My pawpaw would say “That’s Snazzy” watching that grist mill work. To me it’s like the old time ways are waking up. Beautiful cornmeal, and I bet mixing the two types would make a nice corn bread also.
Fantastic video showing everyone how you keep history alive with the 1940 Meadows Grist Mill, it doesn't get any better than this. The cornmeal looks so delicious and I could almost smell and taste that fresh cornbread through the video. Sure brings back memories of the Good Old Days when the community gathered to help each other and listen to the rhythm of the Mill Grinding Corn. Thank you Mr. Danny and Mrs. Wanda for sharing with all of us.
Ground a lot of meal on a Meadows mill, learned how to sharpen the stones ,still have grandads Hand pick . Meadows millworks still in business in North Wilksboro NC.A lot of manuals on thier web site.Good for cracking corn to convert into Luqid corn LOL
This was truly amazing to watch! I enjoyed every minute & did not want to video to end! & the meal at the end looked great! Yummy! Good ol home cooking!
Very interesting! Enjoy your cornbread! Miss my moms true cornbread! So thankful I was brought up back in the day 60’s! Home cook vegetables with real fat and cornbread! Did you ever have biscuits with butter and molasses? I miss that as well! Thank you for helping me remember the past! God bless!
My Dad found 2 large stores, then all the other piece too. It was made in 1941 with the Mill tag on it. We wrote to the mill they sent the plans to us. He made everything he needed. He ground mill and grits. It turned out great!! I love watching and learning about. A part of History that people don't know about today! Thank you for making this show! I love it!!😊❤️🙏
Enjoyed the video, I love watching the old iron still getting the job done! You have a good excuse to get a 140 Farmall now! Nothing beats good home ground home grown corn bread!😊
Thank y'all for sharing. Amazing the ingenuity behind those old machines. Fascinates me to watch em work. Does an amazing job sure it's going to make some delicious corn bread and grits. Y'all have a blessed day.
I’m looking forward to getting some Danny corn growing in the Spring. Watching you grind the corn was pretty cool. We’ll be looking for a hand crank mill for ours. Dinner looks delicious! Shalom! ❤
So nice that you have a a machine that does that for you. That you’re able to have great quality food from your own home then going to a store.. always nice having friends around to help out. What a blessed meal you’re having. Still got you in my prayers Danny. God bless you both.
❤❤❤Love seeing that gris mill grind that beautiful corn! It sure made some delicious looking cornbread! That meal was fit for Kings!!!! God bless you and your sweet friends!
Only half of the calluses on Dan's hands come from hard work, the rest come from turning so many pages in his Bible! Thanks ya'll! Thomas,North Mississippi.
Corn bread from fresh ground meal has a different taste than what you buy in the store. I don't know if it is a different kind of corn or if it is just stale.
I was surprised that Cub even turned the mill. Those little tractors didn't have much power. Something like a Farmall H would be about right for that mill.
I just rebuilt a 1935 meadows mill and dressed the stone on mine and when I ground the corn I had nothing but husks coming out the end of the bolster which they say is good it means that the stones are sharp I’m not a expert at all I’m learning as well I like your videos thanks
@@brianirick9826 My issue was the tractor was not strong enough to pull it at the right speed. It should have been turning just a little faster than it was. It was constantly trying to kill the tractor if we let to many kernels though. Still learning
Question why nit just run a harbor frieght engine to power the gristmill for that mater why nit run a shorter easier to align and tendion belt i promise your loosing 5 hp through that belt stretching it seems a couole mods and you could improve your ability while still retaining the old way a small harbor frieght engine even up to the 650 cc v twin is old tech carburated to a empty splibe pull that drive pully system off the farmall fit it to the new engine and run that thing full tilt also im sure a guy with lathe skills could remedy that loose feed regulator bolt better yet figure out whete the feed rate is best at full power with new motor and weld that collar in place or at least drill holse that allow you to set and p8n it at intervals. I understand preserving tradition and i onow yall had a good time but you could vastly improve this set up to improve your time spent aquiring feed and one minor part of your diet

Danny, my daddy would say those are the hands of a working man
I really like the Grist mill. I figured you would like that Jimmy red.
I was amazed it was so much different than mine. It's definitely a lot softer corn.

That's to make the mill turn in the opposite direction it it needs to.

It may look like fun, but it’s a LOT of hard work.
@@vickisavage8929 I’m quite aware of that. I was addressing the camaraderie with friends.

In the store a lot is taken out of it.
I'd been super happy to bring apple crumble for dessert and join y'all!
man that corn meal right there looks KILLIN!!! ❤
I'm hungry for some good country soul food.........😃
I see my friend Mrs Cynthia!
Now that is real food.
I’ve been waiting to see that different corn meal next to Danny corn that’s cool I wonder at the taste difference ❤❤❤
And the difference in nutrition.
@@vickisavage8929 oh actually didn’t think about that good call

Would love to see your grist mill running off one of my hit and miss engines. I just found your channel a few days ago and am hooked. :)

Community. Thumbs up.
That looks great
Makes me hungry
Put a turbo on that motor, it'll grind then
Would likke to put my B Farmall on it and see how it would. Good eating for sure.
Danny, did you mark that spot where you parked the Farmall so you can just pull up and park without all the adjusting?
Not really
❤❤❤
MY DAD USED WHITE CORN.
A Farmall Cub only has 9 to 10 horsepower. Before everybody calls me a liar look it up for yourself.
That's correct
