This brings me memories! One time I was asked to drive a truck that lost the muffler back to the yard, and my boss at the yard said that he could hear me shifting a mile away and that I had no reason to use a Jake brake on an empty truck, he wasn't a happy camper! On the other hand I couldn't stop smiling!
Where I live there are signs everywhere in residential areas because of this reason. I,m a trucker myself and I only use engine brakes on the highway not in the city. Lucky for residence newer trucks are not this noisy but I do love the sound.

I've had my CDL since 2003 and drive a dump truck for a living but you would never see me driving this well. This man just showed me I don't a damn thing about shifting a big truck! That's what I thought too, I drove an fld shaker with a Detroit and a 10 speed Rockwell pushing it was a beautiful shifting truck never had to touch the clutch. I also had a 2007 Dodge 3500 with a 6 speed, hotshot rig. After 2,000 miles in that thing my left leg was hurting me something awful, definitely makes a difference. Not too mention wear and tear on a $2,000 clutch
