Huge Thanks To The Sponsors In This Video
I factored over $4 Million and saved thousands on fuel with RTS, they are simply the best!

While you were at McDonald's you should've filled out an application. You'd make more money then what you did with those 27 deliveries. 😅
That’s too funny 😂
Don’t dawg on a brother when they’re down. Doesn’t make you any better!
He ain’t down, that’s having the luxury to try something else, most of us take forever to make a move
BJ if he wanted to he could haul for McDonalds
😂😂
This was a great idea for your channel!
Package delivery from the perspective of a former hotshot trucker!
This reminds me of the videos of you driving when you were just an owner/operator. 😁👌
Also! Testing out different delivery apps would be a dope addition to the channel!
Keep trying shit! 😁👌💯
Thanks man
Considering each one of those shipped via UPS/FEDEX would cost you no less than $20 or more, getting paid $65 for delivery wasn't worth it. The company is pocketing nearly all the shipping fee.
123 load board works for that set up , 10 minimum flat bed can hold two or three pallets on expedited loads . I did that for few years and average around $1.75 /$200 a mile local
Good to see ya Alex! I tend to agree w other comments that you should get your cdl and go local w it. It’s might make for some good content and the pay would be better 😁
It's not better. Have you seen local rates
Alex you're a good dude thanks for the info and staying positive in a tuff time.
Howdy Alex from the Nevada desert! Keep up the good work my friend. You are adaptable, overcomer, and you thrive doing so. You don't have a business, you are the business my friend. Wish you and your family all the best. Take care.
If your going to do box delivery get a minivan. I love my Chrysler Pacifica. Fold flat seats and great access. Works great for Amazon delivery.
Although I didn’t agree with majority of the way you ran your trucking business.. I sincerely hope your succeeding in whatever your doing now. You have terrific work ethic.
I wish you the best man you are a good spirit since I started watching you I knew you are a good man , keep it up brother
Good video and information. I laughed bc I saw the factor box and I used them for meals before 😂
Thanks to you and others on youtube hotshots flooded the country. Many losing everything when economy dumped.
Hope same does not happen with local deliveries as well.
I do wish you well however.
You got a point. It's so many flunkys out here running for free.
Glad to see you on the Road? Streets? Thank you for sharing and have a great day.
Dude you can make a living doing anything. There's people who transport dogs and cats across country when people move or buy pets online. They're killing it.
Tow piglet my biggest motivation to start hot shot and just checked back see why you’re doing and sad to hear you had to shut down
All I can say is "you've come a long way baby".
'But I admire your fortitude and work ethic. You will find your niche and we will enjoy the ride.
Taking care of your family is what's important.
Thanks man, I got a decent work from home job and since I have my truck I’m trying to figure how to make money with it
@@TowPiglet what are you doing for work now?
@@skliros9235 Marketing & Sales for TruckSpy.
I host and edit the podcast, record video we come up with and more. mostly working from home
Alex, I work part time for the purple and orange courier. Work approx 5- 6 hrs a day and average about $900.00 a wk take home. Company pays for everything , I just do deliveries. No headaches, drama or gov't BS. So in my opinion that app probably isn't that great.
Hey Alex, I need your expertise. I'm fully aware of the non Cdl hauling laws. However, what is your opinion on 3550 ram srw vs 2500 srw for a 16000 gvw gooseneck that I have . Is it better to derate trailer to 14k gvwr and get 3500 srw for more rear axle weight or go with the 2500 srw and leave the trailer alone at 16k gvwr
Hey Alex what fuel cards do you recommend or used yourself for hotshot?
Hope you found your next job. Wishing you well on whatever you go with. Hauling stinks right now. Have told many. “It would cost me more then that”. Might have 2 20 mile hauls of 8000 lbs in Dec. I shut down inNov. But as favor.
Alex, more vids! I'm still out here OTR. December is slowwwwwww!
