Thats pretty interesting. You are the third commentor to have a bad experience with the cranks I have. I have used them on two bikes with no problem. Must have gotten lucky with mine.
That seems fun. My girlfriend wants me to make a Dixie mountain bike. Im probly going to buy or make a cheep dirt jumper put on a front brake and bolt a cog on the disk mount so it will be a flip flop hub so we can both use it
Nice video It's not the mainpoint to ride expensive brands, it's all about the fun wirh the bike. And to build your own bike, is in my opinion the right way. Have fun. Peace and best wishes from germany ✌😉👍
Love the video mate, can't find anyone that have built cheap bike like u did and made a video out of it, love to see using older frames like that one being used again
sweet build. I'm watching this in late jun 2020 when ALL hardtails are sold out in the US and the used market is terrible. I have no idea how to acquire a bike.
You should make more videos man! Very well done and informative, would love to see you build a higher end all mountain full suspension if your still planning on getting one!!🤙🤙 building is def cheaper than buying and you get to choose everything to your spec
Nice bike, make sure to pump the tires to 40+ psi for dirt jumps (most of the pros run 60) and also add a lot of air to the forks, it makes pumping a lot more efficient, but you still get the benefit of suspension. Another thing is rebound, youll wanna have that pretty slow to not mess you up on landings. Hope to see tou flyin soon bro
nice video, if you get a money in the future i suggest to buy cozmic dx (old series) of polygon frame, they cheap and sturdy as hell. for fork i suggest you get a secondhand manitou stance,
Great vid really interesting I own a specialized enduro pro I am working on a project like this for about 800 it’s going to be a go everywhere do everything sketchy type of bike
inspiring budget build porbably the best on UA-cam turned out really nice i would recommend bars with higher rise and a better stem other than that its really cool
i have a question: im thinking of doing this and am wondering if i could utilize a set of bmx cranks, pedals, and sprocket i have? and when i buy the frame and forks, do i have to buy any specific bearings for the BB and forks?
every frame will have a specific steerer tube profile (like 1 1/8" tapered for example) and bb thread and spacing (like english and 65mm for example). Once you buy the frame it is hard to make any parts that don't fit compatible. You can be a bb for super cheap on amazon so I would just make sure your cranks will work. www.chainreactioncycles.com/us/en/octane-one-zircus-frame-2018/rp-prod155480 This link is to a frame type that should work for you.
@@thejourneyman4599 I've just decided I'd rather buy a complete just for the warranty, and peace of mind. Probably the Norco ryde 24, since it'll probably feel closer to what I want. Thanks for the help!
I've been very cautious buying those china stem and handlebars, in fear of them snapping, and me loosing all my teeth. Have you had any issues with them? And have you been doing any hard riding on your bike? Thanks
I make sure when I buy from cheap dealers that they list the material. The aluminum grade for example. I do some hard riding on the bike but Im not a heavy rider. I make sure I really inspect my stuff for defects. If I dont have 100% faith in my stuff I just dont ride the same. Gotta go with your gut.
What if I told you there is a much better option for the crank set that costs about the same or even end up cheaper. Basically Shimano since 2018 got a triple Acera crankset witch is basically a solid as hell and weights the same as a Deore when you sell the stupid steel chainrings it comes with. It's Shimano MT-300 best find I ever made
Sounds like an awesome option. I have a triple Acera too but its an old one and the chain rings are riveted on. Ill keep my eye out for a newer one. Thanks!
I live in the Denver area too, but in the current times I can’t seem to find any good deals on bikes. I was looking in the $600 range for a build or a prebuilt bike, and everywhere I look everything is out of stock or people just aren’t selling. Any ideas?
Do you sell it or do you know how I can get one im in mexico and I got deportet 8 years ago so I need something cheep I only win 150 pesos a day man that like 10 us buck
@JameZz_MTB you dont have to have a dirt jump frame (I didnt!) but it is highly recomended. If not, look for a beefy frame with good welds that has a short seat tube and cross country like head tube angle (look at the geometry of well established dj frames I am partial to transition brand djs). If you dont go for a dj frame make sure the frame supports a modern fork and has the current standard of 26 inch wheels. if you are looking to build with a dj frame the cheapest acceptable frame is the octane one zircus. Good luck man! Be sure to let me know what you end up doing!
Next, you should try a $500 full suspension mountain bike!
That's actually a great idea
I build my full suspension bike for 200$. Hot chili frame, rockshox tora fork, rockshox sid shock, deore brakes and drivetrain.
@@headless7345 how :o
hi would you build one with a Groupset, certain gear ratio
@@headless7345 da frick
I found a free Marin hard tail frame in a bush! I might do this
Wow lucky
I used those cranks for dirtjumping and managed to rip out the pedal threads two times
Thats pretty interesting. You are the third commentor to have a bad experience with the cranks I have. I have used them on two bikes with no problem. Must have gotten lucky with mine.
Can we get an update on those cheap amazon parts you've been using? How have the cranks held up?
Great video man!!!
And how the hell did you get a halo wheel with whatever hub for 40 bucks!?!?
The hub comes with the wheel. However I was still surprised it was so cheap
@@jameswilman1490 admittedly it was through a prodeal i have with the bikeshop
Got that crankset myself, still going strong, just metal at the end of the day! Snail!
I have this chain ring.. it's awesome if ur chain is jumping off.. it locks it in so well.
That seems fun. My girlfriend wants me to make a Dixie mountain bike. Im probly going to buy or make a cheep dirt jumper put on a front brake and bolt a cog on the disk mount so it will be a flip flop hub so we can both use it

