Great video, Tim. :-) Certainly better in the footage department than my own "recorded on a potato" cam footage. :-)) Well done. I always love when more people enjoy this particular line.
Thank you, I'm gad you enjoyed the ride, it's a beautiful part of the world. I didn't know this railway existed until I toured Slovakia by rail, it is a real gem, I hope people will be inspired to visit as a result of seeing some of my videos :-)
Ha Tim.leuke video van die tandrat baan.lijkt wel een beetje op dat 3 rail systeem van Trix Exspres 1:87 H0. mooie video weer.hartelijk bedankt en een heel mooi weekend,en proost.
Beautiful forest wonderful journey thanks tim,How many metres doe's the line rise and do they disengage the cog wheel on the way down,It's really starting to heat up in oz cheer's bob.
Hi Bob, sorry to hear you are suffering near perfect weather down under, its cold and a bit damp here now that Autumn has set in. The height difference is 444 m (1,457 ft) and the cog stays engaged throughout the journey in both directions, acting as a brake on the way down. For more information please click on this link - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%A0trbsk%C3%A9_Pleso%E2%80%93%C5%A0trba_rack_railway Enjoy the warm weather. Tim.
Hi, I'm pleased you enjoyed it. I have some more cab rides to upload from this tour around Slovakia and one or two from Australia. It's getting more difficult to shoot cab rides these days, due to the rise and rise of the Health and Safety culture in railway management.
That's another picturesque ride, and I'm always interested to see rack/cog railways. I think the interlinking of rails are very interesting. I can't help wondering what those Z-like symbols are on the signs next to the railway. I'm sure they don't mean "it's all downhill from here so we can go to sleep, Zzz" ;)
Hi, I'm glad you enjoyed the scenery from this delightful little train. I find the switches and points on rack railways interesting too, the rack rail makes life a lot more difficult and I like your explanation for the Z :-)
Z means "Začiatok" (Beginning) and K "Koniec" (End). These signs usually refer to temporary warnings/restrictions, which are specified in the paperwork the train driver gets before the ride.
Gee, Tim. You really got your money's worth out of that Slovakia trip! How much more material on Slovakia have you got stowed away? Cheers! Great video, by the way!
