Grew up on a farm in Tennessee. We lived in a 4 room house. PapPaw and Dad would plow with mules and we kids had to plant and hoe weeds. Brings back a lot of memories. We finally got a tractor in 1972. Raised all of our meat and vegetables. Slaughtered hogs after the first frost. Never had to worry bout fancy things. We were happy with what we had.
I grew up with the Farmall cub. My dad would put me on the Cub when I was 5 years old and I would disk the 20 acres for 4-5 hours. I would ask him where should I go, he would say "everywhere". When it ran out of fuel, he would re-fuel it, and I would drive it everywhere for another 4-5 hours. I had no idea how to stop it, I only knew how to steer it, I loved it.
Love watching your videos, and thank you for being kind to Archie, so many men I know are hateful and cruel to cats, I think they think it's a threat to their masculinity or something, We love cats and dogs and all animals domestic and wild , although we give the wild ones their space .
I needed this video 100%! You showed this dummy how to hook all my stuff up better than any video I’ve seen! I’ve got a 44 A I’ve been playing with but didn’t know how to set up. Thank you kindly.
Great to see a tractor do what it's supposed to do. Nice and simple. 74 years old and still gets the job done. Added bonus, they're easy to use and fix when needed.
Concordo! 👍👍 Os tratores de hoje não passam de tranqueiras de plástico, cheias de sensores para quebrar e a manutenção é muito cara. Saudade dos velhos tempos onde tudo era simples e funcional, inclusive a vida. Abraços do Brasil! 🇧🇷🇧🇷
Im a dog person but I love seeing a good mouser at work . And i love seeing old stuff at work. My dad always told us if the dis and plow is not shining you're not working hard enough.
You say you aren’t a cat person but it looks like Archie is changing that! Cats and dogs are both fun and unique in their own ways. I personally enjoy both. I like that cats are more independent.
Very nice! I had a 1957 cub. All manual. Including crank start. No implements though. Also had a 1049 Farmall M. Used it for brush hogging n spreading manure. An hay work.
I returned in a year to re-watch this video again. I've been farming with my offset Farmalls for three years now and I still learn from watching others. This morning I caught your comment about hitching the disc to the right side (the light weight side). Although, I have flat ground to work, that makes great sense to lower the CG of the tractor a little bit. Thanks for sharing your videos.
Needed to see this video. I have a 1950 Cub. Not new to gardening but somewhat new to the Cub. Have some implements but need the disc. Hard to find here. Garden is already in for this year. Thanks for the video.
It upsets me hearing about that train wreck with all the chemicals that is surrounding in the areas and you only being 25 miles from it isn't very far from it. So many people and animals sick. May the Lord protect you. Wonderful seeing you plowing for a garden today. Good thing you are doing.
Brother, I watched your video it was very peaceful, relaxing 😌, I can see you're truthfully love to be using all that father gave you and gives 😉you A true man never stops because of who feeds him,😊😉❤💯👊💪🫵 sending my love from North Carolina to you and your beautiful family
My grandfather mounted a metal clasping ammo box on ours to keep tools, chain and stuff for the implements. He also routed the exhaust out the back on left side with piping like a tailpipe. If you could get the hydraulic lift, you'd appreciate it. We had all the farming and lawn care stuff as well as many inventions/reapplications of his own. One of the sounds in your video that brought back memories was the popping sound made when you hop of the seat. I probably heard that near a million times from backing up to hook something up like our trailer or reel mowers or wrapping chains around a limb pile from a cut tree.
I love your channel, and old tractors, so wow, great. I really enjoyed the content of this video, and am thankful you brought us along. Blessings to you.
The views from under the tractor plowing the soil were quite satisfying. Simple pleasures! Prayers for God's protection from the chemicals, 25 miles is close.
Hey Jerry, that's a nice working-condition Cub you have there my friend! I'm sure you already know that IH made the best garden tractor ever imo. I have 2 Farmalls; a 100 with several pcs. of 1 pt. equip., an M and a 274 diesel. That worked up nicely too. We're out in the Country here and farm a little. Love your ''pets'' as well. From Sophia, N.C.
That little tractor sure is a Workhorse! Surprised you did not use a mule and a plow as we did Growing Up on our truck Gardens. Thanks for sharing another great video!
Nice video I'm up here in Clyde not far from you I do the same thing with a smaller tractor the Allis charmers I just got my first disc in fact I'm going to pick it up in Sunbury Wednesday but it's still a little wet for me I'm gonna be doing my plow the very first time I've garden with the rotor tiller but I finally bought a plow and I don't think it's ever been plow so I'm actions to figure that out have fun
Love the tractor** my great grandparents had one like it....a great workhorse. They had a box on theirs also very convenient" miss those days of running it in our garden...Understand about the cat* lol I have one also ( I'm not" a cat person either but guess they choose us*** love the videos so hope you share videos of your garden in the future
I am worried about my sister with the train issue. She lives in Beaver, PA. Nice tractor. Most of my tractors are John Deere two cylinders but I just bought a 1953 Allis Chalmers B for gardening and running a buzz saw.
First time viewer and first time tractor owner yes I did subscribe I am a want to be farmer don’t have much land so I bought a badboy 1025h because the size fits love watching the cub work
THAT TRACTOR IS SO KOOL, JUST ENOUGH AND SOUNDS LIKE A SWISS CLOCK. GLAD TO SEE YOU FOUND THE ATTACHMENTS FOR IT, AND ITS WORKIN GREAT. AS A PRECISION ASSEMBLY TECH , I TOTALLY APPRECEIATE THE MANUAL OPERATION. IM NOT A FAN OF ELECTRONICS. ARCHIE IS A HOOT.. LOOKS LIKE HE ADOPTED YOU, AND HES A MOUSE DETERRENT. IM ALSO IN AGREEMENT WITH YOU ON THE CARELESS DISREGARD TO AMERICANS. THE CURRENT GOVTOFFENDERS ARE BEING ALLOWED TO WREAK HAVOC WITH A LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY. I AM LIVID TOO. IM SURE 75% OF US ARE AT WITS END WITH THIS ALSO. BUT... GOD IS GOOD AND HES GONNA SHAKE IT UP. BE BLESSED BROTHER..
Just subscribe to you We used to do that when I was a kid We used to have a super C With hydraulics Did the same thing What's up here in New York I appreciate watching this Have a good day stay safe
I'm getting into gardening now my great uncle had a 48 fcub sitting in the garage for years its in great shape so I'm looking for videos with ppl using different implements and came across your channel! Subscribed haha..its an orange cub with white grille I'm not sure if it's original it looks like it and I read they mixed yellow with red back during the war because of a red paint shortage.
I don’t know if any one has mentioned this, adding some weight to the racks behind the front gangs will help it cut better adding weight to the rear racks will make a smoother finish. On ours we would add weight to both on fresh plowed ground to break it up faster.
I have the same Cub , great little tractor. Mine is a '48. Just about time to plant potatoes, onions, and peas here in Ky. Do you have the sickle bar mower for it?
I’m from NH and am still worried about the train derailment never here anything about it but we know it’s bad I worry about all the meat, veggies maple products coming out of your area does anyone care from the government NO I hope your soil is ok and your safe

