Thanks for another good review. I already own the the original Hull so, don't think i'll be adding this one to the collection, but I do like what they have done with the design. I'd like to see Spinnaker produce a field style watch next. It seems surprising to me that they haven't done one yet, considering their style is very much the rugged outdoors style.
A field style would be nice... however I doubt they will venture there very soon. Overall their style is supposed to be Diver and maritime...
Thank you for your unbiased honest review!
Thanks man, glad you appreciate it :)
Thanks Ivan, excellent review! I also like the Hull designs of these Spinnakers, but have been on the fence regarding a purchase of any watch with a Meca-Quartz mvmt. I typically prefer an automatic or mechanical mvmt, however I do have a few solar or eco-drive models. That said, I do find these interesting, just as I do the Bulova Precisionist line, primarily because they're somewhat different from standard quartz models.
Yeah agreed, I do like something different in my Quartz models... especially so when it does something no mechanical can do, like AT sync or triple sensors :)
A nice cushion case chronograph watch review, Ivan.
Though looks rugged, this watch piece sure do have a modern vintage twist tool watch to it.
I could definitely see meself wearing this around.
Thanks for that - the Hull designs remain my favourites from Spinnaker! :)
Just bought this one direct from Spinnaker online with free postage and found it was a discounted model in the green face plus used a code for a further 15% off. Overall paid $232 Aussie dollars a steal! 🎉
Great price for a nice piece!
Yep they have nailed it again with great looks and decent build quality, at a very competitive price. Once again they're still going a little over the top with sizing
Thanks for that - yeah I do wish they try to stick more around 40mm...
Thanks for not showing the box, leaflets, price tags and other garbage for the first 15 minutes of the video, as they used to do in other reviews. Much appreciated :)
Well I have never done that... so do keep watching and sharing :)
If they would have put the 1963 Chinese column wheel movement in this man o man what a hit
Oh now that would be quite something… but alas I’m afraid that would also be too creative a thing for Spinnaker!!
WHOA!!! 😮 I love it. “That’s going straight to the pool room!”🤣
Haha nice ;)
Amazingly coordinated spruiking posts!
@@PerthWAtch Bloody annoying Ivan! I won’t be broken!😵💫🤣
Great review .... Spinnaker must do 40mm watch ! :)
Thanks - yeah, now that I would like to see!
Great looking watch for the money! I kinda like the band. It looks very substantial, and I like the rustic look against the modern case. I could see myself wearing this one a lot. I just wish it was a mechanical self winding mechanism.
Thanks for that. The band looks ok.... but seriously doesn't feel very good. Automatic would be great... but I think if Spinnaker ever get around to doing one it will be well over $500...
I can’t afford that. The quartz is almost always more accurate anyway!
More accurate, cheaper to make, cheaper to replace/service, more durable... hence the 1970's to 80's crisis :)
A good deployment clasp, black calendar wheel and automatic movement would seal the deal for me.
Make that another $300 at least mate 😆
@@PerthWAtch I might just pay it? I’ve paid far more in the past but, times change. Nice to have the option on such a beautiful timepiece.
If they put in a good movement, $500 would be a fair price - next step is to talk to Spinnaker!
chunky 15mm for a quartz.
I agree, nice but too big
I would've liked to see them make it a little thinner...
beautiful but yet macho. big but not overly.
Some would say original yet copied ;)
It's a lot of stuff going but not a lot of sophistication in execution. I think the subdial hands look like clubs, just no refinement. And I personally feel like the hands on a chrono need to be more exact. Tachymeter on the inside might work well with this cushion shape. Maybe a color matched date wheel. There are several Spinnaker designs I like, but this honestly looks like a mess.
Yeah I suppose batons are a type of club in a way! Agreed, chronograph hands should be made a bit more exacting. Colour matching would be nice but thus far I have yet to see a Spinnaker with anything other than black or white date discs.
Distressed brown, is what I’d call that.