If you got one of those vans like what Amazon uses I think you could make a little money. Lots of people in my area got on contract with Amazon to deliver packages. They make anywhere from 2-3 hundred on an average day before expenses. Sounds like it would be better to just work for Amazon at those rates though. They pay drivers near me 22-30 an hour with full benefits.
I’m a Amazon Flex Contractor, and you can make some good coin. You have to be fast at everything you do though. Time is money as they say.
I make $25-40 an hour, but a lot of drivers will have a hard time making 18hr. They have crappy cars , likes to go at their own speed (slow), or just not in the right shape for the job. When they go to social Media, they cry and complain that flex is a ripoff. and cry that Flex Sucks. Just because they suck at their job, then that job has to suck. Some folks are just plain lazy.
Hi Alex sorry for loss of the hot shot. I have a 1992 chev v6 5 spd 1/2 ton I've hauled a lot of cars n have a aluminum trailer total weight 6750 lbs which I can carry 3200 lbs car or. not haveto even go thru the scales and don't have to display dot numbers I've done this several times so far thinking of trying this as a legal venture what do you think? truck gets Ave 17 mpg about 14 with small car.
I know this has nothing to do with the video, but I was wondering when you were hauling did you ever have deleted trucks or o/o with them and if so did you find having more trouble with d.o.t.?
I followed Alex from the beginning he never deleted his two trucks that he owned and leased all of his other trucks from Enterprise out of Goshen Indiana. When I did hot shot from 2019 to 4/2020 my truck was a 2007 ram. It was a 5.9 Cummins before they put Def on trucks I ran out of California I lived there at the time and I never got harassed or questioned also I have never heard of a hot shot w a deleted truck getting put out of service for being deleted. My point: the dot is not checking for deleted trucks at this time.
There was a recent Supreme Court decision that ruled against the EPA on overreach on personal vehicles emissions. I'm not an expert but I really don't think the DOT cares weather you delete or not.
I do know a guy that owns semi tractors that did get fined $1000. Dollars because one of his trucks was not emissions compliant in California. He went to court and got it dropped because his trucking company fell under the small business clause and being compliant was considered a hardship on small businesses. As far as I know that truck still runs to Boise Idaho every week from California.
Door dash might be a good option for you. You don’t need a truck and people tip sometimes
😂😂😂
The goal of this series is to test out the numerous different delivery apps available. Just like in trucking there is several different load boards and you don’t want to have to use and pay for all of them, same thing with these apps which ones are better or worse? That’s what I’m here to find out
The most interesting point is these companies are doing deliveries without needing Com. insurance or Dot, you can run a lot cheaper than most.
Good video brother
The uber of deliveries. Those drivers make poverty level profits, this won't be any different. Once different markets saw that there's enough foolish people out there that you can crowd-source labor, call them independent contractors, and they'll all effectively work at cost, these places are looking at any other areas they can take advantage of that.
Basically the problem with all gig apps. Too many people who have no business sense and keep taking the shit offers. One day I'm hoping 75% of these people would just quit and go do something else and leave the real business centric minded ones to actually do the work.
Alex, I’m not a hotshot driver. I have visited your channel many times to get information. I’m 57 yo and was searching for what I should do next after retiring (hopefully in year 2023). I invested in residential real estate on the side for about 10 years while working but ended up selling off all my residential properties then got into commercial investments until I ran into a few bad contractors that cost me lots of money. Bottom line: I’m searching for my next venture. Maybe you should consider starting an insurance company so you can give truckers better rates….your thoughts???
From what I have heard from truckers, insurance is the second highest monthly expense. If we put enough smart heads together, a cheaper insurance company could be on the horizon!!!!!
I think rates are high because companies put anyone in the driver's seat.
Hi Alex, a load like that it would have been better suited for something like a U-Haul van where you can get 150mi per day free off a weekly rental. It would be interesting to see if you break even or go into the hole after using the app every day for 1 week.
