I think the product is better as a second step to your skin care routine. Like use your normal cleanser then use this product to take off anything that is left behind.
I really love this product! I also use the blue loreal micellar. I dont wear foundation, i usually just do my eyebrows and eyeliner. I use this all over my face and it TREMENDOUSLY helped my acne
Thank you for being honest. I've seen 2 you tubers so far and they have claimed that it's great at removing ALL make up! I know that I can always count on your reviews and as a viewer, I really appreciate that!
I have to agree. This does not remove makeup well at all but it's great on bare skin. I love to use it to cleanse my skin at night if I've just been at home all day with no makeup on. It makes my skin feel fresh and clean but not dry at all.
This Micellar water is sooooo great!! It gets off your foundation and lip products very well as a makeup remover, but of course you'll definitely need to wash your face with a cleanser afterwards to get that DEEP and thorough clean. As for waterproof eye makeup, no. This does not get it all off.
I use this every night to remove my makeup & waterproof mascara & I absolutely love it! Leaves my skin feeling refreshed & hydrated. Also been using it for a month with no breakouts.
I use this instead of washing my face with a normal cleanser and it works wonders for me! I am VERY acne prone and my skin is almost completely clear. Instead of using it to take your makeup off, it's really more to cleanse. I use coconut oil to take my make up off and then this cleanses.
I don't wash my face in the morning, I just use a warm washcloth before my morning skincare, so this might be a good thing for me to try. I have dry, aging skin, so this stuff might be more hydrating than just a washcloth. Thanks for the review!~Carla
I always remove my makeup with a makeup wipe at night. I prefer to then go to the sink and use a traditional cleanser to really clean my skin. On nights when I'm too tired to bother with that I would use astringent (and still do occasionally) but I do like this product in place of that. It gets rid of the makeup that makeup wipes leave but doesn't dry your skin out like some astringents and toners can.
I love micellar waters for the following purposes 1. The morning (or night if i didn't wear any makeup that day) 2. After using my cleanser, especially behind the ears and my neck 3. As a spot cleaner for my brushes I haven't tried this one (I use the sephora one) but i can't wait to buy it!
I always know that I can put 100% faith in your reviews. The reasons for this include 1. I know you are knowledgable about cosmetics and you're thorough in your examinations of each product and 2. I know you're 100% honest and not bought out by companies. I've seen so many gurus advertising this product claiming it was some kind of instant makeup removal godsend (cough cough Ingrid) and I almost purchased it for that purpose, UNTIL of course I read the fine print where it showed that the video was sponsored. Thank you for continuing to be such a reliable source for reviews, I really appreciate that you care to educate us honestly about each product so we can spend our money wisely rather than spew us ads so we waste money to ensure that you gain it. Thank you so much Emily!
The first few minutes of the video answered my question. I'll stick with Bioderma. I purchased two bottles while in Canada in September 2014 and have only used half of one. One pad, one squirt of product and all makeup is removed including waterproof mascara. Usually purchase Bioderma from Amazon.
A few years ago I realized I didn't have to wash my face with water and cleansers. If I'm wearing makeup, I first use a makeup remover cloth, then I use Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel. I use only the witch hazel if I'm not wearing makeup. My skin looks great, probably better than when I was washing it every night in the sink. I added Simple Micellar water to my routine about a month ago, and use it before the witch hazel. It's wonderful and leaves my skin feeling so refreshed! Witch hazel is incredible for your skin, by the way. It soothes the skin, reduces puffiness around the eyes, reduces redness, and it's a mild astringent. Thayers Rose witch hazel is the best. It doesn't contain alcohol and it smells divine.
Use it to spot clean your eye brushes between deep cleaning. I put some in a spray bottle and use exfoliating pads to swirl it on. For dark colors you may have to do it a couple times, but using a sprayer you use less. For my face, I prefer the Boots Botanics that you can get at target.
I love using this product first thing in the morning. I also use it after cleaning with Cetaphil Cleanser as post-wash toner. Another use, it is very refreshing any time my skin feels dry.
I never liked wipes until I found the Ole Henriksen truth to go wipes, they are amazing and they don't leave any residue, they are nicely scented and very gentle around the eye area.
