    Nice bike, make sure to pump the tires to 40+ psi for dirt jumps (most of the pros run 60) and also add a lot of air to the forks, it makes pumping a lot more efficient, but you still get the benefit of suspension. Another thing is rebound, youll wanna have that pretty slow to not mess you up on landings. Hope to see tou flyin soon bro

    i have a question: im thinking of doing this and am wondering if i could utilize a set of bmx cranks, pedals, and sprocket i have? and when i buy the frame and forks, do i have to buy any specific bearings for the BB and forks?

    • @thejourneyman4599
      @thejourneyman4599  6 років тому

      every frame will have a specific steerer tube profile (like 1 1/8" tapered for example) and bb thread and spacing (like english and 65mm for example). Once you buy the frame it is hard to make any parts that don't fit compatible. You can be a bb for super cheap on amazon so I would just make sure your cranks will work.

    I've been very cautious buying those china stem and handlebars, in fear of them snapping, and me loosing all my teeth. Have you had any issues with them? And have you been doing any hard riding on your bike? Thanks

    • @thejourneyman4599
      @thejourneyman4599  5 років тому

      I make sure when I buy from cheap dealers that they list the material. The aluminum grade for example. I do some hard riding on the bike but Im not a heavy rider. I make sure I really inspect my stuff for defects. If I dont have 100% faith in my stuff I just dont ride the same. Gotta go with your gut.

    What if I told you there is a much better option for the crank set that costs about the same or even end up cheaper. Basically Shimano since 2018 got a triple Acera crankset witch is basically a solid as hell and weights the same as a Deore when you sell the stupid steel chainrings it comes with. It's Shimano MT-300 best find I ever made

    • @thejourneyman4599
      @thejourneyman4599  5 років тому

      @JameZz_MTB you dont have to have a dirt jump frame (I didnt!) but it is highly recomended. If not, look for a beefy frame with good welds that has a short seat tube
      and cross country like head tube angle (look at the geometry of well established dj frames I am partial to transition brand djs). If you dont go for a dj frame make sure the frame supports a modern fork and has the current standard of 26 inch wheels.
      if you are looking to build with a dj frame the cheapest acceptable frame is the octane one zircus. Good luck man! Be sure to let me know what you end up doing!
