  • On this video we look at a very interesting set from the early 1980s, this CB operates on a frequency of 934 Mhz FM but do people still use these radios in and amongst the wifi and mobile signals? you will be surprised.

It's a shame these weren't cheaper an more popular because it avoids all the messing about with huge antennas. Interesting vid as ever👍

Brilliant band, polite operators, no echo/power mics or messing around, range very good with colinears or Yagi beams. More users than 2 and 70 combined! Cybernet Delta 1 was the radio most used. Sadly the cost (£500 for a Commtel radio), was beyond the budget of most bods in the 80s, so it never became popular, and was withdrawn at the end of 1998. 934 channels still clear last time I listened! 😁

Very interesting, as, back in the day, I never knew anyone who owned a 934 Mhz rig, never saw one in reality (only in a mag), and never saw one on sale in a shop either. Nowadays though, I see them on eBay from time to time ... Anywayz, cheers for the show 'n' tell, it's much appreciated.

I love those radio`s! I have a Uniace dual band radio, need some work, but has a normal 27 mhz CB and the 934 band.

Is it a base radio or a mobile?

They give them a band and let them buy equipment then take the band off them. No wonder some people are using them after spending money on them.
I'd like to try 10 GHz but who says that won't be taken off us sometime.
    G4GHB.

Well done, never used one of those, I live in a Welsh Valley, my range is very limited whatever I use. Ken.

At that time, the sensitivity of one microvolt for 10-12 dB S + N / N in the 900 MHz band was considered the performance parameters of top devices.
    Devices at 450 MHz had a guaranteed sensitivity of about 0.7 - 0.5 S + N / N for 10/12 dB.
Great video, health for you :)

  • @MWOCQU
    @MWOCQU Рік тому +1

Reftecs used to drift like a high revving car with smoking tyres!! +/- 30KHz. was not uncommon during transmit. Remember the GSM signal on the lower channels is 200KHz wide and your receiving at about 12KHz. Bandwidth

reftec cb made in mildenhall suffolk i think they where deaf and i think they had 50 khz spacing channels the other radios were more sensitive made in japan maybe 25khz bandwith at this frequency sensitivity is everything i also have a mvt7100 scanner great bit of kit

I wonder if it feasible to modify these radios to the 902MHz to 928 MHz ham radio band

You are receiving a keep alive signal on channel 1 to 17 in most parts of the uk broadcast by o2, there are no modulation on the carrier because it is no longer used. I have somewhere a two page circuit of this

Probably not really a good idea using a 934mhz CB may attract unwanted attention
It’s one thing playing on 446 and the usual 11m pirate bands as your not likely to cause a problem but if you take out a cell on the phone network they might come mooching lol
I’ve been asked about 934mhz rig several times and your right there is a little bit of a sneaky following ost of the sets I’ve seen are the cybernet model the reftec seems the rare one

16:29. The Queen, A long funeral. Was nice though for what it was :)
Horrible boards, look homemade, not neat like normal CB you do. I had in the day, alinco DJ580 amatuer radio handheld that did 900Mhz and airband, some mod I think I not do as 2nd hand, was done. I listen to dodgy phone calls as well. The ruder the better, for the ones not watching properly will wonder what I am on about. Nice shorter antenna I guess, nicer for the car but less range maybe, buildings, things in the way not help.

Should be using a dummy load to test and not say dont tx and then do yourself when testing it and fixing it for someone to use illegally
