The V6 engine of is250 is an amazing artwork and I am so pleased to own an is250.

Same, I just bought a 2006 IS250 6spd manual. The body is 👌🏻😘🤌🏻 both underneath and outer. Interior looks complete but if you look closely it does need reupholstering but it can get away with out it. I’m so happy to own this car because these are becoming rare to find. Especially in good conditions.

@leonel9110 I agree, I also wish it had more power. It takes forever to get to 75mph on the interstate. I'm thinking about swapping a Lexus 5.0 V8 engine in it. It'll cost me a bit, but it'll be cheaper than buying a whole Lexus RCF in good condition. Plus it's something I can say I built.

    Respect.
    I'm driving the GS450h 2006.
For six months, I have a car problem, and no master can find me a problem.
He does not report any mistakes, but he has a problem.
It's about when I drive it a little faster, after 30-40 kilometers, the car starts to lose power at the moment when I add it to the gas. This power loss is felt in the first 2-3 seconds, or until it reaches 150 kw, then it has total power. At that moment, it started to empty my hybrid battery and pulled it to the last dash, and it is very hard to charge. I have to stop, to turn off the car to cool down a little and then everything works normally, until I come back again. 30-40 kilometers.
The battery is new, I changed the pump in the changer, lots of things that I thought I should replace, and again I have the same problem.

I have a 2007 gs350 with the 2grfse engine 134k. It runs wonderfully still zero issues. Except, it does have a knocking sound like a worn rod bearing knock sound. I found that listening with a long screwdriver at the valve cover area near the high pressure fuel pump is the loudest knocking by far so not actually sure it's a rod bearing. Do these fuel pumps knock? Do these lifters or rockers go bad and knock? Thx community.

These engines, provided the owner follows the proper mileage/maintenance schedules will last a LONG LONG time. Remember, its a Lexus. The Japanese are very careful when they build an engine and they want the customer to be happy with the product. Unlike so many US manufacturers who want you to buy their cars made with mexican/chinese made parts in their cars and after you leave the dealership, they forget about you but are awfully glad you left your money with them!

Just pull the hose off of the Positive Crankcase Ventilation 'PCV' valve, and leave both of those OPEN, that way you don't get oil vapors from the crankcase sucked into the intake tract. That is what is getting deposited on the intake valves.

    • @Robstruct
      @Robstruct  8 років тому +4

First of all, the PCV system is necessary, and as a professional I would never just "pull off hoses" and leave it that way. That is no solution. You are correct that some of the valve deposits are from the PCV system. However, the new pistons and rings are redesigned to have less blow by, therefore causing less crankcase pressure. Inevitably leading to less valve deposits. It's also important to know that any direct injection engine (without port injection) will have valve deposits, that is unavoidable. The valves need to regularly cleaned and maintained with upper engine cleaning services.

    Hi Robert
I think my low mileage with short distance is probably considered as severe.
I own an is250awd 2009, and I have only 55k KM (34.4K miles). I am living in canada with temperature ranging from -30C (-22F) to +38C (100F). Most of my rides are less than 5 miles each, mostly city driving (50%).
What do you recommend for warming time in winter before moving the car ?
What oil change schedule should I follow ( I use Penzoil synthetic oil twice a year) ?
What are your driving and maintenance recommendations.?
Should I expect a shorter engine life before a rebuild is required ?
    regards
