Why torture yourself? Twitter is one thing I certainly do not miss.
I completely understand why people find Twitter toxic, and it is, but to me, it's the least toxic social media. I find FB & IG more toxic, which is why I quit them years ago.

One reason could be being hobbyless and addicted to it. I say it because I was addicted to it. Fortunately, left it but couldn't kick it out completely so I read it via a read only platform.
@@Marksman_12bro i was so addicted to it i failed one of my college semesters. I think its the fact that the app is literally a toxic community mixed with literal porn, I wasn't aware of my addiction and how much damage ive done to myself until I started routinely staying up late.

The issue is that when Elon took over, he started allowing people to monetize the engagement they get from their tweets. And because negativity gets the most attention, the app filled immediately with accounts purposely saying the worst things possible so they could make as much money possible off each tweet. It makes the app unbearable

Facebook has become the same way. I am Old, I guess (I'm really only 35), and Facebook has remained my preferred social media site for lo these last, oh, seventeen years now, I suppose? I was never even interested in Twitter. But Facebook has steadily fallen victim to the exact same rage-bait algorithms that took over Twitter. I just want to see posts from my friends, but Facebook keeps serving me sponsored posts that are tailor-made to irritate you and get you angrily scrolling comments. It's a really unpleasant experience these days. Why did social media start trending this way? I mean, I know the why is money, but intentionally feeding your consumer base addictive poison strikes me as a weird move.

lol pretty much the only reason I still log in to twitter now and then is to see what my fave smut creators have been up to.
If you don't get angry, they don't get paid. It's built in to the business model.
Interacting makes you stay on the platform, and you mostly interact when you feel intensely about what you see

@@gsgaming6976 so true. For a time Twitter was really a unique experience. I remember the Arab Spring and how crazy is was to get so much info from the ground. There's still some of that on there from people in Gaza and Ukraine but most have moved to Telegram or w/e
i use twitter but the part that i engage with is honestly just a bunch of chill people who are just having fun with it
obviously i still see the tweets that get me upset every once in a while (usually incel men who are bullying women’s bodies) but i just ignore them and it’s pretty fun to be on

i didn't even get twitter until you-know-who took it over, and curiosity got the best of me. i wanted to see what was left of the dumpster fire. i wouldn't say it's a platform that makes me mad per se... but whenever i go on it for more than a couple minutes i start feeling a sense of doom that tells me it's time to take another long break lmao. they definitely know exactly what to show you to make you uncomfortable. at this point when i see some next level nonsensical take on twitter i just tell myself "well... it's twitter. what can i expect from the ppl left there? they're not the average person anyways" and then i go touch (or smoke) some grass

This was me the first time I ever used Twitter, which ended up being the last time as well.
I left Twitter 5 years ago and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made for my mental health. I’ve recently left Instagram as well, but I still plan to use it sometimes, I’m just trying to lower the time I spend there.
