Excellent work
Thanks very much for watching. Hope you give it a go. If you haven’t already you should check out Bob Wyatts books. Tight lines. Paul
I like especially the scarce amout of deer hair fibers that you use for this fly. I am thinking that this fly can also be tied with numerous other dark colors,. Thank you for your excellent tying demonstration,
MSG Leum
A simple but wicked little fly.
Yeah it’s a great pattern. Thanks for watching and tight lines
Paul 😎🎣
great one. love the use of cat dubbing.
Thanks very much. Hope they get you a few fish. Tight lines
I find it astounding that this excellent fly isn't more well known and used. I first tied it 20 odd years ago after seeing it in one of Bob Wyatt's articles in FF&FT magazine. My late father and I enjoyed immediate success with it on our club water. Our grown on rainbows bow waved after it before nailing it with a thumping take. Your video has brought back happy memories.
It’s a proper fish catcher. I still bump into people on the bank who ask what I’m using and when I say DHE they have never heard of it. Thank you very much for watching and for the kind comments.

David Benjamin.......it's not as good as a CDC fly.......a CDC soft hackle dry fly pisses all over it!
Super fly, looking forward to more.
Thanks very much for watching. More to follow 😎👍🏴
Paul well tied emerger and proven catcher!! Keep going, with the fishing stories as well. 👍🎣
Thanks very much. Appreciate it. Some more to come. Tight lines. Paul
Very nice tyiing and great practical advice. people can get way too precious about making perfect flies. at least for actual fishing! :-)
Thanks very much. Yeah couldn’t agree more. I love to tie ‘fishing flies’ 😎👍
Great video, tied my first dry fly today thanks to you and it looks great.
Thanks very much for the kind words Jack and thank you for watching. I hope you get a few fish on this fly. It’s a great pattern.

Very nice!
Thanks very much. Tight lines. Paul
Great fly . Got it from a Paul Proctor version in Trout & Salmon 10 years ago . Very similar to yours. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
Anything Paul Proctor recommends has to be a winner! Thanks very much for watching. Hope you are having fun with those cracking Irish trout.

Thanks for the mention Paul. Good wee video and keep 'em coming. Deadly DHE btw.
Thanks Allan. Appreciate it and thanks for all the help with this pattern and others. Tight lines mate.
Excellent stuff Paul, wouldn't know it was your first video
Thanks very much. Enjoyed doing it. 😊😎
Nice video and great looking fly
Thanks very much Graham. Appreciate it.

Well done on your first video Paul. Good fishing fly too.
Thanks very much 👍😎
Fairplay man👍
Thank you 😎
Pretty much the only dry fly I tie anymore. Crank out a few a piece in sizes 12-16 and I'm set for the month. I've been tying his "2.0" version though. It's even simpler and faster. Not gonna sell in a fly shop for it's looks though haha. I like to add a trailing shuck out of antron. Cheers
100% agree! It really is a special pattern. 👍 I’ve been doing them with olive body for the LDOs but I’m not sure even that is necessary. I’d be happy to just fish it in original form to 90% of the rising fish I see.
Thanks for watching

Its called a shaving brush in Oz
Thanks very much for watching. Yeah Bob fished a lot in NZ so I’m sure he may have been influenced by them and the good people of OZ. Tight lines. Paul
I like that Paul.
Cheers Steve 👍😎🎣
Much better with a CDC wing!!
Thanks for the reply Jonathon and thanks very much for watching the video. I tie lots of successful patterns with CDC. It’s a wonderful material. However, for the DHE I find deer hair looks better, floats longer and requires much less maintenance. That’s the beauty of tying tho. We can all customise our patterns to our own needs. You should definitely check out Bob Wyatts books. 😎

@@paulgarrigan2472 I've already read his books! I completely disagree with his and your views that CDC is high maintenance. Use good and enough CDC, treat with CORRECT floatant and it's as good as deer hair and easier to tie with. And how you think deer hair looks better than CDC as a wing?? I suggest you actually go and look at a real insects wing. Soft and transparent grey just like CDC.....deer hair looks like a bunch of sticks!
