GO ON Melanie!! I'm a woman who weight trains (not yet at her amount), but you can see the difference in physique - a body who weight trains vs one who just does cardio.

This is fantastic. This is an extremely important message !. My dad was getting very worried that he was losing weight and becoming more fragile 2 years ago. That’s when I encouraged him to join my gym and now at the age of 79 he’s managed a 140 kg deadlift with an easy 10 kgs in the tank. He weighs 75 kgs himself and has gone up from 68 kgs 2 years ago in muscle 💪. One other thing to mention is the diet and making sure there is enough protein in it to help repair the muscles!. I had my dad increase his calorie intake too which he found hard at first but lifting 2 times a week and Pilates 2 times a week make him more hungry . He isn’t afraid of the scales telling him he’s withering away . I do think if you can , that barbell exercises are the best !! In America there are Starting Strength gyms that are making a huge difference to ordinary and older people .

This is so inspiring. We all need testosterone to build muscle so it's a good idea to check levels.

Interesting to see how her hand placement was when lifting, one overhand and one underhand. I wonder if there is a reason for this.

It gives you a better grip on the bar, especially on doing dead lifts.

      @@juanbbien thank you for that.

It stops the bar rolling out of the hands. When you lift double over hand, as the weight gets heavier, the bar rolls more . A mixed grip stops that .

It's NOT weightlifting. Sorry to.be pedantic, it's powerlifting a completely different set of exercises.
Weightlifting is a very technical Olympic event. Most cant do it properly. It's great fun trying to learn though.