For the app you used in this video, is it only for that one warehouse or is it for different places like Mothership?
Could you list a link to your other channel? I can’t find it.
I drive ready mix but use the local delivery apps for side hustle. I use a pickup for my deliveries and here are my thoughts with respect to ideal vehicles: You can deliver most items, maybe 90%, with vehicles smaller than a truck or van. Driving a small hybrid SUV like a 2010 Escape hybrid might be the ideal car. Since you don't need to haul heavier loads you need to focus on fuel efficiency. I have a truck and do benefit from oversize loads but you don't need to do that. Primarily I'm using Roadie but there are other apps like Dispatch and Currie that have more of a need for larger vehicles and they pay better.
When we get rained out of concrete I'll put in 6 or 7 hours with local deliveries. I can make between $200 - $300 for my time. I try to stay in the $1/mile range for gigs. Sometimes you'll find deliveries that pay $3 or $4 per mile (shorter runs with larger loads). Local deliveries isn't something you'd want to do full-time and long-term. It's fine for side hustle and you have to be ok with putting a lot of miles on your vehicle. There are better ways to make money hauling local loads. You can find direct clients, use load boards, use apps that have specific needs for large vehicles, etc. I'm thinking of getting an LLC and running flatbeds and cargo vans if and when I decide to do this full-time.
Would love to see an app like this that was national. Would be awesome to make extra money on down days.
I’m actually going to try Shiply and see how it works out
UPS pays way more from what I hear. I heard they Pay 21 per hour base and .65cpm for fuel and such.
You should start a CDL hotshot trucking company
I got my CDL and 8 years experience with car hauler and hotshot business. Im locking for a job .
What was the reason you closed your hotshot trucking?
I guess the next video will be home delivery of prune juice from WalMart. HotShotDave is now hawking coins from a backyard garden shed. You might try that.
😆 this is funny
They live too kick ya while ya down love transparency I shut my business down 70 k monthly and trying too pull my shit together now buy delivering
Hotshot Dave. What a bag of hot sir
Good to see you out of the hotshot business and no longer spreading some very bad information just to get the views.
I see the hate on the comments but bruh focus on the bag good luck man keep us posted
What if you got a 1 ton srw and put a pap cap on the back and did the local delivery
Bad fuel mileage, minivan would be better
alex i started doing walmart spark short trips pay about 2 to 3 dlls a mile its worth it to do it on your free time i have done it part time and have made over 400 a week i am sure if you do it full time you can easily make 800 a week and really short trips
Alex, this week I'm going to make $1900 and change as a company driver , but with a (great company ) and a CDL , a bad week is $1050 . I'm in a 2023 cascadia freightliner with automatic transmission. Yes I'm running my ass off but I like the money and my wife and dog are with me.
You could make twice as much, in the same time, driving for Uber/Lyft/Amazon flex, especially if you're still in the H area
Alex, have you ever heard of Lane Axis? I am thinking you may still have an authority. My question is if Lane Axis actually has loads. I cannot find out as I do not have an authority. sounds like a good idea, but getting an authority is a big gamble for no freight.
Alex, what the heck. You got ripped. I took you to be smarter than this. As always I appreciate the honest videos you put out. This is far from the $ you were doing before. I hate to see your potential diminished to this.
Something is off regarding your reasoning for not getting your CDL.. Why wouldn't you get your CDL? There's plenty of options for local work, especially if you get your CDL through say, a concrete company.. They pay for your CDL training, they keep you local and you make pretty damn good money.. Then if after a couple of years you want to get your own truck, you have the money and experience to do so..
What do you consider “good money”?
