It goes a little deeper than that (even if the pun is indeed intended)... In the original Polyphemos was given a prophecy by Telemus that he will be blinded by a man named Odysseus ... but the giant is blinded by his own might and only laughs about this warning (In Homers version he expects a huge, strong giant like himself). This is a callback to this prophecy, a reminder that he indeed is Polyphemos' darkest moment... BUT this is also one of Odysseus darker moments since he foolishly chose to spare his life. In the original it's almost mockery.
Sidefact: Ovid also created a love interest for Polyphemos and so he says to the seer “O most foolish of seers, you are wrong, another, a girl, has already taken it [his eye].”

@@oligb1469 No these are ACTUALLY other cyclops Odysseus’s second in command even said “there are more of them ?” Poseidon only appears in the song Ruthlessness at the third act I think though I get why you thought it was Poseidon there ARE other stories of this part of the odyssey that say it was Poseidon he was talking to just not in this musical (if you read this I hope it wasn’t too long and that it cleared things up I hope you didn’t take it personally have a good day 😊)

I felt more of a satisfied nod.
One of my favorite parts about this song is when the music stops and then Athena comes in with the “have you forgotten the lessons I taught you” with that big powerful voice. Like the way they did it makes it seem like she is above all of them which makes since considering she is a goddess.
Hearing this song I originally though that the Cyclops was letting Odysseus go by saying nobody but then I re-listened to the previous song and realized Odysseus told him his name was nobody that is a 1000iq move right there.
If only he didn't tell him his name later😭😭

@@boyalert2798 I mean... If you look at the Polyphemus' perspective, it is cruel. But by Odysseus' perspective it was his way to survive, by not giving his real identity. This move could have saved many of his men, had he not told Polyphemus his real name afterwards.

I couldn't decide in my head whether or not he said "infamous" or "I am named thus; Odysseus!" quoting straight from the poem
Something I noticed. Around 1:00 you can hear an electric guitar within the music. Remembering some of the tiktoks, that indicates a God/Godess is nearby then Athena shows up at the end. I love the detail in this musical ❤️
That last verse/chorus from Odysseus to the Cyclops might be a big mistake but holy shit it put the epic into EPIC

Lotus in the wine Lotus is a sleep/poisonous substance depends on the creature who gets it polihemus would sleep of it.
And that would be the biggest mistake Odysseus made. Athena did warn him.
