms of speed like some of the BMW M's CS, Audi R8 & Porsche 911's. 😧
Fun fact the launch control in the GTR makes it a lot faster off the line, and the launch control in the supra makes it launch slower 🥴😂

It would kinda be unfair to the Toyota Supra, as at the end of the day the Honda and Nissan are supercars (they also cost a lot too) and have a lot more power, whereas the Toyota is just a sports car.

Supra competes with the Z, not the GT-R. Not even in the same league. GT-R is where NSX and 911 are at.
@Justen G I don’t know about that because the most expensive Nissan for sale costs a lot more than the most expensive BMW on today’s market. BMW doesn’t even have any cars that breaks the $200K mark yet. Not even the i8.

A stock M5 can not beat a stock GT-R, not on a drag and never on a track. What’s BMW’s best Nürburgring time vs Nissan’s ring time? Didn’t think so.
@Justen G oh puhleeze, you’re just in denial. Any official sources shows the M5 is in the low 11s or high 10s while a Nismo GT-R is about 0.2s quicker. The old RB26 is a better block than the 2JZ and the new VQ is still better than the B58. BMW doesn’t even have a dedicated sports car platform, all are shared and derived from sedan/suv.

@@lordmaster5522 Sorry, the RB block is not better than a 2jz block. The RN N1 isn't, nor is the GT500 RB block. I love nissans and still admit the 2jz is a better block. Check out motive video on YT, they measure a 2jz vs a RB30 vs a Barra. They also measure RB26 variants in a different vid.

As another GTR owner I agree, definitely want it in comfort when launching. I can't count the number of times I see GTR launch videos where they put everything in R R R to launch.

Knew the Godzilla was going to win, but that Supra was still barely keeping up with the GTR. Even the GTR has AWD and about 200 HP more than the Supra. Respect for both cars! Both great cars IMO.
the best part of the gtr is that it has a true nissan engine vs the impostor.

This is an amazing test for reals, but you gotta test it in the track. Corner speeds are just as important if not more than straight line speed. Especially considering how both their drivetrains perform, plus they're made for that type of racing.

Altitude hurts cars here man. Best 0 to 60 I was able to do with my gtr was 3.2.
Wow so the Supra did 4.4 0-60 on that launch pretty dam good My TLX Type S did a 4.9 so with the Jb4 it will do the 4.4 as others are doing wow that is mind bogling to me. That AWD SH makes a huge difference.
I’ve owned both. Stock for stock the GT-R kills my 21 Supra. Modified is a different story. I upgraded my GT-R with an Alpha 7 package on full E-85 tuned by Devin at Boostin Performance and recently upgraded my Supra with an AMS catless downpipe, Boost Logic exhaust and a Visconti flex fuel kit tuned by Jacob at AMS. I feel like my Supra is just a bit faster.

Really wish they had each car get pro tuned and run them. Then down pipes and run them. Followed by a flex fuel kit running E85 and run them to compare what we all would do if we had them.
The PSS on the Supras are a Summer tire, not all seasons. At least mine weren’t. However, I’ve daily’d mine on them for the past two years here in the Midwest, all year ‘round. 🤪

As I sit now I just sold my jack of all trades WRX hatch and got a 4Runner. (needed more ground clearance, better 4WD ability, wanted remote start, ect.) In a few years I'm going to buy a pure sports car just for the purpose of being fun to drive since I'm going the 2 car route now. It WILL be a manual trans though.......so right now I want to see what the Nissan 400Z (or just "Z" they might call it) has to offer, or maybe a Camaro SS. EV vehicles aren't on my radar, at all. In retirement I know I'll end up eventually getting a damned EV when that is the only option I have :/

GT-R's and Supra's are such great cars it isn't about performance that determines which is better, it's how cool they are that matters. And even then it's personal taste. I am a Skyline fanboy purely for it's design but I respect the the Supra lovers.

I only clicked this video to let you know it’s more than obvious that the GTR won. It’s literally twice the price, more power, AWD, and a dual clutch with launch control. I love your videos but this is not even a slightly close comparison. JS but I do love you guys keep up the good work.
For being $100k difference, its pretty close. Good video and a $750 jb4 tune getting that 3.7 on supra is really good. Love my 2021 supra but gtr is a beast in every way

I want an Alpha Romeo 4C with an 312HP Tune, Cold Air Intake and Centerline exhaust. 0-60 in 4.2 seconds or less with launch control. 🤙🏼 After that, GTR all the way. Big fan of BMW though, a used Supra in 5 years would be a sweet daily driver if I don’t get a 99’ Honda Civic Si.

These cars are obviously in different classes, however I'm impressed how close it was most of the time. Definitely makes spending twice as much on the GTR a harder sale. Still would rather have the GTR, but realistically I'd most likely go for the Supra if I was in the market for these cars.

For suspension for the GT-R put it in comfort and it will be slightly quicker because of weight transfer because the suspension gets softer
For you next video, can I suggest a match up between a C8 and GTR. That would be a much better match both power wise and price.
many supra deities here are concerned with brand quality compared to engines, there are 2 cars where the 2 cars are factory standard, it is proven that GTR wins in terms of engine

Ah yes, only the Supra is allowed to have mods. As we know Nissan GTRs can't be modded or anything, right? The Supra only had a chance when the GTR had an easy start with no launch control. Otherwise it got killed. That's not keeping up to me..

Comparing a 300hp rwd car with 3.0T to a 550hp awd car with 3.8TT makes no sense
I don't think it's fair to call the current generation Supra JDM at all. The Nissan wins subjectively because it's a pure JDM product imported to various other world markets.

These are unfortunately completely different classes of cars (which you did at least mention). The GR Supra is more in line with Nissan's midrange sport car, the Z series, which is what it was directly competing with in the 90's as well. I'll be more excited to see the Supra and the new Z.
I do have to admit though, the Supra did better than I expected.
Tbf, a tune, downpipe and maybe a new turbo would probably match or pull on the GTR. GTR's power is displaced over 4 wheels, while the supra only has two. The GTR has twin turbos, vs the twinscroll which is more of a parody of a twin turbo system. Not really an even match stock v stock, but the supra did well for what it is.
What did the original GTR come out to compete with?

Some things never change. This has always been the result, and it always will be. Heck, even when in the 90s the GT-R had less power than the Supra it still accelerated faster because of AWD. These new toys are just monsters comparatively

Yeah the turbo lag is baaaaad in the GT-R, however, the boost is phenomenal and it takes off~ It is still quick for today's standards, even if it can't beat more modern cars. It still comes close with those cars, and can still keep up.

In the GTR putting the suspension into r mode is slower. You want comfort as you want the suspension to squat and load up the rears tyres

2021 Supras are Dyning at 380 to the wheel and 385 torque making the it a 450 HP car with almost 500 pounds of torque. The 2020 are about 35 HP less on the Dyno same Torque but more Tunable because the ECU is not locked and can make over 500 HP with just a few mods.
Do a complete track with both cars next time 🥱
R35 would destroy the A90
Track time at HPR is hard to come by, and I'm not sure how much track day experience the TFL presenters have. IMI's paved track is not suitable for cars, especially not ones this powerful, it is a kart track that is also suitable for smaller motorcycles like super motos

@@pancho1071 this engine is good, is being considered the new 2jz. Toyota didn't choose this without a reason. 600whp would be reliable on this engine, of course that a prep engine requires more maintenance, but you should have no trouble if done correctly.

Probably will never see a motor like a 2JZ again. I can't think of any petrol engines today that are made out of cast iron anymore. Pretty much everything is cast aluminum.