It is also incredibly effective at cleanly removing eye-shadow fall out from around the eye area. I usually saturate a q-tip to clean up the edges of my make up or to remove mascara and eye-shadow smudges!
Thanks for your review. I've been curious about it for ages, but I think I will skip this product. I use Dickinson's sensitive skin witch hazel in the mornings when I am not using prescription acne creams instead of washing my face. It seems to do a better job than washing my face and it's more gentle than even my gentle cleanser. I also use it as a midday refresh in the hot weather when I can't be bothered to wear any face makeup.
Thanks for sharing! I'm a little bit scared of simple skincare now, I have in the past purchased the moisturizer claimed to be for sensitive skin but it BURNED my face...just scared if this will do the same...but I heard so many good things about this product...will give it a shot! I also like the sephora cleansing water and bioderma...both of them are super effective in getting off heavy-duty makeup!
I use micellar water in the morning and after I cleanse my face with the oil or gel in the evening. I haven't tried this one but I really like Bioderma and Garnier micellar water. Definitely will pick this one up once out :)
Interesting.... Not sure this is for me. I'm so glad I watched this because I almost bought some to try it but now that I know how it works best I think I'll skip it. I have to get my face wet in the AM. I looked tired if I don't. Thanks so much Emily. Very thorough as always. Xo Linda
YOU NEED TO TRY BIODERMA CLEANSING WATER. HANDS DOWN THE BEST!!! In Canada where I work, we sell all the product that's on the shelf, every single day.
I use Simple, Bioderma & the Sephora Micellar water and I use 3 large cotton rounds to remove my full face and eye makeup..this one from simple isn't my favorite but it works for me beautifully. I hold it to my eye like I would any remover products..my skin feels so hydrated when I use Micellar waters though..Vichy sells one as well.
I've found that the Rimel "Just Let It Go" eye makeup remover is great! I use it for my face too even though it's for the eyes! And it really does a good job of removing my thick foundation application as well as the smokey eyes I like to wear often lol
I'm so glad the drugstore is coming out with micellar waters! I feel like another use for these are for face makeup removal prior to a cleanser! But I will totally try as a morning cleanser now!
I have been using the Simple Micellar (spelling?) water for about a month now, it's VERY similar to the Sephora brand and Koh Gen D cleansing water that I've used for yearssss to remove my makeup at night (with the same exact large oval cotton pads you referred to) and they do a really good job of removing all my makeup. I saturate the cotton pad, fold it over and squeeze the product through so both sides are wet. I use the exfoliating side to remove my face makeup and the back/smooth side to do my eyes, I fold it in half and hold the pad on each eye for about 30 seconds and it really gets everything off. Then I go on and cleanse my face (or exfoliate/do a mask, I rotate every night between basic cleanser, exfoliater and mask). I'm very impressed with the Simple brand, and I'm very pleased to have found a cheaper alternative! But like you said, skin care is so personal! I could NEVER just use a cleansing water to clean my face in the morning, I would be breaking out SO bad within a few days!!
Great review as always, I was on the fence about this product and still not sure, but I like the idea of a quick morning cleansing, as you suggested so that may be something to consider. Thanks!
I think it might be great for summer when I'm quickly sweaty/greasy/oily but don't want to wash my face 4 + times a day. It seems like it won't be too harsh to use to freshen up.
Try the bioderma version of this. I have struggled to find an eye makeup remover for years that doesn't irritate me or leave that greasy residue on my face. Bioderma gets everything off and even with a toner after, there's nothing on the pad :) Safe to say it's a holy grail for me now. I clicked this hoping the Simple one would be a dupe, but it doesn't sound like it :(
Love this stuff! Been using this about a month or two and I've since bought several more products from the Simple skin care line. I tried that once with a full face makeup too. Took forever to get off. Now I just use the Simple face wash and then go behind it with this. I also use this in the morning. My skin has been really healthy looking and it's helped even out my skin tone. Definitely will be repurchasing this very soon. :)
I use a makeup wipe at night to get most of my makeup off, but I find this to be great for removing eye makeup and for getting the last remnants of my face makeup off. It removes my mascara and eyeliner better than all my other eye makeup removers.
