    Parts from an aircraft is really pricy but you sacrificed them for us! Truly amazing!

    Great video, thank you.
    A flow test would be interesting to see if there's any difference in the filter medium, or know what the micron rating is

    Well, for experimental, I've simply used good automotive spin ons, with no problems.

    Filter shortage - and I just changed from an oil screen to a spin on filter... Should have waited another year.

      You’ll be fine. Just get one or two on order from your supplier. Walk-in customers will always be last to get one. PS. If you visit the DFW area make sure to visit Texas Womens University cookbook collection in Denton. Apparently a stellar collection with some dating to mid 1600’s…

      @@HangaRatz I've got one in the hangar, and my AME has a few on hand. I've put in an order, I'm flying enough that I'm doing an oil change every 6 weeks or so.

    The interesting difference between air cooled aircraft engines and modern auto engines are the tolerances are much looser on aircraft engines.

    • @HangaRatz
      @HangaRatz  Рік тому

      And.... aircraft aircooled engines don't spin at 8000 rpm... and... the crankshafts have to endure bending loads (propeller forces) as well as torsional loads. Thanks for watching!

    If it were not for the liability, Wix or any other automotive filter manufacturer could make a filter for aircraft. Then there would be no shortage and the filter would be less expensive.

    • @HangaRatz
      @HangaRatz  7 місяців тому

      It really comes down to a matter of numbers. Total aircraft filter usage per year is probably around 200,000. Maybe... Small potatoes for auto filter companies...

    Thanks for the info. Wondering if any one out there does add oil in the filter before installing it on the engine ? Regards

    • @HangaRatz
      @HangaRatz  Рік тому

      Because of the positioning of oil filters on most engines the oil would spill out while you're trying to install it... ...Thank you engineers!... Thanks for watching!

      @@HangaRatz I do understand the maintainibility of the installation filter position, i use to it on my Roax 912 understand the position is 90° of the Lycoming. Hope to be able to try it in summer 2026 when i will be done with a comple rebuild of my Pacer 1953. Hope to see you at Sun& Fun 2023.

    Do you use oil to lubricate the rubber ring? And usually what do you tourge it?

    • @HangaRatz
      @HangaRatz  Рік тому

      All of the oil filters have directions on their exterior for the proper lubricant to use.