@@TowPiglet Most concrete companies I've seen pay from $30/hr and up to start and the daily shifts are usually 10-12 hours a day.. Other trucking companies besides not being able to hire you local without 2 years experience, send you OTR and pay you per mile and you make almost the same per week or even less than the concrete job. $30/hr including helping you get your CDL, medical, daily home time and not worrying about Truck payments, insurance, fuel, etc. I'm an owner operator with my own truck but to start, that's a great start to the CDL life if you're asking me
@@TowPiglet All while you chill, make your money, save and buy your own truck after you get the experience if you decide to go on your own and expand more
I agree with Ed. The law requires you to have a CDL, but you can still haul the light weight loads.
This is definitely not GOOD MONEY.. dont push this guy to be an employee like you guys… tow piglet has the drive to be back on top and own another fleet … i make 6500-8500 weekly per truck in the chicago land area … minus expenses of course but I wouldn’t work for NO $30 an hr after being owner
Most of these delivery applications are for USA residents
@Tow Piglet you still selling any 40foot trailers
Damn bro you going backwards in this game 🤦🏻♂️
How so?
Driving the delivery apps is tough. I did it for about a year. Honestly that sounds like a pretty decent number for delivery driving, which is very sad. If this is what you plan to do for a living, I agree a truck is in no way feasible for that type of job. I’d go with either a 4 cylinder or a hybrid vehicle. Honestly, if you have a walmart close by, you might try to get on with Spark Driver. They are the most fair out of all of them, because of the bonus promotions they offer. There is a waiting list though. Honestly, if your going back into driving for a living, you’d be better off hiring on as a company driver, or trying to go into it just as yourself. There’s already way too many delivery drivers flooding the market, and companies know this, and take advantage, and lowball you just as cheap as they can. And they get by with it, because not everybody is business oriented, and they take these crappy orders. $15/hr is a great day. A bad day can get you $10/hr and that is before you account for your business expenses. Your too smart of a businessman to fall into that trap.
Walmart is a good idea. I drive for Roadie sometimes and Walmart just started delivering orders to their customers (through Roadie). Those gigs actually pay pretty well, like $1.50 per mile and up. Your comment about drivers flooding the market is spot on. Roadie has reduced their fees for deliveries to where they're paying .50 - .70 per mile. If you're in a more remote location, outside the normal "shipping lanes" for local deliveries, they might pay more. Or if a load sits unassigned for a while the price will go up. But there are more and more drivers with 20 year old subcompacts chasing $30 and that's causing fees to decline.
Hey brotha just wanted to throw some ideas your way because your always pouring out as well.
1. Finance Manager at car dealer makes 15-25K a month. A school in New York has a course you go at your own pace and they help you get interviews. Finish school in two weeks
2. Realtor - Get paid 3% of sales price but takes 8 weeks to get licensed
3. Loan broker network with Phil Smith is super legit
Is it possible to make money flipping a trucker project as NFTs. I was left with the impression that they turn out profitable.
🤔🤔🤔 I thought NFT’s are going down…but that trucker project have probably made a nice one. 😉
@@mrmulalo3761 I don't think nfts will ever go down, I hear it's the revolution of money just like so many people a few years ago never believed in bitcoin but now its an accepted currency
yes, I was told that I had to be part of some kind of trucker community
Alligatortrucker, it is possible to flip a trucker NFT and make a good profit considering that the trucker project you join has a large audience. NFT is here to stay, but not many projects will do well, just like not every stock you buy grows, right? The advantage of an NFT is the utility attached to the projects... For me, I am an adventurous person, so I don't stop when it comes to new ideas. I enjoy learning and trying new things and I bet it works for me.
flipping NFT project is the way i make good passive income while on the road
what is in your collection, l also flip nfts tobias
Hi Alex. Go back to non CDL hotshot ! Lol. Hope you’re doing well bro. ✌️ Mike and Eileen
Dang guy - you ate your profit when u ate at Macdonalds - ok where your at in the country think about this - get a twic card - get an older truck that wont cost you a ton and get in with the container guys out of the Houston port .... dont get out of texas/Oklahoma/Ark/La area and you can be home nearly every night - and after you learn the ropes at that it will be easy to find drivers that like to be home - there are containers moving out of all the rail hubs too. Lots of these business get container deliveries every day - so it wont take long for you to get dedicated delivery... good luck guy - but I'd stay away from your last venture...