I have been using vasoline to remove my eye makeup since grade school. Takes off even waterproof mascara and hydrates and moisturizes your eyes at the same time. You Don't need an expensive makeup remover. And to clean my face,I use a moisturizing soap to remove the rest of my makeup. Simple and inexpensive.
uglybaddoll I too have been removing my eye makeup with Vaseline since high school after seeing a friend and her mother doing so. And her mother had no wrinkles around the eyes and she always swore by the Vaseline! I have tried many things and just always go back to Vaseline! It removes every last bit of makeup and doesn't tug on my delicate under eye area! And I normally have very dry under eyes so this also helps with moisture. This is one of my beauty secrets I swear by!
I just use a makeup wipe to remove it and it literally takes off even the most stubborn eye makeup. I understand this isn't for everyone, I see the yuck comment above, but honestly it works for me I swear by this. And if the thought of this all the time isn't for you every day, I at least recommend this for super stubborn eye makeup like mascaras that don't budge. It really removes everything.
I literally just rub it on my eyes until I feel all the makeup has broken down and I look like a racoon lol and then it only takes me one wipe to remove all the gunk. I have no wrinkles around my eyes and never lose lashes.
I use this on Saturday or Sunday morning when I need a quick cleansing. I also like it on a Qtip or a cotton pad to clean fall out before applying foundstion. Or, just to refresh mid day if I don't have any makeup on. Another thing I LOVE this for is for a light hydration / cleansing after really cleansing or before applying makeup. Don't waste $$ on. Bioderma, this is cheap & just as good!
I totally agree with everything you said Emily. No with a full face of makeup but it is what I have also using in the morning. I also use it after I use a cleansing oil or balm. After those products, I always feel like there is residue on my eyes and I use this after and the residue is gone. Thanks for sharing!
I agree with everything you said for this type of product. This sound like it works just like Bioderma, which I've used for years. I tend to use it in the morning for any eye makeup residue left behind. I like that it doesn't irritate or leave behind a film. Thanks for the review! I've been seeing this everywhere lately and I was curious to know if I should try it when my Bioderma runs out. :)
I started using this as a makeup remover around two weeks ago and it gets everything off, even the they'real mascara, stila and kat von d liquid liners too! So surprised it did not work for you! Buy I always need to wash my face with my cetaphil cleanser.
I "discovered" a great makeup remover at Target. It is the No. 7 melting gel cleanser. It is only 8.50 and it works just as one of the others gel to oil to cream cleanser from Sephora (algenist, nude). It removes my waterproof mascara completely. They also have the Balm version for drier skin. You would use it as you use a regular cleansing oil. You should give it a try! :)
I had the same experience as you.. It did not take off my makeup.. however, just like you - I found it to be a nice, gentle cleansing agent for in the morning.. I am not sure if I will re-purchase though..
I used the blue Bioderma for months and it was better at make-up removal, but you're so right about the hydration with this one! I purchased it to clear up an eye-area infection and it did that like a dream, but I still love it for getting that last bit of grime off after cleaning. I love how gentle it is!
I love this stuff. I use the one for dry/dehydrated skin. I use it in the A.M. for a quick rinse and at night after I wash my face as a toner then my night creams etc
Finally, an honest review about this product (which I've been so curious about)! Thanks, Emily! I like the idea of using this to clean my face in the morning...no more splashing my face and getting water everywhere! :)
I bought this on a whim after hearing Ingrid talk about it, and I really like it. I use it after using a makeup towelette to get rid of any cosmetics left behind, and I found that it works pretty well like that. Thanks for the review! xx
I've been using this for a couple months now in the exact same way as a morning cleanser and absolutely love it! I have two kids and am usually holding a baby when I have to get ready fast and this is just so quick and perfect. Great review!
I use the Simple Micellar Water at night. First I put it on a cotton round then let it sit on my eyes for about 15- 20 seconds and wipe off my eye makeup. I use probably three cotton small cotton rounds each night. I do follow up after with a wet cleansing wipe, then a toner. My skin is clean when I am done. I don't use water on my face at night when I cleanse or it will wake me up. I use a cleansing water pretty much every night. Boots No7 has a good one and so does Sephora - Triple Action Cleansing Water. I have done like you and use it in the morning. It leaves your skin feeling fresh, smooth and ready for serums or moisturizers. I am sold on cleansing waters. Take care and have a great day Emily!!!
