The fish traps do catch fish. It's tricky to target the fish inside if you haven't used the construction hammer to lock the trap in place though. Because you get the highlight of the trap to pick it up and it's very difficult to see or target the fish. It's way faster to just use the fishing pole if you really want to catch fish though.
The only real benefit I've seen for the fish traps is if you're trying for the mini game to get the best fishing pole. I can't remember what the fish is called but it's the one you need to advance to the tier 3 fishing pole. It seems impossible to catch with a tier 2 pole, but I've gotten it in a fish trap more than once.
Talking about making moonshine in Hydroneer, I was thinking the same thing, either growing cannabis or distilling shine. Mod in some actual survival aspects lol.

The steam means that you're hitting the max pressure of the steel pipe so some pressure is being wasted.
When in “hell mouth” near the big anvil there are conveyers that will take whatever you put into it up to the top. There is a drop zone to the right of the entrance so no need to run back and forth.
You can't add anything to pans or buckets if they're in the back of the tractor, it defaults to being added to the tractor.
There's a place to the left of the mega anvil, where you can drop things, and they get transported to the surface, in the loading zone to the right of the doorway outside.
If you place a conveyor belt one block above where you want it to drop items onto, the items will go just a little further over the edge, usually falling/landing directly down the center of a block space.
The conveyor splitters are significantly superior to the hand sorters and don't launch things.
Purchasing one of the other tractors is actually worth it, they have twice the top speed, acceleration, and other stats, than the one given to you at the start.
Wheelbarrows are phenomenal at transporting pipes. Objects noclip through each other when stored in a wheelbarrow, similar to the tractor. They don't create lag like the tractor does, unless you move them. And you can sort each pipe segment type between different wheelbarrows. Just a little trick someone showed me. Also, NEVER use the pallet. It makes grabbing things really buggy.

Yes everyone has problems with the hand sorters but I don't think I've seen that anyone else has figured out that you can put multiple items on top to tell it what to sort.
And they could make a moonshine making element to Hydroneer since many of the components aren't very different

You should save all your Iron. You need 300 kg iron for one T1 drill.
You Can cut a hot métal bar to get two métal bar to creat somthing you Can melt a a few métal bar in the chaudron to combine them for thé good weight
The steam at ther pipes is to indicate that there is a loss of pressure, steal pipes top out at 178%. So when the water hits that point the pressure drops from 242.5% to 180%.
Also water does not flow past damaged filters, so there is no need to turn off the water when the first one breaks. (well ATM)
I have recently come back to playing Hydroneer and it's 2.0 update. The sorter is new to me and after using it a couple of times it is so not worth the time and effort, it's faster and cheaper just to push through till you can buy belts and sorter belts.
iron max pipe pressure is 180 and cloutium is 380 so a standard cloutium intake is too much ofr iron to cope with.. this is why u would have boosters on iron so it boosts to its top level
Side note ur gona be addig boosters to a cloutium pipe that u dot need to until u have a t2 drill. T1 drill caps out at their pressure which is 180, all u will do is have pipes with lots of pressure that arnt doing anything for your drill
also DONT SELL CLOUTIUM you will need it
Steam in the pipes means the pipe can't handle the pressure. Cloutium intake pushes 250 pressure but iron pipes cap at 180. You can get a gauge to measure that if you want. I wonder what's the cap for the cloutium pipes though... :P
The booster can boost any pressure to the same one from the intake, even if the pressure is zero, but iron boosters always cap at 180 too so using cloutium intake might not be economical.
Extend Everything out by one or two piles out because the conveyor attachments to center items on the conveyor would help your problem with the hand sorter or just use the sorter conveyor
There's a conveyor attachment that centers all your stuff. So they no longer go to the sides
You can also put like 4 filers on one pipe to save some space my guy
They'll degrade much faster afaik.

Hey man love the video but skip the hand sorters and go right for the belt ones, I did one for iron, one for gold, one for cloutium and crystal shards, and one for all the gems

Definitely skip the hand sorters. One is okay in the very beginning if all you've got is a couple of pipes and you're still hand shoveling and scrubbing. But I don't even bother trying to automate until I've got enough coin to afford a conveyor splitter/funnel/smelter for each ore type. It's less about the functionality really. Because you can set up hand sorters so that they function perfectly well with small quantities. The problem is that when you pick up a pan containing absurd amounts of resources and/or dump that pan it creates crazy amounts of lag and the physics go insane.
Instead of doing sorters for the gems have a gem polisher on your end conveyor and just let the end of your conveyor run dump all the gems into a gem compressor. When you're done with a run and ready to do a cleanout hit the lever on the gem compressor and it will smash all those tiny gems into one massive one of each type. It's essentially like smelting ores but for gems. Using those big gems to make jewelry increases their selling price exponentially.
This game needs a lot of grind and patience.. I really enjoy watching the videos on it. Not gonna play it cause I have a ton of things I need to do irl 😅😅
It really doesn't take that much grinding. The very beginning when you're hand digging is a little tedious, but once you've got enough coin to buy the drill and harvester it really starts ramping up quickly if you know what you're doing.
The key is to understand all the items that are in the game and know which ones help you increase your efficiency the most at a given stage of the game.
Oh anybody who sees this you don't have to put the filter add-ons on different pipes you can have 4 filters on 1 pipe
I've been watching a bunch of videos and there's not a lot of people that turn icehelm into an actual factory. Feels like a good opportunity being put to waste lol
It's a quirky place to try to build a real setup. It's "depth" goes horizontally rather than vertically. So you can't just dig a hole to put your drill in and run a conveyor up to the surface where you have plenty of room to build the rest of your infrastructure. And even if you dig out the entire area the amount of space you have to build in is fairly limited.
It's also somewhat inconvenient unless you're already fairly well established since you have to run all the way to the main town to get to a sell point.

At this point your better off using the conveyor sorter.. the hand sorter is nice but it's a little bit extreme... Also to get the best pressure just get cloutium booster right before the machines.. as of right now you only need the cloutium intake, boosters and the cloutium pipe to the machine

It don't matter to do any more pipes except the first because the T1 drill and harvester will not run any higher then 178
Same with the boosters no need in building them till you run T2

Using a cloutium pipe system means you're starting at a way higher pressure. That means you can do longer runs to your machines without needing as many boosters.
Plus if you're using cloutium now it's just that much less pipe you're going to need to buy when you're ready for the T2 equipment.