Do you hav any suggestions for me where to start setting up to be a broker in my area?
I used LegalZoom to open my LLC
and OOIDA get my broker authority
Keep in mind, to be a good and profitable broker it is all about cold calls, sales and customer service.
TQL agents make 100 cold calls a day to try to get new shippers in board
$65 barely paid for you McDonalds meal. Good to see you again.
$65 is terrible when you take out fuel, maintenance, etc.
Shipley! Website
for pick up trucks . Sprinters box truck.
Thank you
Alex new job is to sponsor companies and apps for pay. this and many more upcoming videos and apps are sponsor.
Why didn't you just get your CDL B and still drive your hot shot setup?
Is there a way to rate hotshot transport companies. I’ve been screwed by a company that hasn’t paid me. It seems wrong that there’s not a way to rate these terrible companies.
Thanks for making the video, folks in the comments are failing to see the point in the video lol.
Good Lord!! I will not be indulging in that nonsense. Thanks For the video Alex
I’m still hauling cars on the east coast non cdl and killing it with the snow birds. I don’t get why you can’t still run on your own unless it’s where you live.
How’s the fuel prices up there?
car haulers never stopped making money. hotshot car hauler is where it’s always been.
I think that service is for someone local to the warehouse with a 25mpg+ suv and looking for additional income….either way if i was all of those things it still is not worth it😂
Lets see, last week my truck broke down. Needs a transmission rebuild. Doesn’t matter how much the loads pay if the expenses exceed the income. I was on target for my best week ever at $9500. Now all that money goes for repairs and fuel.
I’d make more money working at McDonald’s. Starting pay is $19 per hour. But hey we wouldn’t be having fun would we. This is what real men do. Use it. Break it. Fix it. Do it all over again, AND expect a different outcome.
Started from the top now were here....
Another app job that needs a truck, the electric scooters gig can be profitable if your timing is right.
You could try Roadie as well.
Hey Alex 👋🏻
Hi sir
UPS guys get like $40 bucks an hour plus benefits and pension to do this type of work, and they sure as heck aren't wearing out their own vehicle doing it. This whole "side hustle" gig economy thing like Door Dash, Uber, and this kind of stuff are just taking advantage of people.
Alex, why did you quit hot shotting? Please answer that question I’m serious I really want to know why you invested so much in it.
Dammmm.. Is Alex in the witness protection Haven't seen him in a long time... He's gone underground...lol
Videos coming this week
I don't think any of the delivery apps will be worth your time. Like you said, not the best with a full size pickup. Have seen other videos of people doing like overflow day work for Amazon and some ups. Lots of rules to follow for low dollars. Even pizza or jimmy johns doesn't cover vehicle expenses. I love close to trailer heaven in Indiana. Thought about hauling them. But milage pay wasn't there and a lot of deadhead.
I was not paying close attention $65 for 4 hours? Over 165 miles? I think you lost money. Let’s use that $15 a hour minimum wage folks call for. Let’s say you get +20 mpg. 8 gallons of gas (cheaper) is @$25 cheapest I have seen. My thinking. My car costs @$.40 a mile to drive. Pickup @$.55. My diesel @$.65. So wear, tear, fuel, insurance over $60
Any way you figure. Not a good job. Did you check if your insurance covered this work?