Hi, Can men use this and is it effective for men? What should I do? Is there a better product with no alcohol and parabens in it that you would recommend?
i can honestly say that i didn't find much out of this product. although, i mainly bought it for when i go into labor in early june.. i figured it'd be easier & feel better than baby wipes or makeup remover on my face. i thought it smelled like dirt
I use it for my initial cleansing and go in with an actual cleaner afterward to really clean my skin. I couldnt use just this, but it is cooling and refreshing.
I just started using this a few days ago. I use a makeup wipe first then use it to remove what the wipe didn't. I don't usually wear a full coverage foundation, usually just a light coverage one or a BB cream. It really shocked me at first how much makeup the wipe left behind. Anyway, so far I like it.
I love the Simple products but I also have been an Equate/Olay Daily facial cloth user for years. I just like suds and water and haven't found anything that takes make up off better than that. I will give this a try for morning. Sometimes full on suds in the morning is too harsh.
I jumped on the Bioderma Sensibo train about 6 months ago and honestly it's as good as everyone says. It removes my eye makeup better than any other makeup remover I've ever used. It takes off Estee Lauder double wear with 1 swipe. Honestly it's worth trying, especially since this one didn't even remove makeup. You can order it through Beautylish in the US now.
i saw another youtuber removing her makeup with this product and i thought this product is a little too gentle, i use the loreal water makeup remover and work just fine :)!! im looking forward to use the equates facial cloths!! you already made me buy lots of products.
Washing with CeraVe Foaming Cleanser will take off my eye makeup and clean my face. I like the Hydrating Cleanser too, but I don't know how thorough it is with full coverage foundation. I keep both on hand for my combination skin. I have not been wearing full coverage foundation, but tinted moisturizer and powder foundation.
I was using the Caudalie makeup remover cleansing water, but found I was going through it too quickly for the price ($14 for 3.38oz) and I didn't care for the scent. I decided to give the Simple one a try ($6.99 for 6.7 oz). I use both the same way. I first take off my eyeliner with the Koh Gen Doh cleansing water, then I put the Simple micellar water on a cotton pad and wipe over my entire face. Then I wash my face with Cera Ve cleanser. I think the Simple water is a perfectly fine replacement for the Caudalie, and both work well as a pre-cleansing step. However, if I were trying to use it alone as a makeup remover, it wouldn't do the trick.
Totes agree! I wanted to compare this to the Garnier micellar water - that one actually gets all my makeup off and is actually cheaper. Here it's $12 for 400ml, and the simple one is $10 for 200ml (I live in new zealand), so I've started using the simple one in the morning. But totes give the garnier one a go if you haven't xox
Have you tried Bioderma? It is the original Micellar Water. It is a product that originates from beauty pharmacies in France but, as of recently, you can buy it in the US on Beautylish.com. It really removes makeup absolutely flawlessly and your skin feels so nice you don't need to rinse afterwards. This Simple product is probably acting as a dupe for the Bioderma product because it's become such a popular product, especially heavily raved about on UA-cam.
I had a similar experience as you and find it useless as a makeup remover. Bioderma does a much better job at that. But, what I've been using it for is to clean up eyeshadow fallout. In my opinion, it's not good for much else. :/
First I remove my makeup by applying cleansing milk all over my face then wiping off with cleansing wipes..then I take a cotton pad n remove all the left over residue with Simple miceller water..after that I wash my face with a regular cleanser...
You should try Garnier, Loreal and Lancome Micellar water for remove make up. I have tried all of them. They are really good. Take every bits of my makeup off. :)
I love this product, but I use it after cleansing with an oil cleanser. Its amazing what is left behind after using one of those products. I can't believe how much gunk is left on the cotton pad.
