53:06 I absolutely love that Jacob is trying to make a solid, thoughtful point while this whacky sproing sound effect is played a hundred times in a row
Legend has it that a man appears at 1:20. Some even speak of him playing a game at 3:33. I wouldn't bet on it, though. Townsfolk tend to grasp onto any hope they can make up.
thank the lord somebody else thinks that everything made with artistic intent (even "shitty" things) is art because i have a screaming match with my wall about that subject every time i'm reminded of it
I agree, although I do also believe things can be considered art even if the original creator denies/does not mention artistic intent. I don't get people who try to enforce restrictions on what can and can't be art. Doing that feels like you are just trying to say "only what I like to see in art is art"
49:38 Totally agree on the annoyance with needing to compare widely different games. I despise when these types of "objective" rankings of media/art happen. I admit at times it's fun to compare and contrast two or more pieces of media/art, might even reveal more things to like about each piece or give you a better idea why you like/dislike a piece, but as soon as this thought experiment leaves your personal taste and enters the realm of "objective discussion" shit gets needlessly caustic. The real shit part is that some people can't distinguish between this personal taste discussion and objective discussion and default to thinking it's the latter and getting unbelievably assmad you don't like a thing
44:33 Honestly so true. I mean it's one thing that its bad and disinteresting on it's own merit, but the fact that its actively harming the market's opportunity for other things is what really turns what would otherwise be a general apathy into a burning hatred.
I bought this game last week due to watching the vods of your streams of it on here, honestly it's one of my favorite games I've played this year, it's so incredibly creative I love it! Been playing a ton of it on my Steam Deck recently.
grayfruit talking shit about awards shows (deserved) reminded me of that one oscar's where they did the best animated feature and the hosts were like "we as KIDS grew up with these KIDS movies and our KIDS love them too, now here's a bunch of movies for STUPID BABIES"
50:30 Oh, it's _absolutely_ objective. Part and parcel of being an awards show is positioning yourself as being the arbiter of "good". Also: I was going to say that you should start your own awards show where you celebrate the interesting, unique, and well-made games of the year, but that's basically just what you stream, innit?
I don't know about that because I really don't play a wide enough variety of games to make any sort of awards show. best I could do is like Dunkey's best of the year videos where he just talks about great games he happened to play that year regardless of their release date
I don't know if grayfruit would be interested in this recommendation but I really think the perfet next game to stream he would be halo. Since he played doom and is playing half life, it would be fair for him to play a game as iconic for shooters games and gaming in general as these two.
the idea of comparing pieces of art, deeming some worthy of praise and others worthy of ire, is a practice taken directly from the fascism hand book. the Oscars and the game awards put a nice coat of paint on it but still are quite literally claiming that some art is better than other art and that is a Nazis mentality, and i think its pretty upsetting that we just accept it
I really wish Twitch's UI & system for creating and managing clips was much more streamlined because I find it annoying enough trying to just make one clip. Let alone doing clips for a whole stream. The fact that it opens a separate awkward UI tab and it won't reliably "allow you" to have a good starting position for the clip. The fact you have to go to your own dashboard in order to manage clips you've made. The fact that it *seems to create a clip anyways regardless* even when you don't actually click to submit the clip, so if you have to refresh to get a good start & end point you'll often end up with a bunch of garbage scrap clips that you don't want. Plus Twitch does not support going back on live broadcasts so of course *good luck* getting any of that to work perfectly first-try on an actual live stream. Otherwise I'd gladly help with the bountiful clip fruit harvest.
Odd how you chose to write it in here, but I'll aid you for your request: *Upgrav* : _Creates a rectangular, purple field that continually pushes anything inside of it upwards in a zero-gravitational field._ Hope this helped!
The fruit level opening art is actually hilarious