I’m just testing out these apps, people have asked me many times can I hotshot locally? That’s what I’m trying to figure out
@@TowPiglet it depends on your area. In mine there are multiple options for drivers. A door, cabinet making place needs delivery route drivers. Enclosed trailers. You do not lift over 40 lbs ever. They load, secure. You drive point A,B,C,D, often in that order every day. 3 days a week. M,W,F. T, TH you drive other locations. Back in 8 hours or OT. Driving their semi trucks. Another is livestock. Pigs. You drive dually pickup they supply with their @30’ double GN trailer. For disease control you stay in truck. They disinfect trailer, load @40lb hogs. You drive 3-5 hours they unload, disinfect. You get loaded larger hogs @5 hour repeat. Thursday done for week. If you sleep in truck you make more. But few useable hotels @$50 .
These are jobs I have been offered. That CDL opens options.
@@TowPiglet when i think locally at that scale i think max 300mi to a min 100mi. (1 day round trip type gigs) but doing what any normal hotshot would do. Doing anything else doesn't make sense to me. Regadless it’s a interesting idea for people who don't want to or flat out can’t do non stop otr. (Like a single parent. Or young adult that has school and or has to look after extended family for example).
Alex you responded to one comment and said you are making good money and what are doing that you’re making good money?
I do social media marketing and sales for TruckSpy
@@TowPiglet do you miss the trucking business?

I do 9k doing hotshot local, 15k axles 40ft trailer cdl class a
Look into cargo vans
You are going to be missed 😢
It's not worth it but there's got to be better ones that pay more money that make it worth your while
Shout out Alex to you
Two words…….UPS
I like your vids. This said, in all your other vids you keep giving us Gross Income.
I tried to get you to give us Net Income.
If you make a 100k and spend a 100k you made nothing, of course.
Do to your vids and all the other hoopla on drivers buying trucks and making money, as they would say, I put a lot of time and money into my KW. Now; after spending a lot of time and money, I have a nicely fixed up truck and no work.
I should have junked the truck and sold the property it was on. I would have made $50k to a 100k on the property and saved the money until the next upward move. Now I'm stuck with an extra house and a wothless truck and trailer.
My experience says it'll be another 10 years till the market gets better for trucking and housing. We shall see.
Man. You could make more mowing lawns. You could mow 10 lawns for 50 bucks. Thats 500 a day
You need to do the ubereat delivery with an electric scooter, that make more sense than this gas hocking truck.
Hamburger for supper I guess, not really a steak for supper job... 🙂 Seems like after overhead and taxes you might owe them...LOL (joke)
lol go do expediting van work. You are familiar with the industry already
What happened to Will drive for Tacos! He disappeared.
Bungii driver and GoShare driver pay pretty good around the Houston area.
Did you learn anything from your first bankruptcy?
Come drive for me. Owner operators make 90% of your pay?
Hmmm seems as if you had to shut down hotshot due to some other reasons than just not having CDL. Too much money left on table to keep driving but do small local loads like this 🤭
I’ve mentioned in a previous video, the insurance quote I got was too high
@@TowPiglet 👍🏻 okay just seems like that isn’t the case for so many other drivers entering into this. But everyone ls rates are different
@@Colbycheese2518 I know a little bit more about insurance now than compared to before and I can say that quotes very based on risk factors of each company except for new companies. When you're new they have nothing to base the quote on except for companies similar to you in size, location, driver age etc. so sometimes a new company can get a better price than an older one. That is also why when some carriers go out of business they start a new MC and slowly start to transfer the drivers from the old company to the new one. If you transfer drivers too fast or all at once it'll be a red flag for insurance. I didn't want to do that so I had to close down
Keep making more you tubes like this with local runs...
Why go big? Why chase millions when millions will eventually come chasing you. Keep doing hotshot and just do it solo (owner/operator). I flip houses and do hotshot. You should try real estate investment.
So you got paid $65 and it cost you $150 in mileage costs? Great business model.
Brother I make more in door dash. For sure. I make like 100+ in 4 hours.
Maybe if you could pick up multiple routes. There is an app for that. Forgetting what it’s called I’ll get back to you on that.
Not worth it, try Veho. If you get in good with the warehouse workers they’ll give you two routes.