Hi Emily! Greetings from Southamerica!😊 have you triyed L'oreals Micelar Water? I really love it and it really works for me! Even removes perfectly a watwrproof mascara from KIKO that I have with one or two pads!!!!.... I know the products that arrive here are not completly the same but I think maybe in the USA have to be better... Your channel IS amazing! Keep doing it! Thank you for all the advices!!!😘
I've been using this for almost 2 weeks now and I just use the Simple Micellar water to remove my eye makeup in the evening - I use one of those oval cotton pads that you mentioned for each eye - it takes the eye makeup off wonderfully! And then I use my regular facial cleanser to wash my face makeup off.
can u look into reviewing the ENJO make up removing pad all u need is water to take off eye make up ive had mine for a month or so now and interested on your thoughts
I use Bioderma, but not as a removal agent. With a full face of make-up I use Clinique's Take the Day Off Balm - twice. I may use a moist cleansing towelette to start removal but always end up with a balm to thoroughly cleanse. I will use the Bioderma as final cleansing agent for eyes, even though I've used eye make up remover... but on its own, it's not enough for me. Neither is a cleansing towelette (moist) so I always use a multitude of products for removal and cleansing, which I look at as 2 different steps. Thanks for the video review. Very good and informative.
I love the Simple Micellar Water, I use it after my Neutrogena Face Wipes when I'm being lazy about washing my face and it's great! I also use two round pads but I'm always shocked by how much my Neutrogena face wipes leave behind and but feel like this gets the rest.
I'm totally w ya.Great for morning or for minimal makeup removal BUT my skin has improved alot since using it.So like you I do it in the morning or after my cleanser and clarisonic at night. For 5.38 it's worth it plus I had a 2.00 off coupon!
I remove my makeup with coconut oil (in the bathroom), wash my face with an SLS free face wash. After patting dry, I use the Simple Micellar Cleansing water to remove any residue makeup on my face and eyes. I also use it as a face cleanser and I love it because it does a fantastic job without irritating my eyes or skin. I would definitely recommend the Simple Micellar Cleansing water for anyone who has sensitive skin like me. Although, I have two different botle designs of the same product, my bottles are different from the one that you have here. This is the best face cleanser I have tried tbh...
I love this product! I use it at night just to take off my eye makeup…which is VERY minimal, some days it's just mascara, but I think it works great for that. Probably not for waterproof eyeliner or something like that. I also use it for mistakes…I seem to always get mascara on my eyelids. I'll take a Qtip and get a little of this stuff on the tip and it easily takes off my mistake without ruining everything else.
I received their makeup remover wipes in my Walmart Beauty Box, and they are amazing. It removed my makeup, even waterproof eyeliner, and it didn't have a residue like other ones I've used like the Neutrogena or Elf makeup remover wipes. Maybe you should give those a try instead. :D
I haven't used this particular product, but I have the Bioderma Crealine H2O. I saturate my cotton round and hold it against my eyes for about 10 seconds or so, then wipe away. It really does help to remove my eye makeup, you just have to let it soak into the makeup for a bit.
I think the product is better as a second step to your skin care routine. Like use your normal cleanser then use this product to take off anything that is left behind.
I agree, that's how I've been using it and I really like it!
Me too :)
Exactly! I do that as well
Yep that's how I use it.
stephanie s I do the opposite haha. I use the cleansing water first and then go in with cleanser.
I really love this product! I also use the blue loreal micellar. I dont wear foundation, i usually just do my eyebrows and eyeliner. I use this all over my face and it TREMENDOUSLY helped my acne

I have to agree. This does not remove makeup well at all but it's great on bare skin. I love to use it to cleanse my skin at night if I've just been at home all day with no makeup on. It makes my skin feel fresh and clean but not dry at all.

I use this every night to remove my makeup & waterproof mascara & I absolutely love it! Leaves my skin feeling refreshed & hydrated. Also been using it for a month with no breakouts.
I love the Garnier version! It gets everything off. It's even good for spot-cleaning your brushes.

I like the idea of a morning cleanser but I've been using it about a month for nighttime removal and it works great for me.
Yes you're wearing Colourpop products!! Do I see a review in the future?😉😄
yes! I think it'll be a haul & reviews! :D
Beauty Broadcast Express looking forward to your review of Colourpop cosmetics. THANKS!

Im currently using this product and it works better on cleansing cloth than the cotton pad

Mine actually removes all my makeup! It easy for me. Maybe it's because, I wear light/medium makeup, and I only need a small Cotten pad.
Obviously
Love this stuff! Been using this about a month or two and I've since bought several more products from the Simple skin care line.