Just watching your video and you said aowmthing about a tool box. I mounted an ammo can under the seat. I can send a picture of it if you would like. I keep all my tools in it and it’s water proof.
Try this (if you haven't already), clear out your stone fireplace of debris and play the song Pachabel inside the walls of the fireplace. Should be a beautiful sound. One of my favorite orchestration. A work colleague introduced this song to his 5th grade class and repeatedly played it. No words. How would you translate the music?
Worried about us in the US but especially those in direct area of these “accidents”. Hope your soil stays put on the hill. Maybe next year leave some mower width strips to keep erosion down??????

Cool video. Ive been looking at getting one of these. Do they make an attachment you can use for brush clearing? I know these dont have a three point or hydraulics. I havent run a tractor for years but i miss it.
Hi jerry was wondering if you could help me with your knowledge. I love your videos. Learnt alot. I have a littke international harvester b250 tractor. So i want to work an area about as big as yours. So let me get this right. I need a plow, then a disc harrow like you have done. Then do i need a tyne c type cultivator? Then I need a bedder? How do you plan to make raised bed rows? Seems like I need 3 or 4 attachments? Any advice ? Does this seem correct what im saying? Thanks from australia 😊
I’m a new follower to your page. I’ve watched your videos, on how to build a traditional log cabin fireplace. My question to you is, do you have any suggestions on, build said fireplace traditionally in ( Alaska ) I’m moving there soon, and before I start construction any advice helps?
The best advice I can give you is to match the mortar to the stone. In Alaska I would say the stone will be much harder, so use a harder mortar mixture.
Why thank you sir! Do have any videos on how to go about waterproofing it? This my wife and I dream and I want to do it myself, this way of living is dying and I wanna help keep it alive.
Sir. Sounds like you are planning quite the odyssey. I am jealous. I wish you luck. Keep in mind the frigid temps in the North. You will need to heat with a woodburning stove of considerable size in addition to only having a conventional masonry fireplace. Insulate your living quarters to the best of your ability also. Surviving temperatures far below zero degrees F requires much preparation.

I can relate fondly to that up here in Kentucky

Great story my friend!! This is my favorite part about having a UA-cam channel. Hearing people’s stories of the past.
I wish more children these days had the opportunity of your experiences.
I had my 6 year old drive my Cub last year, but just for a few minutes. :) 4-5 hours! He would love that!
Love watching your videos, and thank you for being kind to Archie, so many men I know are hateful and cruel to cats, I think they think it's a threat to their masculinity or something, We love cats and dogs and all animals domestic and wild , although we give the wild ones their space .
I have a yellow cat just like your Archie… mine rides on my left shoulder all the time…. And his name is Conway Kitty.
I enjoy your videos

Yes, very much so.
Very nice video! Really got a kick out of Archie! I have one that does the same thing. Keep up the good work!
Enjoyed the video. Getting ready to start my garden in a month or so.

We always used short pieces of I beam to weigh down the harrow.
Great idea!! It was cutting pretty deep without any weight on it.
I'm sorry about the derailment!
Hey Jerry, loved the video is there a way to change the depth for the plow?
Yes, it is fully available with your hand controls. Both the depth and the pitch
I’m praying for you and your neighbors in Palestine. ❤🙏

Grease the disk. All the time .an put weigh on the disk s blocks that work 👍

The Tyne c type cultivators he is using are manufactured by King brand. To make raised bed rows you need disc hillers or a disc bedder

After you are completed keep it dry. Water proof the stone. It will last forever if it stays dry

Where did you find the attachments as I am having problems finding any!
I had to drive 3 hours into Pennsylvania to get them. I found them on Facebook marketplace
Nice little tractor! Do you have a planter?
I don’t have a planter.
It's a spring tooth harrow
How did you manage to get on the train derailment?
Because when I shot this video it was just after it and I only like about 20 miles from it
🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍🎗️
Why are you using a row crop cultivator instead of a field cultivator
Do those pants keep you warm?
Yes
Is it just me or are you plowing up and down that hill?
