Although this album came about from a dark period in Josh’s life. To me it’s hands down QOTSA’s greatest album. I think it’s one of if not the best line up the band has had. And Dave Grohl has been “in the band” for Songs for the deaf. So I don’t say that lightly
It’s insane to me people expect a man who’s well into being middle aged to ONLY make fast paced, punk rock tempo music like he did basically twenty years ago. I swear the older people get, the less perspective they get on time. I sometimes feel like 2012 was a couple years ago. When QOTSA started out, we all lived completely different lives so to expect someone that’s a true artist and an extreme talent to do the same thing for 20+ years is absurdly stupid and disrespectful to the band and Josh.
I know some longtime fans maybe butthurt that they went a little soft, but I love this sound. Probably more so than others, because I was only a casual fan before this album came out.
The Optimistic version of this song - (read bottom before commenting) I want God to come, and help us all, cause we’re not alone, in this in crowd Who are you to me, Who were supposed to be, It will come to us in a while, Sure as plain to see, you can follow thee, we can follow free, in style Yes everyone can all get this right We need more love Let’s get empathy here, to help cure the fear, The division that we feel Is real, To be positive, is needed where we live If we expect to truly change a thing Let’s hope the worst of all is far behind The vampire of greed and conquering, has thrived, We survived, we speak, we breath, We must defeat, Must rebel, we pray, For change again, Cause We need more love, Yes everyone can all get this right Yes everyone can all get this right We need more love, we need more love -what’s up people:) I’ve been making Call of Duty, Warzone parodies for about 6 months. Made a suicidal version of ABBA’s, Mama Mia and pissed off some dude name Sherman83. So I’ve decided to stick with optimistic stuff but that pissed off a couple people too. It’s not my intentions. My version is just for fun. The original song is a MASTERPIECE. every word. Truly. My version is just for fun. If you’re going through some bad shit, I hope you get through it ok. Positive energy, peace and blessings to you/everyone!
In case nobody has said this before. Probably the greatest QOTSA song ever. Josh knows it.
in the best album in my opinion, hope the next one is similar
I think Villains is ...Like Clockwork 2: a little bit happier
this and Fortress are my favorite
I think "I appear missing" is. But this one and "The Evil has landed" are like 1b and 1c for me :) all so incredibly great!
Not possibly- absolutely
Josh Homme isn't afraid of losing and that in itself is more rock'n'roll than doing the same thing over and over again.
and that's why this record is a breakthrogh. he changed the usual qotsa mood for songs and it's great.
I couldn’t agree more, it’s part of what makes him such a badass
Killer bass playing and back up vocals!
To be vulnerable is needed most of all of you intend to truly fall apart
The lyrics in this are so amazing
This album has grown on me so much. I think its got some of the best lyrical content I've heard in recent memory.
I am crying, this song is so powerful and moving. 😓
Long live Josh.
Cant get enough of listening to this song. True masterpiece.
i'm a longtime fan but i love this song too.
variety is what makes life worth living and makes me appreciate qotsa even more.
