I agree in spades, let them preen themselves!!!!!!! But my Pionus signals by gentle pecking on my shoulder he wants a head scratch by putting his head against my neck so I can reach his own neck feathers for a gentle massage. Kinda neck to neck relationship.
Those bands I find irritate them and no point when u lose them cuz they just have numbers ya back to the farm they from but I’d rather get like a tracker or something I don’t have to put in them like microchip idk
I also had a green cheek conure (it was a girl) and she would always walk on my keyboard- she'd do it so much that she kinda got attached to my laptop and took of the emoji key😐 I miss her so much, she flew away when I took her outside... I'd give away my whole laptop just to have her back with me again:(😮💨
My green cheek kiwi ALWAYS plays with my keys (i have LED ones that flash colors) everytime i shoosh kiwi away its like a threat to civilization and they demand deeper affection and kisses to leave my keys alone. Such a sassy bird. It learned how to say “what” with such attitude and sass when you stare for too long (my sister and boyfriend say she has my sassy attitude but i dont see it 🙄)
Having a keyboard with keys that go back in easily is definite plus. My green cheek sometimes gets mad when I shoo him away from the keyboard. He's a bully.
I had the exact same kind of bird once, and he would always go for the webbing between my fingers, or my ear lobes. They can be very gentle, but not perfect. I trusted my bird not to hurt me, and it never did, but definitely it bit too hard at least, I dunno, EVERY DAY, lol
Please help him preening those feathers . If he doesn’t have a partner , then it’s your job to help him out with that . He needs it

Some birds don't allow their humans to preen them. My bird will never let me do it. When I tried to do it she yanked her feather off

Mine is gentle but still a little rough while playing with the hands. But he is highly cautious yet super dextrous when playing with my face.
When she was new to me, she gave me tough time. But now She always keeps a check on her nibbling and never hurts me.
