Polish food, and Eastern European food in general, is so underrated, and it's the perfect hearty winter food.
Poland is in Central Europe, not Eastern! xD
But on the upside it’s not Americanized like Italian, Chinese, and even Mexican food also yea Poland is Eastern Europe I know I’m from there
@@tomhoedt6467 Saying that Poland is in Eastern Europe neither geographically nor culturally makes sense. Geographically, Poland is even slightly more to the west (I recommend checking where exactly the center of Europe is), while culturally we are a mixture of both worlds, west and east, so it makes the most sense to say that Poland is located in Central Europe, not East or West
@@retrix9169 oh don’t get all triggered now. And culturally it’s Eastern Europe
@@retrix9169 It's Eastern, Poland was created more then millenium ago and by 99% of it's history it was located on what was consideterd, the East of Europe. Due to that, they by the most part were influenced by local region (East again), with some expections (German settlers in Northern Poland). This, with combination of the fact that Poles are slavs themself (people of Eastern European origins) means that they are Eastern. Due to that, most of the culture and mindset is Eastern European by nature, and only now we can see it's westernization. But sure, make less then 2 minutes of reaserch via Google maps and call it a quit.
Love Polish people! One of my good friends is Polish and his parents make the best food, also very hospitable. As a Hungarian, we have a lot in common. Much love to my Polish brothers and sisters

I have a favorite Mediterranean restaurant that specializes in middle eastern dishes. My neighbor who comes from Iraq doesn't like to eat there. Surprised, I asked why? She said it was because she made the dishes better. And it's probably the same with this Polish restaurant. People used to the Polish cuisine of their grandmothers and mothers do not like to eat there. Foreigners like it. I also know Poles who like it (these are usually those who can't cook themselves).
@@metalgearsolidsnake6978 I remember that I liked smoked salmon there (so not really polish). I have to go back one day and check if something changed. Might be great now. The last time I was there was approximately 13 years ago.

Chicago has the largest Polish community in the Nation so I have enjoyed their ethnic culture and food. When Polish couples have a wedding its a great enjoyment experience with food and dancing. Attended many weddings and was always fun.

Polish food is underrated. I am fortunate to be 100% and grew up in the Chicago area. My whole childhood was eating this amazing food. Every person that we introduced our food to, loves it. It is criminal that we don't have Polish food chain restaurants in this Country.
My grandma made stuffed cabbage every year for Christmas Eve dinner. They are called Golabki, Man I miss them.
So did my grandma and she called them the same thing 😊…Because of this video my mom is going to make them for Christmas .
Ye gołąb = pigeon we hunt them, preparing then Rolling into cabbage
@@erraticpattern7011 The hardest part is making feathers eatable.
@@erraticpattern7011 I think how many people think that is true 😚🤗☺️💜🇵🇱
* Gołąbki...and we only use minced pigeon breast mixed with rice rolled in cabbage leaves. The heads and feet we use to make gell-o. Delicious with spiritus vinegar and rye bread.
The Polish buffet looked absolutely amazing.
it's so nice seeing someone be so positive about my country's food. it's not very glamorous, but it is worthy of attention
The food looks amazing! I went to a Polish all you can eat restaurant about 20 years ago in Chicago it was a small place but the food was phenomenal.
Polish food like this remind everyone in Poland about mother's cuisine, when you took bite off stuffed cabbage (gołąbki) i felt this taste in my mouth, also pierogi is the most underated dumplings in the world, meet and sauerkraut, mushrooms, potatoe with cottage cheese. And if you can't taste polish fermented foods, go for it.
The buffet looks appetizing 🤤
Roladki!!! Tesknie za babcinymi :) jedzenie wyglada bardzo bardzo tradycyjnie!
I was kind of surprised to see some german dishes, as well as some dishes, where variants also exist in germany. that stuffed cabbage reminded me so much of the german kohlrouladen, maybe just with a tomatoe sauce? probably also different spices to the cumin used for kohlrouladen.
its a shame that there arent really any polish restaurants where i am, even though its in eastern germany. i guess if there is not a decent amount of polish immigrants or near the border, then the need for explicitly polish restaurants will fall.
@@Opferklopper we had one in Finland in Tampere but they went out of business even though the food was good. It just didn’t make much money because of being foreign but that is Finlands’ main problem… not liking different than Indian food, sushi or pizza… the cabbage is I think actually borrowed from German origin because we make it in tomato sauce and we were under German occupation so many things actually got incorporated into Polish cuisines :)
@@manieczkaa not sure about the tomato thing being german. naturally it could be, but the german stuffed cabbage rolls are not made with tomato sauce (although when i wanted to look for an recipe it said to use tomato paste, which is not a thing in my family at least and if it was enough to turn the sauce red, then it is also not used in restaurants, since the sauce there is also brown)
This makes me miss my grandmother even more. She was a master of Polish cooking.
It's so Polish, everyone remembers their grandmother's cuisine with nostalgia. There is no better!
Yes, this reminds me of my paternal grandmother's cooking! She was born in Poland but grew up in the United States and she taught my Vietnamese mother to make golabki, pierogi and the best chicken soup in the world. When I took a trip to Poland I loved the food everywhere I went.
The way you describe all the food in detail and your reactions makes your eating videos very relaxing to watch. I'm also quite surprised how much you've actually eaten, because Polish food is quite heavy and man you can eat a lot!