I tried that once with a full face makeup too. Took forever to get off. Now I just use the Simple face wash and then go behind it with this. I also use this in the morning. My skin has been really healthy looking and it's helped even out my skin tone.
Definitely will be repurchasing this very soon. :)
I will say I love this for late nights when I'm too lazy to wash my face :)
Vasoline/Petroleum? YUCK!!
What do you use to wipe the vaseline? I might give this a go :)
I love this stuff!...i use it as a first step cleansing....than use a cleanser...than this water again....followed by moisturizer or serum!!!
I only use it to cleanse on days I don't wear makeup...a few days a week. Not as drying as tap water.
I use the moisturizer & cleansing cloths & love it!! Great review!
Can you use this product before you put on foundation? Hydrate the skin before foundation application?
I "discovered" a great makeup remover at Target. It is the No. 7 melting gel cleanser. It is only 8.50 and it works just as one of the others gel to oil to cream cleanser from Sephora (algenist, nude). It removes my waterproof mascara completely. They also have the Balm version for drier skin. You would use it as you use a regular cleansing oil. You should give it a try! :)
I love micellar water but I find it best to use after using makeup remover wipes. It gets off everything the wipe doesn't.
Simple products I've tried were not effective ended up in the trash 🌟
I had the same experience as you.. It did not take off my makeup.. however, just like you - I found it to be a nice, gentle cleansing agent for in the morning.. I am not sure if I will re-purchase though..
I used the blue Bioderma for months and it was better at make-up removal, but you're so right about the hydration with this one! I purchased it to clear up an eye-area infection and it did that like a dream, but I still love it for getting that last bit of grime off after cleaning. I love how gentle it is!
Bioderma water the BEST I EVER TRIED!!!! I have this, NO COMPARARRISON!
Is there a better product with no alcohol and parabens in it that you would recommend?
yes you can. men can use any product because skin is skin
This was so informative and good to know. Thanks Emily. ♥ Elle
i can honestly say that i didn't find much out of this product. although, i mainly bought it for when i go into labor in early june.. i figured it'd be easier & feel better than baby wipes or makeup remover on my face. i thought it smelled like dirt
I just got it and it works for me because I use a very small amount of makeup. I dont use eyeshadow
Love you videos. I've been looking for a morning cleanser. This sounds perfect.
You can order it through Beautylish in the US now.
i saw another youtuber removing her makeup with this product and i thought this product is a little too gentle, i use the loreal water makeup remover and work just fine :)!! im looking forward to use the equates facial cloths!! you already made me buy lots of products.
i use it for my mascara and i love it
Washing with CeraVe Foaming Cleanser will take off my eye makeup and clean my face.
This Simple product is probably acting as a dupe for the Bioderma product because it's become such a popular product, especially heavily raved about on UA-cam.
im absolutely obsessed with this stuff! works soooo well! xo from my beauty channel to your's
I love thiss!!! I feel my skin has really been looking so much better since I started using it! Gentle and amazing!
I had a similar experience as you and find it useless as a makeup remover. Bioderma does a much better job at that. But, what I've been using it for is to clean up eyeshadow fallout. In my opinion, it's not good for much else. :/
That's exactly how I use this product! It's really refreshing to my skin and balances everything :)
You should try the Garnier micellar water!!! It's the first drugstore one I saw in Mexico and it's really good!
I love this product, but I use it after cleansing with an oil cleanser. Its amazing what is left behind after using one of those products. I can't believe how much gunk is left on the cotton pad.
I have break outs from using simple wipes and cleansers. I wonder if this water will break me out also?!
Emily, I just wanted to know of you had tried elf's new skincare line or any of their new products they just released. Thanks!
I had the same experience with Bioderma H2O, was not really effective with makeup but good as a toner or cleanser
Im not a huge fan of the product.
can u look into reviewing the ENJO make up removing pad all u need is water to take off eye make up ive had mine for a month or so now and interested on your thoughts
Yes! Always some eye-makeup left in the morning.
Emily! Do you still use fake tan? Can u do a update on any fake tan products?
Hi Emily! Can you do an express review on the Tarte waterproof 12 hour stick concealer? Thanks and P.S love you and your videos!!