It's actually very good frame. SuperGo used to make the access, very good frame builders.

One of the best bike build videos out there! Keep up the great work! Video was fun to watch and made me smile 😃
Thanks man!
250$ is already a pretty expensive kind here in the philippines. What you made is already a rich kid’s beginner bike here 😁 great vid. Earned a sub 👍
Thanks! Maybe I can put together even a cheaper one
the journeyman be looking forward to it bro 👍😊
nice video man! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw you only had 81 subscribers. The subs will come, just keep up the high quality content!
Coool video! I recently built a mountain bike out of a 2006 santa cruz bullet frame I found on craigslist for $100
Thats an awesome deal.
great build i would love to have a bike exactly like that.
Great video man, really nice quality content! The plug for local bike shops was a nice touch too 😉. Keep it up!
Dude about 4 days ago I bought the same chainring lol but I didn’t know it was called snail... but it seems to be working out great man
What was that sound, when you were going downstairs? Btw what parts
The chain slapping against the frame. It's normal.

Awesome build
loved this video.Made me subscribe as it's the 1st vid I've watched from your channel👍
Nice. Thinking of converting my 20yr old Mt. Bike into a jumper.
You should. Ive had nothing but success with this thing

Dude good video man, lmk if you're ever in Colorado springs and want to ride.

Hey guys I need some cheap video ideas!
Another bike build plz!!!!!!
Painting a bike
how about a review of the bike after all this time? what you liked, what you would change, etc.
Needs way more views
Are you really happy with the geometry?
yeah its has a shorter seat post than it looks in the vid.

That's a nice build but do you think your chain will get loose after time and without a tensioner?
I doubt it. Possibly the chain might stretch but I don't think it would he that bad.
Been wanting to try an oval chainring, but not oval prices. Where'd you get that one and how's it been holding up?

Thanks!
I really need to know what size that seat tube length is
Nice vid!
So how do you make sure the frame is compatible for a single speed and disc brake
Dude halo wheels are expensiveeee. Strong af though
I have a DJ that I use on skate park and street.. I have a SR Suntour cross coutry fork.. Is that ok for what I do?
Ive had nothing but trouble with those cheap cranksets lol i stripped the plastic piece and it wasnt a standard size so the cranks kept falling off
Thats what I keep hearing. I guess I got lucky with them.

What kind of geometry had to be on the frame? Or its a regular mtb frame?
I was only looking for a short seat tube and beefy chain/seat stays. Not exactly a pure bread dj but it works great.
Who would dislike this😂
How much did it weigh, I ask 2 years later...
bearings? for the top tube fork whatever im not great at those parts
Make more of these
Hey man what frame size was that
2:36 rear brake in the back???? 😂
Sick
super!!
wait u live in Denver so do I
Where can I find those cranks?
just look up on amazon crank set. they come up on the first page
Casual MTB Rider had it right. But beware, Ive had a few people tell me they are garbage.
@@thejourneyman4599 they must be. if there cheap there made cheap

how come youve stoped making videos? they was good!
Bro I moved to louisiana. Not a big MTB scene in louisiana!
I have the same stem
post a video of dirt jumping
How does one know what is considered "good" geometry?
Did you get bearings for the frame n forks are did they just fit
he got them with the bike
@kevcentral uses the same SNAIL cranks on Budget builds and says there tip top.......
What hearing did you use
What do you mean?
@@aidenedlund8116 13tooth. it has been good for me
Ok thanks
What single speed conversion did you use?!?
Cheap Amazon 11 tooth. The spacing is based of the hub measure

Man my frame cost under 200$ from a big brand (on my country).yeahhh that is if I change my currency to dollar
nice work for 250$
Thanks man.
no problem would be interesting if you could post some videos about the bike how it keeps up on the dirt bike trails.
