Sir , as far as EV’s we should consider 30% less than what they advertise. I own a MG ZS which has done 23k kms. It gives me around 325kms. But I know they will advertise it as 461kms range which is not possible in practical use. I knew it before buying it.
It is shame on people who trust and take decisions based on advertised values. It is applicable to all products. Just like mobile one day battery life means 10 hours
My suggestion would be don't take EVs at this much cost for the next 5 years.... cz I personally felt a bad experience with EVs when I planned for a long family trip. If we think the charging station will be a lot in upcoming years, just think practically by the time our car will become old or we may get bored with it or we may feel to sell the car or upgrade it,, so do not think of the future and go for EV,, live the present which will give u more confident,, either petrol or diesel is best one.. cz our every penny is gold for us... sharing this as just a suggestion, not an offense......
I am using EV scooter past two years. We have too much dependency on service. For example to change rear tyre i have to wait and get it done. Current scenario as mentioned by user we need patience and plan. Better buy normal vehicle now
Availability and reliability of charging infrastructure is the biggest challenge in india. EV's are viable options for commercial vehicles for city commute due to low cost of running and maintenance.

Really appreciate you sir, in all the interview, people will buy EV by mistake and then justify, but you have justified and then you have bought EV with clear ideas. Happy motoring.
EV Cars are not actually cars, they are an apology for cars. Those who are well off with fairly high savings might like to try their luck with EV cars. Let's not confuse or rather get confused with all these pros and cons being discussed here because EV is not suited for Middle class/Upper middle class.
When I sold Ritz diesel because it crosses 14 years, I booked ec3 but they never delivered then I tested Nexon Max and Mahindra 400 . I booked Nexon but lot of friends advised it is not healthy time and cost is abnormal so it is second car for my wife now I possess Baleno automatic
my friend got it main issue is range and after 6 to 7 years we have to replace battery cost upto 5 lakhs what's use of ev.... Better opt for strong hybrid
I thank Mr.Birla for this wonderful opportunity and experience. From the range standpoint I would like to bring up a point for discussion. Car companies irrespective of petrol or diesel or ev dont give realistic numbers. Punch automatic has 18.8 kmpl as ARAI (37l full tank range is 695km). All that is possible in real world is 12kmpl (full tank range 444km) which my friend gets. 250km difference for just 1 person riding. Same will all car manufacturers. Why have we not felt cheated with this and why for EV cars this view point? Let's discuss.
Because of Few things. 1. Firstly I think For battery vehicles, range is everything. That's why you see every manufacturer advertises their range as a key highlight. If you take xuv400, Mahindra has even given the tag line as "one charge, multiple destinations" (did they actually mean multiple charging stations😂). You won't see mileage getting highlighted in a 20 lakh plus ICE car. Because mileage is the last thing ppl ll look for in 20 lak plus ICE car. 2. Secondly, If you go for a test drive for an ICE car and you enquire about the mileage, the sales reps clearly say that claimed mileage is 20 and actual mileage is 12 - 14. That's why I think ppl don't feel cheated wrt to ICE. This is purely to answer your why you don't feel cheated with ICE cars wrt mileage and am definitely not undermining the future of EVs.
@@muthu6223 The tag line is electrifying presence and say goodbye to range anxiety. When i went for test drive i was told i won't get 456km as the odo range displayed the same. The same was confirmed by the Mahindra person who called a week later. So i was informed before buying. Same is the case with everyone who took the test drive as the console displays it. Thanks for justifying my point that people have gotten used to lesser mileage coming out of ICE cars. I felt cheated with the petrol cars. Lot of people i know have sold their cars because they couldn't pay for fuel being consumed. I haven't said it's right for mentioning a different range on paper and getting different in real.
@girishmuthukumar1568 the tag line I mentioned is also of xuv400. Google search ll confirm it. May be they keep changing it. I don't know. But why highlight something so much when you have to put "conditions apply" tag right next to it. When apple says iPhone gives a day long battery, it indeed gives a day long battery. And there is nothing wrong in people expecting the same from the OEMs who highlights that RANGE as their primary feature. When not even half of it is achieved people are going to feel cheated. I have seen lot of videos where ppl complain about EV vehicles ranges and as i said range is more important in EV vehicles compared to mileage in ICE vehicles. Not everyone buys a car to travel only in City. No body wants to spend 6 hours or 8 hours in a charging station when you have ppl queued up before you for a charge and that too to get just another 240 odd kms. EVs need to rapidly improve before you see Indian middle class thronging towards it. All that goes now towards EVs are elite crowd who have other options to travel.
I think you just go from one topic to another. You mentioned that EV has cheated you. I have given clear example that ICE OEMs also equally cheat. You are advocating for them meaning you have come to acceptance with that as if it is nothing. I believe that says it all. You may be road trip person. My percentage of long trips is 20 percent of my total travel. I m worried on saving whatever i can for the 80%. Time will come when people affording to get petrol are actually the elite category. That time is not far away.🙂
I have never said EV cheated me because i don't own an EV vehicle. Please read your first comment where you have asked "why do we feel cheated with only EV". And that's exactly what I have been trying to reasoning out. When you can advocate for EV why I shouldn't advocate for ICE? And i have clearly stated reasons why. You just want to keep justifying your decision of moving to EV and you see some harsh comments here which irk you even more. You call for a discussion here but you don't seem to acknowledge the negatives that EVs have at the moment. That says it all as well. No point in having a discussion with you. You are so in to EV that you just want to convince yourself that you have made a good decision. Good for you.
With AC on and smooth driving in L mode only 200 km is coming as an range which is worst ... Also frequently the fan is getting on even the vehicle is in OFF condition.... I suggest not to go for this vehicle... Genuine user review.. dont go for this vehicle 😊
Ev car when we charge in station very ecnomic ok but what happens when charge in home for every 100 units slab rate will become high and more over 2 times EB charges has raised by government 🤔😭😭
EV can become successful and most preferred option if the car manufacturers standardize the batteries so that they can be used across vehicles across brands. Then, it can be changed instead of recharging at battery stations for a charge, there by avoiding the charging time delay and petrol bunks can be slowly replaced by the battery bunks
From XUV400 perspective on road, driving in rain is all not a problem as battery is water proof. Entire under body chasis is covered. Under the hood it is not advised to do pressure wash. Better to get that cleaned in the service center.

Since you have already told EV is just growing so the infrastructure is not upto the.mark now...But mostly the rich people buying EV because they can buy another if it is not comfortable but I think for middle class people or people buying via loan better not to go EV because resale value is very very less...Think about it..
@@chandhankumaAbsolutely no scope for resale only bro. Once the battery cost is almost equal to or greater than half the cost of car, nobody will dare to buy a used car and upgrade the battery. Unless the replaced battery again comes with 8 years of warranty which they won't for sure. Once the battery is gone, should be sold for scrap otherwise!
XUV400 is one of the worst EV. Many users are getting 200KM to 250KM range on full charge. Most owners felt cheated as they advertise as 450KM.
Yes
