Yooooo....this crowd was sooo unappreciative to the straight up mastery and skill and pure essence of life this man brings with his crew. They just..SAT there!!!! I would have lost my EVER LASTING MINNNNDDDD in this performance!
Roy Ayers must have been at his prime here! And this has to be without doubt, his best band to date! What a fine version of Everybody Loves The Sunshine. Pitty that the audience was not ready for the kind of greatness that stood before them on that day.
Sphiwe Mashaba, I am a musician, and I agree with everything that you said! I've not heard all of the bands and ensembles that Mr. Ayers has played with, but it's hard for me to imagine any of them sounding as good as this one here, b/c the arrangement, musicianship, and virtuosity on display her is off the chart! The band and Roy Ayres are maddeningly tight! 😁 In fact this is one of my favorite live performances of all time! All genres of music considered! Lastly, it's so sad that there are very few of today's band's showcasing this level of skill and musicianship. Maybe today's kids can watch this video to see how it's done! Peace✌️
so good to see Roy giving props to Miles Davis, because he so deeply deserves every bit! We live for Roy Ayres here in D.C. because he never forgets us when he's on tour! Thank you so much for this smoove, mellow version of my all-time favorite jazz anthem. I'm so feelin this ace interpretation.
The best guitarist I ever heard , and I'm 55 years old , and a musician ( which means I heard 'em all ) !!! And a gentleman ... nay ... a hero ... to boot ... It would seem the good ones go first , perhaps a form of divine mercy ?!?
I feel like this is definitively one of the greatest music tracks of all time. Those chords are beautiful. No wonder so many Deep House, Nu-Jazz, Hip Hop and Techno artists sample and are inspired by Roy Ayers and by extension, Miles Davis and other Jazz innovators. Truly incredible.
Thanks for uploading this! Yeah the '70's man, remember when this came out! This concert must been in the late nineties / early 2000's. Oh he did say that Miles had recently died & that was 1990 or '91.
You guys are right, that audience had no soul. Excellent performance. The bass player didn't miss a note. The guitar solo was nice too. I stumble on this by mistake, glad I made that mistake. I saw Roy Ayers at the World Financial Center. He is the best!,
Mindblowing music! Audience is completly paralyzed. Seriously, this is so good and cool and soothing. Hurray for the next summer! Hurray for life! Hurray for Roy Ayers!
I saw him at the Blue Note in NY a couple of years ago and we the crowd responded like you're supposed to when hearing the masterful Roy Ayers!! He was awesome as always and we definitely made some noise esp when we sang with him on this awesome piece! Don't know where this crowd came from!!
I love this song and the guitar solo at the end is one of the best I have ever heard. The band is really tight yet there is space in the music. Brings me JOY.
@@quintinfranklin9168 I know exactly what you mean. I played it yesterday and this morning and will always continue to play it. I feel this live version is the best - out of all the other live versions and dare I say, even better than the studio album, which I bought when it was released in 1976. Ayers has this incredible way he puts his chords together. Whether it's this track or 'Searchin' or ' Runnin' away' etc. He's just brilliant!!
Absolutely beautiful...you cannot beat live music played with such soul and feeling...Roy Ayres et al you are wonderful...but the audience was rather reserved to say the least! Classic song that will never grow old...thanks for entertaining us Roy.
With all due respect!!! I luv this artist & I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Ayers in Emeryville, Ca.& I can only say he is truely a gift and for him to play this tribrute to Miles Davis is also a gift! I've always wished I could've heard Mr. Miles Shelby Dewey Davis perform live...I am greatful for the 'Man With The Horn' & 'The Man With The Vbbes'!!! Stay Blessed & Prosperous...
Never seen Roy Ayers live. All I can say is this song is, always has been and always will be the shit. He needs to release a live version of this. I would go out and buy it in a heartbeat.
A funking masterpiece. I'm privileged to have seen this line up at Ronnie Scotts Birmingham. Fell in love with Zachery Breaux playing and super funky drummer. God these guys are good. Roy is just so entertaining.
Been listening to Roy since the 70's. He, Grover Washington Jr, Ronnie Laws, Bob James, Dexter Wansel, Donald Byrd, The Crusaders and Lonnie Liston Smith took charge of the jazz-fusion movement and hit it out the park. One of my all time favorite artist. This audience must have been left over from an infomercial spot!
Certainly 'IS NOT' underrated by any stretch of the imagination. My man, Roy, has influenced so many musicians across so many genres in music right across the world. Man's done seriously everlasting works that many of todays highly celebrated artists couldn't achieve in several lifetimes. WORD!
I can hardly believe I saw this band at Ronnie Scotts Birmingham. It was the best musical experience of my life. Blew my mind floating on these funk masterpieces.
from the man who gave us 'Poo Poo La La' !! I love this song, full of soul and feeling. One of the best guitar solos I have ever heard--comes in at 4.10. The band is tight but there is space in the music shame about the audience. brings me great joy. xx

Mello, smooth, exciting and you just took me back to younger days. Ooooooooooooo my, yes. My life is always beautiful in the sunshine. Roy knocked it out the park. Got me all up in my feelings, shame on you cause I’m at work and got to sit here and be cool, not let my emotions show. My brain is marinated in all this perfection. Thank you so much.
I have one more dying wish and that is to see this legend play 💕🙌✨😁🦋 ! The trip my mind goes on when I hear this.. it feels like seeing your new crush for the first time.. that tension builds and then 😅.. 🎉🎉🎉

Ray Gaskins (RIP) was a great addition to the band though,
This piece of Genius deserved a better audience.......
This is the sweetest version I've heard of this cut yet. The guitar player and drummer are nice.
In my Top 10 ! Gives all kinds of feels ❤️.
Beatmaker??? )))
i admire them for not letting the crowd damper their spirits and still play some great music.

I think Roys wink at the end says it all! a supreme performer x
I've never seen so many warm comments ..one of .my favourire Roy Ayres tracks and he's still going.....magic
Thank you for posting this video. I remember finding a cd of this performance in Berlin Germany in 94 when I was still a young thunder cat.
Yep! Heard it in New York City summer of 1978, bought the album right away. Still fabulous!
This is one of the MOST AWESOME displays of musical genius I have ever seen or heard in my 61 yrs COLD BLOODED!!!
That wink at the end tho,
Amazing set and that guy sure can play that cat, that's C.A.T
Can't tell if they're so entranced by the music, or just not appreciating it fully. People would kill to see this these days.

Was first introduced to Roy Ayer's music back in the 70's while living with my brother in Chicago, instantly fell in love with it!!
Very good Music by Roy Ayers!