After watching several videos by the mighty Mikey; I think I know why he is so successful in doing this:
1. Personable delivery as of he is sharing his findings to you like a real trusted friend would, straight no chase, very relatable.
2. The additions of his life, his family and genuine feelings on many things in his videos are precious; a rarity nowadays anywhere, especially on line.
3. His enthusiasm for eating is a delight to watch! He seems to have found his calling and he obviously is enjoying his “job”. Good on him!

I’m Polish and from Chicago, and I literally grew up on Red Apple. We would go all the time with my Babcia. Thanks for the nostalgia
I am so happy that finally someone talks about Polish food, which in my opinion, is one of the best in Europe :D It would be great Mikey if you come to Poland to show the amazing food we have here.
Żurek, Bigos, Pierogi, many amazing soups we have like Pickle Cucumber soup, Kapuśniak, Chłodnik (a cold, pink borscht which came from Lithuania but is very popular here), and even more extreme ones like Flaki (a tripe soup that everyone loves in Poland) or even Czernina (a blood sweet soup popular in regions like Greater Poland or Kuyavia, the best place where i ate Czernina was in Hyćka Restaurant in Poznań). Many amazing places like blue van (Kiełbaski z niebieskiej nyski) in Kraków that parks everyday in one of the parking lots near Hala Targowa and serves Grilled Kiełbasa for almost 30 years. Regional foods like oscypek cheese or potato pancakes "po zbójnicku" with delicious goulash and cheese in Tatra region. It would be amazing if you show Milk Bar culture, a cheap restaurant that was very popular in the communist times and now making a comeback that serves traditional polish dinner. Polish streetfood is also very intersitng with Kiełbasa and Zapiekanka being served in many places. And of course many amazing desserts like Pączki, Makowiec, Sernik, Racuchy. I think it would an amazing series and I think you would have a lot of fun here :D

One thing the polish and Italians have in common is their food hospitality is off the charts. If you only eat one full plate of food, it's considered rude. You eat until all the food on the table is gone. And then you eat some more.
Can we all appreciate the fact that this guy never disappointed us with his content 🤗
Right. He eat so much which I can't that's why I appreciate it
The green beans looked amazing. I would get a plate of just those.
Mikey you made me chuckle. There were so many "mmm" & "oh", it made the whole meal look delicious.
its so cool that you're in Chicago! this is the first series that I'll be able to check out some of the restraunts you visited, and ive been watching for years now.
Mikey, you are singing the songs of my people! LOVE Polish food! Thank you for a wonderful video! 💜
I grew up eating Polish food cooked by my Polish grandmother and I must say this buffet looks wonderful! But as for the deep dish pizza, I’d skip it. Looks like a heart attack on a plate.
Polen uber alles
That kind of food scream for vodka :D, usually in Poland we eat fatty things and meat when we preparing for drinking night as this is good for your stomach and you can drink more.
The polish buffet is probably on my top 3 buffets to try!!!!
First, Mikey makes me want to go visit Texas and now he added Chicago to my want to go to list! I'll wait for the day to come for the safe travel and until then, I'll watch Mikey go there and show me the places to go~ Thanks and safe travel as always!
chicago should be on your "want to go" list at any time, purely because of how great their food is.
@Waiting on Carmine Do you live here? Chicago is not as bad as people make it out to be.
@Waiting on Carmine oh put a sock on it
@Waiting on Carmine I think the South and East sides of Chicago are bad, while the other parts are actually pretty nice. You seem like the type to also label NYC as a warzone but as someone that lives here, I can tell you that it's grossly exaggerated. You have good and bad areas in every city.
Lived in the chicago area for 22 years. It's beautiful, food is amazing, people are great, you'll love it.
Here because my husband is polish American. He and my kids know the polish foods and the birthday song in polish (thanks to my in laws, they’re 2 and 5). Just learned I’m half Italian and half Jewish (my dad was adopted so I didn’t know nor grew up with it) so I’m trying to learn for my kids 🥰
Polish people are the best!! I grew up in Massachusetts and whenever I met Polish Americans they were always the nicest. Plus hard working and under rated food.
Great video. We love Polish food. That buffet looks super cool... a reason to visit Chicago.
We have several polish buffets in the “greater” Chicagoland area.
Im polish and have always watched your videos. This put a smile on my face
Everything looked awesome! I'm half Polish, and I didn't know there is a Polish buffet in Chicago! The pizza looked awesome. The same pizza restaurant is right in my neighborhood.
it makes my heart so happy that you enjoyed these polish dishes!! there are a few other great polish restaurants in the Chicagoland area, one really good one is Polish Paczki Cafe! They are known for their a m a z i n g paczki, plus they have a variety of entrees and sides that are pretty delicious. sending love xx
I always go to 'Jolly Inn' AYCE buffet. Another winner.
Mike's doing the most with uploads every other day!! Love it!!❤❤
First time I watched your blog. Love it!!! Loved the Polish smorgy. Ty
This pizza looks like a truly spiritual experience. I need this in my life. 🍕
Thank you Mike for this Video. Watching all these traditional food, was like coming Home to my polish Grandparents. ❤
Loved the Polish buffet, the Golumpkies. Brings back memories. Thanks
OMG! 😯 The desserts look SO YUMMY! 😋😋😋
Nice to see someone visiting my hometown eating something besides just beefs, hotdogs, and pizza! Had no idea this joint was here!
