INTERNET TROLLS
Internet trolls are basically people who want to incite bad behaviors or for most of the time, violent behaviors for their own amusement. However, others perform these kinds of behavior to drive a specific agenda.
If you’re here right now, I supposed that you are already heavily immersed in the internet, and you probably seen or experienced an internet troll at some point in time. These people are intentionally enflaming others by rude, inflammatory and upsetting statements online to stimulate irrelevant strong emotional replies from targeted individuals, group or organizations.
Trolling is considered as a distinct form of bullying and harassment. It is usually not targeted towards an individual it provokes other people’s attention.
Trolling exists on various social media sites and online forums, but the most used platform are twitter, anonymous online forums and Facebook’s comment section. These people are using falsified accounts that are made solely for trolling.
Internet trolls can be easily identified: if the person is refusing to acknowledge evidences, off-topic, dismissive, and uses a fake account.
How do we handle them?
The most effective way to handle them is to not feed them. These trolls rarely get mad in a discussion, all they care is for people to get agitated by their remarks, by fighting and conversing with them they will only troll more because their main goal is to elicit emotional responses from people. If ever they get spammy in a thread or a website you could simply report it to the page’s moderation team, usually nothing really happens it depends on the website but you should do your part to contribute dissuade them from wreaking havoc in that platform
Time is the most important thing in a human’s life, it is limited and no one really will ever know when their time will stop. They are not worth your time and you will get nothing out of these trolls.
