Amazing how that market share would go from 50+% full sized cars to >20% by '74...

Imperial = TOTAL luxury! Would trade my 2019 Lincoln for a mint '72 Imperial in a HEARTbeat!

The odd ball thing is that if you know what to do, you can make the 72 Imperial match or beat your 2019 Lincoln on fuel economy, too. It costs a bit, but a whole lot less than a new Lincoln! Those big old engines have torque. The problem is that the drive lines back then did not use that torque to good advantage. Keep in mind, I am in Canada, so engine availability and tuning are different than the US, and I'm working in Imperial gallons which are bigger than US gallons. I had 2 1978 Thunderbird coupes, both 351 cars with the FMX 3 speed automatic. After sorting the exhausts and dealing with tuning them properly, 28 miles to the gallon. My 89 Grand Marquis, my brother's 79 Thunderbird and his wife's 86 Colony Park all had the 351W as specced after the rework in 86, all backed by the mechanical AOD. Both of the Panther cars had the towing package and were rated for 6000 pounds of trailer. All three of them used 7 litres per 100 kilometers, which is 40 miles to the Imperial gallon. Considering there was no real differences between my 78 Thunderbirds and my brother's 79, it shows what can be done to make old cars much more economical to drive.

The 72 Newport Royal was a great looking car, the rear-end was fantastic.

I looked at several late 1970’s Chrysler products as a teenager. However my dad said they were not know for reliability. So he found me a 6 year old Chevy Caprice

This is a film strip. Back in the day there were no videos available for the average person or small business. If I you were a dealer in 1971 thru 1975. The dealerships received promotional materials in a video strip. And a record would accompany the film strip. The ting
Tells the sales staff to move the video strip to the next slide on the strip

The problem is they focus all the way on money and not the reliability and affordability it would take to gain a great reputation like Toyota to make more money. Do the ethical thing and Americans and the world will buy. It's why Toyota is the largest car manufacturer in the world.