Thanks - quite appropriate I think!
That is a cracking watch I do like spinnaker as a brand. Great review and ivan I've not got that one... But I do have a pagani design crono with the same movement
Thanks man - yeah someone mentioned that Pagani too!
My sincere apologies :)
Wow...I love the watch & planning to buy them...
Awesome... well if you click through using my links and codes, it will help keep the channel going :)
Imagine they lume the dd wheel instead of 12 o'clock little dot.
That'd be quite a sight in the dark! :)
I hate to be a stickler, but $200 - $235 is actually -$35 which means that, believe it or not, this watch is actually priced at -more than- $200.
Not sure how to help you man… maybe try reading the descriptions properly, including the discount code I put in the *first line* ?
Doe anyone know how to set the time on the watch?
Yes!
Looks pretty decent, though probably a watch I wouldn't wear...
Thanks Gary - it's a tad too busy on the dial I think, otherwise I do love the Hull case and design :)
Swiss Military SM34084.06 or Spinnaker Hull Chrono?
Is one more expensive?
speedy gonazales me. numero uno again.
Yes you are :)
Absolutely love your reviews Ivan, but UGH, Spinnaker again. But still, well done review.
Thanks Ray - well what can I say, I do think they make some nice pieces, and they help keep us running :)
Have you used this Spinnaker much for timing, Ivan? If so, does the chronograph second hand return precisely to zero because my experience of these movements with flyback seconds is that this hand eventually slips on its axel and flies back slightly beyond zero. And that lollipop second hand means more mass to stop than on the fine needle hand on my Mecaquartz chronograph. This I'me told cannot be remedied.
Also, do you feel that the major hands look a little short?
As ever, a nicely presented review Ivan. Thank you.
I've fiddled with the chronograph a bit (not for actual useful timing mind you :)) and thus far the seconds hand still goes back to dead on 12 o'clock. I get what you mean about the potential for slipping though, given the spring back action, however that would be the same as for any mechanical chronograph no? As for being able to be remedied... why not? A trusty watchmaker should be able to help I imagine.
As for the hands, yes I do agree they are a bit short... I should've noticed that!
Really nice watch and great info as well.😀
Thanks for that - glad you found this helpful :)
@@PerthWAtch ,appreciate it😁
again, thanks for the review, Ivan. very very nice looking quartz chrono by Spinnaker! for the price, it is pretty good one. however, as you said, I really hate the generic leather band. actually it cheapens the watch, I think. even if consumers have to pay $50 extra, a nice metal band would have made it much better. Just wondering, what if Spinnaker uses automatic chrono valjoux movement with a super nice metal band? wouldn't that be too much money for the brand, would it?
I did wonder about that myself... if they got a Valjoux 7750 (or similar clone) I reckon we would be looking at $600 minimum... not too much for the brand I reckon, and I am keen to see them do it! :)
pagani design meca quartz costs 49$, so don't understand why are you so impressed with 200$ price tag on that watch. plus it's chunky, big and not elegant
Thank you for sharing your thoughts Sebastian ;)
@@PerthWAtchNo offence. really appreciate the review, but not impressed by that watch
I would buy this watch with sapphire glass but it has mineral :(
Yeah that sucks :(
Is it just the camera or when it reflects the lights it became bluish?
That’s the anti-reflective coating, a lot of this gives a blue tint at certain angles
Ohh i see, i like the effect it makes though. Thxx mate
Is it true that the watch use A R= Anti reflecting coating
I think so
Thanks bro for your info,,
Sincerely yours from indonesia
how big is the circle? thank you
What circles?
strap size
Can be adjusted to fit your wrist
Nice but too thick
Yeah it's a bit chunky...
If you start writing home about your watch strap/bracelet then you've spent on it much more then actual life priorities suggest. 🤔
Either you deliberately or inadvertently misunderstood it’s a figure of speech… I don’t know which is worse 😉
