    New Coolant Reservoir from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ia/1AROB00342
    Your vehicle is equipped with a tank containing extra coolant, and space for the coolant to overflow to when the system gets hot. A cracked or broken tank could slowly drain your vehicle of much needed fluid. A dirty tank could send debris into the system, clogging it. Watch to learn how to install a direct fit coolant reservoir or overflow tank from TRQ in your 2004-2008 BMW X3.

      Nice job! Was your ex tank leaking? If so, what symptoms was your x3 getting? Trying to figure mine out.

    Worked like a charm although the intake is a bit different on the 2004 X3
    All the rest was the same. Thanks for your video.

    I always replace the thermostat at the bottom of the tank. I have had them break while removing the tank so it will delay you while you get the part of it does.

    Great vid, did mine, 1” crack up side just above the side outlet that leaked under pressure only, old tank wouldn’t pull up after clip release but bracket eventually unclipped from rad shield so I could get to bottom hose to gently pry off, refitted all Ok too. Noted my top hose small pipe-connector had some inner lip erosion preventing o ring sealing properly and as o rings had flattened too I ordered a new top hose assembly to complete the job along with flush and new anti freeze. Saved me loads, thank you, good job 👍 subscribed 😎

    Note that this is through the 2010 E83s, at least in the U.S. For 2006-10, the engine is the N52, with an electric pump, rather than the earlier M54 with mechanical. For the N52 there is a special bleed procedure that must be done before starting the engine. Search online for instructions.
    I would have left the snorkel off to check for leaks, until full/hot. And replaced that MAF with the cracked out connection. But a good video!

    Hi, thanks for the video, it helped me a lot to replace the tank myself. After I replaced it I realized that I have to do this again to replace the thermostat which I didnt know how it look like and I remember it was broken, it still works, but it was cracked, so I am now waiting for the new part. I just have a question about the coolant (liquid), the fist time I did not drain the coolant completely and I just filled it up after I finish. what happens if I dont drain the liquid before taking out the tank again?

    • @iozzelli1
      @iozzelli1 3 роки тому

      You’ll get air inside the system you need to drain the old fluid and wash the system is super easy

    Just replaced mine 2006 manual trans X3 3.0I I broke the plastic mounting bracket trying to wiggle the tank out thinking it was the O rings at the bottom hose holding it on. Anywhere I can buy just the plastic mount? The tank is zip tied for now

    Sorry -- 2007 to 2010 had the N52. 2006 still had the M54 with mechanical pump, unless an N52 slipped through late in the model year?

    can I use WD40 to lubricate the bottom 2 orings? I can not get the expansion tank to seal at the bottom. ordered multiple of everything already with the same result

      recommend just using a little Vaseline on rubber o-rings

      WD40 is like pentraiting oil, so bad idea.
